@Forthkage haha yes, you're right. I have since retracted my hatred of all milk, and confined it just to processed, pasteurized milk. I eat raw milk products now, fermented mostly, like kefir and yogurt
Soy milk is my alternative to dairy milk; dairy milk did a real number on my skin. It's unfortunate to hear that soy milk causes acne (although I haven't seen extreme breakouts because of it)
@counterclockRICE Yes, it's very individual... some people will break out terribly from dairy, but not soy. Some people do dairy fine, but not soy. Some people do fine with both, but gluten is their culprit. However, none of them are actually good for you.
Dairy: some forms give me bad acne, others do not. Dairy in my situation is too vague. Specific dairy will cause issues, for sure. Gluten? Nah, I can eat pounds of that myself, no issue when it comes to acne. Unless there is a combination effect going on, which is possible.
Hi Tracy. I am in LOVE with oatmeal and I eat it twice a day for breakfast and dinner lol. I don't consume dairy and all I drink is water. Do you think the oatmeal is a huge issue here?
@kayjaybean It might be because while oats don't naturally contain gluten, they are pretty much always cross contaminated with wheat gluten... if you love oatmeal that much, you can always buy certified gluten free oats!
Tracy you're so beautiful and kind! You definitely give me hope for the future. I've suffered from acne since age 16, so I understand how devastating it can be. You def help me to keep my head up with this video. :]
why do our mothers produce dairy if we arent meant to eat it? As an ex-acne sufferer who controlled the problem with homeopathy and did try diet changes allow me to be sceptical about the impact that diet has on the skin. A balanced diet that contains dairy, bread etc shouldn't cause a problem to the average acne-sufferer. This approach of food isn't healthy, I support the mediterranean diet all the way.
@thumbalins I've changed my mind about milk being totally bad.... I think raw, unpasteurized milk can actually be really healthy. It's the processing and pasteurization of milk (plus the added hormones in commercial dairy cows) that make it so awful. It's just not natural anymore whatsoever afterward and seems to particularly be bad for acne.
@thelovevitamin I watched your videos after I disovered all this through my own trial and error. Yes Milk is BAD for you if you are not breast feeding (in other words if you are not a baby you should not drink MILK). Milk is FULL of hormones that throws your system off balance. On top of all that, Dairy has been proven to be the root cause of cancer. Watch Fork over Spoon on Netflix. Research shows that milk protein actually turns on our cancer genes. I cut out dairy from my life
Hi I've been suffering from Acne for a while now, i have completely cut out dairy and have seen no improvement, i was unaware that Gluten could be a problem until i watched your video, i eat 3 bowls of oatmeal a day, I'm assuming that is the problem? Great video by the way.
@phatlip2 It could be! Unfortunately people get acne for so many different reasons... gluten could be a big problem for you. Or it could be stress, or candida, or a number of other things. Or all of these things together. But definitely cut it out for a while to see if gluten is an issue!
@BerValentino6993 hmm.. it's not... great. It's better to have any soy you eat be fermented like natto, tempeh, or tamari. It reduces the damage it does
Excellent information! I have been dairy free for couple of months now and it has helped a lot already. Working with the gluten. What is view on rye bread? Here in Scandinavia we eat a lot of rye bread and it's delicious.
@NicholeDuhh1 hah... yeah it does seem that way when you first hear this, but there are SO many foods out there that we're all blind to because we're conditioned to eat the same things day after day... like pasta. Besides, if you absolutely can't live without pasta, there is always rice pasta :)
hey tracy :D I would like to ask, what do you think is in the dairy, what makes acne?? The hormones or something else? Just in the dairy from the cow ? what do you think abouut eg. feta from goats?? Thank you ! You are really cool and helpful!
@sprechendertoaster Well, it's a few things - pasteurized milk is highly allergenic, full of hormones that mimic the hormones in our body that create acne, lots of people don't have the digestive enzymes to digest lactose - plus commercial milk is full of pesticides, pus, bacteria, feces and other nasty stuff.
Anyway - it all depends on how milk affects you - many who can't have cow can have goat dairy. I'd say if you want to eat a little bit of goat feta then do it! I would.
Hey people! Everyone is different! Learn that! Because somebody is allergic to lactose, it doesnt mean everyone who has acne is also allergic. Learn with yourself before making any judgments!
@MrLianxanpo milk is disgusting, its the nastiest food you could ever put into your body and like she said MOST OF HUMANITY cannot digest lactose. After a certain age almost no one can digest it.
@TheWoopi Brown bread is still bread. You can buy gluten free breads... or you can make your own gluten free breads! I just basically avoid bread though.
i drink dairy it is so so processed and if it was not processed i would maby drink milk but to be honest look up this movie trailer it is called FORKS OVER KNIVES
3:43 Hey now, I LOVE eating cardboard. Some of it is very healthy actually, fiber content through the roof (just drink LOTS of extra water). Deep fried , plain brown board tastes the best, but of course, baked is much more heart friendly. The double-faced corrugated is my fave though, lightly toasted and slathered with some raw agave..... mmmm!! But I digress..
@vodooochild33 Fiber is good for you, but it's completely overrated. Most people are getting enough fiber, but not enough fat. Fiber from vegetables adds up much quicker than fiber from bread.
@Devinn111 Erm... well I guess it's slightly better than skim milk, but it's still really bad if it's pasteurized milk, so stay away! Pasteurized milk of any sort is an acne nightmare
Reducing dairy definitely helped improve my acne. I love soft cheese but luckily dont eat much of it. I hear that the hard/stinky cheeses arent as bad as they have less lactose if any? Thanks for pointing "Rotation" out too - I swapped from dairy to soy, recently to rice (which is bleh with coffee!!) as soy is apparently not good for the body & acne. Guess I will persevere with rice for a couple more weeks (making that 1 month on rice milk) - sounds like a good initiative to give up coffee haha.
@sprechendertoaster Well, I would advise cutting out all dairy to begin with to see how it affects your skin... I now eat raw milk kefir... and I will eat some cheese on occasion, but it's not a regular part of my diet. I now eat quality butter or ghee too, which is mostly just the milk fat and not the proteins/lactose and other problematic stuff
I am also vegetarian. I am now thinking about going vegan .... I have been thinking about it anyways. I don't know what I am going to do about the soy products tho :S. This is going to be hard but hopefully it's worth it!!!
@cblais6 Are you planning to go vegan for ethical reasons, or health reasons? If it's health reasons, I really don't think veganism is all that healthy a diet. There are a lot of vitamins and minerals that are very difficult to get only from plant foods... it's not our natural diet, as we are fundamentally omnivores.
