@KidsOnDuty1 I take it that you've never seen one before? You can't distinguish between a bong and a flashlight? And I thought Whizzy was bad when it came to magnetos and magnetrons. LMAO! -MrFixit
Good on you for your knowledge and sense of humor. I live in the "boonies" (think "Jim Crow" )as well and EVERY body hatin" on Mr. Obama except me. He did NOT tell anyone to buy cheaply made in China microwaves, They made that decision themselves. But...as long as we can keep these old mic's heating our food, we will have the energy to argue politics another day. I'm an aging "hippie" BTW, building wind turbines, solar panels, grow some of the food I eat, and re cycle everything I can. Peace :-)
Reckon there is a lot of un-happy people these days,,but hey,,soon it will pass to those who created the mess, then we who are angry, well we can be entertained by watching wall street brokers and the like try to spend all that loot they have been stealing for things that the rest of us use to build or make and no longer exist,,it's only paper after all. Gonna be interesting watching those pencil pushers try to fix there broken shit themselves! Then we will see the REAL workers of the world
oh gosh...sorry ESREPAIR,... I really meant that for TREVOC2!
AHAHA...i am angry at the world,...like him...and decided that he was better to pick on than the loved ones at home!! We have enough problems surviving, than to have out there,...mean, angry and despicable, unhappy people,....but its a good place to put mine!! LOL, some sh*it attracts flies on shit!! Boy that was fun!
@meilani42 Working with microwave ovens are dangerous. I know first hand from personal experience. If King Obama has his way, the only thing people here can afford is the government taxes. We have the videos on here to show viewers how some little $5 switch would render an appliance useless. With fuel prices on the rise, means consumer product prices will be on the rise. These videos are not for the faint hearted, but, we strive to make these instructions simple for everyone. -MrFixit
I commend you for making this video. I have heard different ways of saying the same thing. I am amazed how negative people can be for such a positive thing of educating people. Hopefully most people will disregard negative comments and focus on the point of this video. Maybe the haters will go away. Someone should create a negative channel so they can all just take that crap to people who want to listen to it.
Thanks for this video, Whizkid. I just spent $1.90 for a new fuse for my 1980s Whirlpool microwave and it is back working again. I hope it goes another 20+ years like the first fuse did.
@gmoose2 Thank you ,gmoose2 . Saving people money is our main goal with these videos . As for the old stuff , it usually out lasts the new stuff that we have nowdays .

I was merely pointing out the things that can go wrong on a microwave and can be fixed cheap by the average person , not telling them how to actually work on it . High voltage stuff is to dangerous for the average person to fool with , plus the parts for high voltage is expensive. So shut up dumbass !!!!!!!!
Hello Whizkid. I just want to start by saying that I am a bonified Alabama Redneck who appreciated your post very much. YOU saved me upwards of 250 bucks by showing me how to check the switches and taught me every thing I'll ever probably need to know about microwave ovens. My problem was the plastic level didnt quite push down on the button of the switch and all i had to do was insert the switch into the finger a little bit better and it mashed it down. My wife is as happy as a clown over this!
Further more. A note to Trevoc2... It's folks like you that ruin posts on YouTube. This fellow actually helped me out and keep in mind that he did state to not try this at home if you are not familiar with working on components such as this. Post possitive comments on YouTube man... We need good Americans like WhizKid to help us common folks to fix things. I understood exactly what he meant. I bet you dont care to help nobody do ya but spend your time bitchin' and complainin' about nonsense
Thank you very much for the positive comment. I'm very glad that we were able to help you and to help you save money. You were right about Trevoc2, his comments were very unsupportive . We do need supportive comments as well as constructive critism , but rude comments like that were uncalled for . He actually acted like he was wanting a fight over this . To me he sounded like some physico bully trying to pick on someone.
I know more than you will ever know. If I didn't I wouldn't be on here. I'm sorry that my pronuncation of words is clear enough for you to understand . I did say continuity , sorry that you couldn't understand. As for being a "dumbshit " I think not , you are the dumbshit . Nobody in their right minds would get on here and accuse the govt. of the plots that you have overseas . Don't you know that people have been arrested over such bullshit as that ????
The word is "Continuity" not "community" dipshit!!
All you wanna be repairman, I caution you, this dumbshit did not warn you about the high voltage capacitor. You MUST DISCHARGE the capacitor first before you even put your fingers in the box or you'll lose your finger or get a nice shock of 1000 volts.
So, DO NOT follow this idiot's advice, he is a wannabe home repairman who cant even say the words correctly.
@Trevoc2 Well, shit for brains, I have been repairing electronics for 25 years. WhizKid was only showing viewers things that can be fixed with out the need of buying a new microwave. This video showed how something as little as a $5 part would keep a microwave from working. The HV capacitor is never charged unless the oven is cooking. Non-polarized capacitors will not hold a charge except for a few seconds. He did say 'Continuity' cracker head!! Learn English!!
@Trevoc2 Yes, when it concerns my friend, I will put my 2 cents worth in. We do this channel together. I have been teaching him electronics because he wanted to learn what I do. Nobody's perfect. You have something to bitch about here I am.... For someone who doesn't like these videos seems to like coming here.
@ESRepair Well,...geez,..if it is so unsafe,...and dangerous,..why don't you have a video on here to show us how. Or so we have to pay $100 for one assholes opinion. Better yet, IF I HAD A F***STORE TO GO TO BUY ONE,...THEY ARE $300.
@ESRepair Well,...geez,..if it is so unsafe,...and dangerous,..why don't you have a video on here to show us how. YOU ARE A VERY ANGRY PERSON BTW. Most of us who look here,...if we had a job still, COULD probably BUY A NEW ONE!

I have a over the range microwave which lights up, turntable moves around but the MV will not heat anything. Does that sound like a fuse problem? I'm about to take it apart to find out.
No ,it's not a fuse problem . If the fuse was dead, then it wouldn't do anything at all . It would be more like you didn't have it pluged in. Sounds more like it is on the secondary side. Just what ever you do , PLEASE BE CAREFULL , I can't stress this enough .The high voltage can kill a person very quickly and so can the low 120 voltage. Could be the magnatron out .
Hello Insider, this is MrFixit from ES Repair. As WhizKid mentioned, it isn't a fuse problem, however, it sounds more like a problem with either a relay, HV transformer, HV capacitor, HV diode, the Magnetron, or a combination. I am putting together a video for you and others that may experience the same problem to show how to troubleshoot and repair the problem. Please stay tuned.
Could be one of the door switches to as I talked about . The microwave in the video had basically the same problem as yours . Switch tested good , but it still tripped breakers when you tried to open the door even after the buzzer went off. everything worked just like it supposed to just no heat. switch finally stopped making contact and quit working .
Do you have to discharge the capacitor first, or can you just let it sit unplugged for awhile first?
sisdavid 2 weeks ago
@sisdavid You unplug the oven wait 30 minutes then use an insulated needle nose plier to short the terminals and complete the discharge. -mrfixit
