  • From the point of view of a long time and hard core Trekkie, a decent Star Trek movie requires the exploration into humanity from a unique point of view. Seeing humanity in its nobility and depravity, and the growth of the human spirit. It also requires the defining moment for our beloved heroes, seeing beyond their own little world you might say.

And J.J. Abrams version of Star Trek passed those requirements with flying colours.

  • It's amazing how this same 2 minute trailer is on You Tube a number of times, and no one has it in really good quality - do people copy it and repost it or something?

  • Filming in the theater? From what I know that's a big no no. If they were to catch you you could get into big trouble.

  • I still think the best casting was done for Scotty. SIMON PEGG. If you don't know Simon Pegg, watch Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead or Run Fatboy, Run. Really, Simon Pegg? That's hilarious

  • Instead of XI, this is the beginning right? Star Trek fans, give me an answer please.

  • Yes. It features the original TV show's characters on their first mission fresh out of Starfleet Academy.

  • For new viewers its the beginning based on original characters.

For nerdy fans its a new beginning started by a villian from the future after Star Trek X, better you don't think about it, Keevanhotshot. The movie explain itself.

  • You are right, HOWEVER if you look at Casino Royale- that is like the 17 th installment of the film- even though it is a reboot of the original one starring Sean Connery, it is considered a standalone in the series. Same goes for this one. Even though it is a reboot it is considered another installment

  • lol cool ur anger ok I will decide wether the movie sucks or not ok NO ONE ELSE decides but ME lol so yes all of you bitchers and haters shut the hell up since this is only a reimigned version that goes back to the days before TOS first came out at least according to them so if there is something i see wrong then i will consider it a letdown if not then i will consider it awsome no matter wat u dumbasses think so FUCK YOU HATERS!!!.

  • FUCK YOU HATERS

    ^^^^^

"Hate" has nothing to do with it. Paramount was losing BILLIONS from the Star Trek franchise.

JJ was tasked to give Star Trek a "dignified" death.

  • gratis.sejfik. com/movies.php (delete space) In the site, are full films online! Watch! Full films for free!

  • I consider myself a purist but I believe this is the only way to successfuly garner new fans. If you want anyone under thirty to spend a dollar on anything Star Trek related you have to take this route and if you don't realize that then you've been in your mom's basement way to long

  • I disagree. Star Trek fans are always going to be a specific type and extremely dedicated. Changing Star Trek into an action franchise won't bring new fans, it will just alienate old ones. People might be impressed for a while but they'll forget all about it as soon as the next Vin Diesel movie comes out.

  • @truefakeness Agreed. It seems like intellectuals who appreciate a good story, well-developed characters, and moral theme in their movies/shows/video games are dying out and being replaced by simpletons who only care for big special effects explosions...if this trend continues, we can kiss the future Gene Roddenberry envisioned goodbye.

  • There will always be those people who just hate everything! You know who you are. Stay home then and never go to the movies since you cant stand any movie! _____BSG Forever______

  • any one who thinks this movie will be good is not a real true star trek fan star trek was about how far man has come star trek TNG MADE UP FOR SOME OF THE MISTAKES STAR TREK TOS MADE SO WHY GO BACKWARDS STAY THE COURSE AND AHEAD NOT BACK DONT FORGET WHEN STAR TREK 5 BOMBED THEY WANTED TO DO A MOVIE WITH A NEW CAST BUT ROODENBERY WAS AGAINST IT THIS MOVIE IS NOT STAR TREK

  • I certainly understand and respect your argument. But the truth is that the star trek franchise was/is dying you can only see them transfer auxiliary power to the shields so many times before it gets dull. Now i Love star trek and have watched all its different incarnations TOS TNG VOY DS9 Enterprise, never watched the cartoon but if i think that if this is what the series needs to stay alive then I'm all for it because if they don't shake it up and bring it to a new audience then it will end.

  • YOu bunch of hater bitch bitches need to chill. This is a "REIMAGINING" of Star Trek! Look how well Battlestar Galactica has done since it's facelift. This movie will rock and all you hater fags will eat your words....

  • my thing with this is why go back star trek was always about moving ahead that was why enterprise die no one cares about the past why can they do some thing new we seen all of this before

  • I care about the past. Course I dont live in it either. You mentioned wanting something new rather than what has already been done. So, what would you have wanted the new film to be about?

  • I actually loved enterprise - after TNG it was my favourite.

  • Gotta say...everyone needs to reserve judgement until AFTER they see the finished product. And AFTER, I mean, maybe a month after. After we've been able to digest it, and not give some knee-jerk reactioin. I, for one, am looking forward to it. Being 45, I'm a classic Trek fan. When my oldest son, who is 22, was 5, we attended a convention. He never became a fan, but knows his old man is. And after watching both trailers, he's stoked to see it. So...let's all wait and see. AND be in line!

  • I have tried to hold judgement but wtf seriously. This isn't startrek. You would think after the faliure Nemesis was they would go back to what core trekies expect but no they come up with this. TREK had a certin feel to it and a certain fanbase. This fanbase expected certin things when they see the words STAR and TREK not a action scifi flick. Now im probably gonna see it and enjoy it but this so dont feel like Startrek at all.

  • GET over it people. It's a new Trek...for a new Generation. Sit back and try to enjoy it instead of breaking it down.

  • Yeah, seriously. I don't see why Trekkies get so uptight like this over a change in Trek. It's, as Spock would say, illogical.

  • I'm sorta a half-Trekkie, myself. If such an animal exists.

  • Hello I have never watched Star Trek before so all I have to say is you Tekkies need to listen to me and chill out this is going to rock like ID4. Big ships and explosions that is like all you need. Like who needs continuity when you can destroy a franchise Jar Jar Binks could not do that. For your info JJ rocks MI3 sucked and Lost and Fringe purposely

make no sense he Rocks!!!These guys know what there doing I've read stuff by 10 year olds better than the plot of this movie!!

  • Im a Star Trek and Battlstar Galactica fan you hater bitches! JJ Abrams is the new, "action movie", kid on the block! I guess you haters barfed at his last movie too right? You know -"Cloverfield"! You people always hate everything new! Mabey your just a little slow. Star Trek is awesome and Mr. Abrams is taking this franchise to the next level. You old motherfrakkers need to grab your walkers and get your crusty asses to the theater to check this out! Motherfrakkers!...

  • then the next level should be something new not a repete of a 1960 show the thing about star trek was not the f/x but the writing this is a lame try to get money from fans it will suck

  • Garbage. Box Office FLOP. NOT Star Trek. Might rent it on DVD....

  • Your like a retard or something....

  • JJ Abrams is a Hair-Lip plageristic Wanna-be, riding on the apron-strings of men he wished he was. PERIOD. Why has this turd been pushed beack numerouse times? HE IS AFRAID TO RELEASE IT, you MORONS.

  • ... What the hell is this?

  • The end of Star Trek that has been loved by the world over for more than 40 years; That is what THIS IS.

  • WORD UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "... What the hell is this?"

You need it spelled out for you? Retard much?

  • Fuck you.

  • why was Kirk driving a mid 60s Corvette??

  • Mr. Roddenberry is rolling over in his grave over this travesty.

  • SO what? It represents the actual movie, right?

Like you want to tell me that sex scene is just for tease in there?

  • Oh, you meant THAT Voyager..doh!. I'm off a bit..At least that show adgered to what was accepted as "Star Trek", not re-making everything any old way you want to.

  • No, he didn't, But he did create the Enterprise, Spock, Kirk, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Gorns, Tholians, Klingons, Romulans, Alpha Ceti 5, The Ceti eel, Khan, The First Federation, Phasers, Communicators, Tricorders, Shuttlecraft, the Transporter, Ships being BUILT IN SPACE, the list goes on and on, and while he didn't create Voyager, he DID imagine what might happen to Voyager, and thought uo V'Ger. Nah. Wut.

  • You do realize that almost every trailer shows the action scenes right? What else would you propose? I don't see the point of complaining and not offering a resolution.

  • I am incensed by the fact that this HACK is taking a beloved franchise, and American Institution, that is LOVED all over the WORLD, and doing whatever he wants to with it, disregarding what has been established over the last 40 YEARS. Besides the fact that the Piece of garbage skow he is calling 'enterprise' is the UGLIEST thing I've ever seen. Oh, and Spock would NEVER ALLOW HIMSELF to attack another officer, especially his C.O. Duh. Rediculous violence, to perpetuate his story. NOT "Star Trek"

  • its fans like you that ruins a movie that has the potential of being really great. The movie is based on the beginning which means its not a remake. He is pretty much doing whatever he wants, but whatever he wants that will impress new fans and dedicated fans. But as I said before pleasing old fans that only looks at the changes made to the original will ruin of how good the movie really is overall. exe.

  • And? This is JJtrek, not Star Trek. It's silly, just from this clip. Spock went through life FIGHTING his emotions, NOT assaulting his CO. He would be court-martialed and imprisoned. This is not ST, this is kiddie stuff.

  • "Kiddie stuff" does not constitute Jim Kirk jumping into bed with an Orion animal woman.

And Spock DID assault Kirk once.

And Gene Roddenberry originally wanted Trek to be an "action adventure." If his own son can approve of the direction that Abrams is taking Trek in, we can.

Reserve your judgement until after the movie comes out. If you just downplay it, by the time you go see it you're darn near destined to hate it. Give it a shot. Cut J.J. some slack.

  • I think you're right. The more I look at the thing, the more I'm getting used to the idea that this effort is meritorious in it's own right, and things can't stay the same forever. I'm uneasy about the new ship design...in motion it looks ok, but in stills the thing looks awkward and unbalanced....I like it and I don't, if that makes sense.

  • Don't worry, it makes perfect sense. When I first saw the picture of the Enterprise as it is now, I remember thinking something along the lines of -- if you'll excuse my abbreviated French -- WTF did they do to it?? Lately, I've been looking at the same picture (that side shot Paramount leaked on purpose) and, dare I say it, it's been growing on me.

Oh, and I apologize if my previous comment sounded harsh. It's just that I get miffed about stuff like that, since I myself am a storyteller.

  • No apology necessary. I was kind of mean in my judgement of Abrams. I felt like he was deliberatly ruining things. I'm really hoping it does well, so at least there will be something fun still being made.

  • STAR TREK RIP

    1966-2009

  • Yep. It's a sad thing. And that UGLY thing they are calling Enterprise...holy smoke.

  • this movie is gonna be amazing and you know it. stop being such a snob and give it a chance.

  • wait a sec, is this a movie or a series?

  • Abrams is a PLAGERISING HACK. Guess what? JJ Abrams didn't create "Star Trek", and has NO BUSINESS trying to take credit for it. BOYCOTT!

James Siberius Kirk? Who is that? Not the CO of the Enterprise, that's a given. A little theif? Spare me.

  • Little Jimmy actually said "Tiberius." The quality of this uploaded version of the video sucks, audio-wise.

  • Yep, I know, I was probably drinking that night and looking for things to smart off about. Lack of control on my part.

  • I find it ironic that the only thing they kept from the original's design was spock's haircut

  • And the uniforms. Don't forget that.

  • Fact: 87% of startrack fans are virgins. I must admit, spock is pretty hunky though

  • i am a trek fan and i get alot of ass..just not for being a trek fan..

    i have a big dick

  • If this turns out to be good, Who would be for a new tv series with this cast? Finally Get Star Trek phase II.

Or just another TNG era show? Maybe voyager phase II the search for Sevens implants(Joke) :)

  • more like star trek phase 0.

  • The "policemen" looks right for me because i can rememebr these helms in the old Trek movies, too. But they just apeared for some moments in the background

  • Maybe he is a android?

  • Groundcar chase in the desert, psychologically fucked-up rogue Romulan with the power to singlehandedly destroy Earth, ship that practically destroys itself fighting against all odds... Anyone who loved Nemesis is going to die over this film since it shares many of the same elements.

As far as the Robocop/Judge Dredd, I have a feeling he will be some sort of alien who works as a cop on Earth but can't breathe our atmosphere. Show how "equal opp" the Federation is...

  • Ok so The Wrath of Kahn deffinately wasnt the best movie. In fact the entire original series sucked. My fav movie is Nemisis. But if I had to pick and old movie it would be either Voyage Home or Undiscovered Country.

  • Wrong.

  • I swear I saw the rock monster from Galaxy Quest in the trailer.

  • Looks like Star Trek for the MTV trl crowd. Shoot, even the bridge looks like the inside of an Apple store. Looks like ST meets 90210. And I just can't take this movie seriously. I can't. But that's hollywood for ya.

  • I hope they tie this in with the Enterprise Series... It would be interesting to see Archer's Son or grandson as a starfleet higher-up in this film...

and, whether you purists like it or not, this WILL be cannon, so get used to it.

  • I believe they will have an explanation as to the changes, making it in tune with established Star Trek lore.

  • Nope - it's a re-imagining. The general idea of trek, kirk, spock, mccoy, enterprise, federation - but whole new take - like Batman/Batman Begins, or the two Battlestar Galacticas, or the Lost in Space Movie. If you go in expecting continuity with Trek 1.0 you'll be upset. This is trek 2.0 - just consider it as a totally new film and approach it like that.

  • Now was that Jame-sTiberius Kirk or James Siberius Kirk....please let it be the first one.

  • lame

  • You guys are already condemning the movie based on the trailer? WOW! Movie trailers notoriously oversell crappy movies and underestimate quality films. Why don't you just go see it and leave the prevaricating Miss Cleo?

  • A trailer is all anyone has to go on. Nobody is going to spend $8.50 on the chance a movie might be good if the trailer is awfulAnd you're right trailers do oversell crappy movies, which is the case here.

  • In the First Place they got a name wrong...it's James Tiberius Kirk, not Siberius...and the Corvette shot doesn't make any sense to me...

Second i think the actors wont be as good as the historic ones...you CANT make a second Kirk,Spock,Scotty so I think just on that basis the real trekkers will stay away from this film.

Last but not least, I saw lots of action in this trailer, let's hope the whole film wont be all like that..and let's hope this film does have an end, a real one..

    Wait and see..

  • Thats right. It seemed little Star wars. In fact Trek moves are more sophisticated by far. Well, you are wrong there. If the current cast was the first one, then you would say the same thing for the new cast(the old one, aka Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner )

  • Ok I get your point...anyway from what I've seen and heard so far it will be a good movie but completely sawed off from the real Star Trek, which as you pointed out are sophisticated movies[and series], and it's a great thing...personally i didnt like any of JJ Abrams works so far...

Oh and to those who are saying that we are judging the whole movie on one single trailer...well...trailers are made to make an idea about the movie...usually...

Anyway let's wait fot the film...

  • he said Tiberius.

  • What about the bike? Maybe Iowa got stuck in the 20th century by some sort of temporal distortion.

  • They do it for fun

  • i'm not feeling it.

In alot of ways, it almost feels like i was watching "lost in space" from a couple of years back.

I would have been happy with an "Enterprise" movie, but this just feels flashy, and...flashy, with no Philosophy.

It just doesn't seem right, there is only one Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhura, Checkov, Sulu, Scotty.

Quinto looks good, but Quinto is a decent actor.

And what's with the corvette? That looks silly.

I don't think Trekkies are gonna go for it.

  • it looks flashy, but doesn't mean it's bad. still to early to tell, personally thought, i think it's gonna rock!

  • I've been watching Star Trek in it's various incarnations for over thirty years, and I've noticed that those those with the "this will fail" no can do people are almost always the ones that are wrong. I'm looking forward to seeing this movie.

  • It's Flashy.

Let's see if it has substance.

Not comfortable how what they are doing to McCoy as over dramatic pessimist and Scotty as happy go lucky tourist.

Plus Kirk seems a little boy band for my liking.

Shrugs..wait and see attitude I guess.

  • Believe me, I am a Trekker.

But I have gone through enough torment and realization to understand that Trek needs a new beginning. Anything before the established history will fail (kinda like Enterprise) and anything after will be just pushing it. From NextGen onwards I always felt this twinge of annoyance at all those other random alien races, with all those random alien ships, with all those random alien techs, with all those random alien stories... when TOS was able to do fine without.

  • By the way, WoK is overrated.

  • Oh please people, look what happened last time they tried preserving the Star Trek franchise. It died with Enterprise. The only sense now is to go back to the series' origins, where it remains the strongest. I actually like the new look better, it gives the series a new and energizing feel. Sp stop whining about them "not making it look retro enough" or "it looks too modern" or "bras didn't exist in the 23rd century WTF continuity violation!"

    Please, Trek needs this reboot.

  • star trek was already ruined this is an attempt to make this star trek beggining seem more "sexy" and youthful....i think they're trying to cater to a more general audience who i think usually judge previews by saying "that looks dumb" or "that looks bad ass"....i like to think im in the general audience category when it comes to seeing this trailer of star trek and to me, that trailer looked really good...good enough for me to see it anyway. just my opinion

  • Without Shatner, this movie will fail.

  • Oh? Then perhaps you fanboys should explain a good way he could get in the movie without it looking like some random excuse to shove him in to please you guys?

  • star trek is now ruined for me

  • looks fine to me. but then again I am not a star trek nerd, I just watched it cause it was on the only channel I had when I was a kid.

  • The correct term is Trekkie NOT nerd

  • woah there buddy. calm down. don't sick the tribbles on me.

    Fanboys are unbelievable.

  • get outta your mothers basement you geeks.

  • you have nothing better to do then harass people who like star trek? WOW your mom must be the worst mom ever':^/ Is she on crack?

  • Well, now we know WHY William Shatner isn't making a cameo...

  • Gas powered cars in the 23rd century? Robocop too? No imagination whatsoever and the tv show and movies have already shown a truckload... never mind, who is the target audience of this rubbish anyway?

Somebody lost faith in this flick to move it up 6 months...

  • Although it showed a gas powered car; we still have people using horses and buggies here in the US. Its possible Kirk in his youth stole the antique car. Also the guy didn't really look like a robocop. Kinda reminded me of an alien from TNG.

  • Actually Paramount moved it to a Primetime release cause they were more than impressed.

  • Antiques exist. It didn't seem like a robot to me. It looked to me more like a human police officer with armor and electronic sensory-assist mask.

  • Those of you who worry that it isn't the same old Trek shouldn't worry too much. Especially since half of this trailer shows a ship called "USS Kelvin" taking one hell of a beating and chances are it'll plow itself into another ship or structure just in time for Kirk and company to be beamed on board the Enterprise. Also, the evil rogue Romulan villain "Nero" seems like he could be Shinzon's great-grandfather. Maybe Arik Soong's son will sacrifice himself in the end to top it all off.

  • hehehe COPPY RIGHT INFRENDMENT* no affence LOVE THIS TRAILER*

  • I like Star Trek but i cannot help but feel JJ and his cronies have killed the Franchise MORE than Entrprise EVER could!!

Bring Back DS9 and the Dominion War!!

And the Enterprise being built on Earth....WTF!!

  • and it's fucking TIBERIUS KIRK!!

  • I would just like them to focus on the fact that the Enterprise is a ship of exploration not all out war. I really want this film to work but I dont want it to be the mission impossible 2 of star trek if you know what I mean.

  • Seems like the same old. One galactic supervillain (in this case "Nero" ala Khan and Shinzon) has some weapon of ultra-mega-mass destruction and only one crew is available to stop him. I agree that it should move more toward a different direction, or at least a different plot. Don't get me wrong I will see it but I expect the same as usual.

  • join the military join the military ...yeeha

  • No no no no no no! JJ Abrams does not love Star Trek.. he loves Star Wars... and terrorists! Let's not pander here people.... don't make me yell "KHAAAAAAAAAAN!"

  • Sylar as spock = win

Idk how this'll turn out, maybe good, maybe not.

  • omg sylar as spock brilliant casting choice!

  • Ha, didn't notice the ship phasering a torpedo to save that shuttle the first time I watched this. 1:08

  • this shit looks raw, jj is a sav

  • People, People, not so fast. Its a reboot. Fresh blood - fresh ideas. I believe it is a good thing. I like the concept of captain Pike being protrayed. From the TOS to TNG - there never was any exploration of pre TOS. This should strenghthen and bring more clarity to the canon regarding pre TOS era.

  • time line perversion. standard trek style. gotta love it. new light on jim kirk. give this movie a chance. like batman.. a reboot did it good. plenty of action. looks great . i am gonna see this one. i am a life long trek fan. seen every episode as a kid in the 70s. at least 4 times each. this movie is awesome. be a critric if you want.. but jj may have done for paramount what the TNG movies did'nt do.. bring in the bucks. we shall see.

  • It was supposed to come out late this year, not May 9th, 2000 fucking 9.

  • It's dead, Jim...

  • you people are so wrong!!! This does not look that bad at all, as a matter of fact i think it looks pretty good, the last couple of star trek movies sucked, the only good star trek movie are, wrath of khan, search for spock, and whatever the one with the whales was called. all the generation ones espicially sucked.

  • Look out, here comes a whole movie-load of crap.

  • Never has "he's dead Jim" made so much sense...:(

  • They're killing Star Trek. This is not what Star Trek is supposed to be, and this film should never be released. I can't believe that they think that they can rewrite history. Now all the future fans will think that THIS is Star Trek.

  • Your an idiot....

  • Hmm I never liked Star Trek. But I think since Dark Knight, it's ok to watch these movies that used to be considered nerdy. So Ima watch this thing. Especially because the guy from Heroes is in it and he's fucking hot!

  • Don't be fooled by the hype! This is nothing like the Star Trek that you know and something worse than simply updating Star Trek. The characters have been completely re-written and the timeline that we know, has been destroyed. Spock in attempting to stop the Romualans from destroying the Federation somehow, fails and the timeline that we know is completely obliterated! No more Star Trek! The look is only an approximation. Gene must be spinning in his grave!

  • For those of you who grew up with Trek and it really meant something to you - this movie destroys everything we ever knew and here is why:

This film is based on the premise that Spock in an attempt to stop the Romualans from destroying the Federation fails in doing so and as a result, the timeline that we know is completely erased from existence.

The characters may have the same name but they act like nothing previously seen and the damned Enterprise looks like some kind of abortion.

  • I have new for you....

Abrams fucked up! Star Trek was never meant to be a teen drama, it was a philosophical adventure for forward thinking individuals.

Real Star Trek fans are going to freak out over this crap...did you see the Enterprise???? It looks like a 65 Ford Falcon or some shit.

Trek is offically dead I'm afraid.

  • First off, NICE i seen it today and Im excited for Trek Fans again seems like we hadnt had anything good till since First Contact but im sure this will blow First Contact away, can't wait to see this one for sure, Oh and yeah to the Shatner reference, apparently something was offered to Shatner but he wanted a bigger role so its his loss .. cant wait to see this!!

  • freakin sweet!, this ought to get the bad taste of nemisis out of my mouth.

  • Well said,nemisis was shite.

  • ITS SKYLAR OMG!!!

I WANT TO SEE THIS NOW!!!

    thats rad

  • I'm sorry but it's Sylar

But I also wanna see it!

    =)

  • Yeah Its all the same to me..

It looks nerdy (does nerdy dance)

  • star trek got cool again, yippee,

makes me wonder if kirk is as child then does it see the killing of his home world(not meaning earth-check books)?

  • What is it rated?

I want to watch it but don't know if I could.

  • to bad they dont have shatner lol

  • Woah way cool. love startrek thanks for sending me this vid:)

  • visit my channel,I uploaded the official version

  • damn!! looks pretty bad-ass

  • I hope 05/08/2009 will be the rebirth of a franchise!

  • This looks promising.

    Screw the haters....

  • They're not really haters, they're purists. They can't stand the idea of Abrams remaking the TOS in any form.

Abrams will either do justice by it or he will butcher one of the most cherished of things in the sci-fi genre.

The new Kirk bugs me. lol! But I already knew that he would, so I'm getting over that already.

But my friends and I will be on line (hopefully at an IMAX theater) with open minds and looking forward to what Abrams has done with Trek.

  • this movie looks awesome. fuck the haters

  • YEAH! I was worried with the first trailer...but now...now it looks great!

  • When I started to watch this trailer and I saw this car...I thought "Great another ass hole made some stupid film and just Star Trek on it" Until the boy said "My name is James T Kirk"

I just thought OMG after watching the whole thing!!! I think this is going to be one of my Have To See This Movie List

  • I think robotwookie works for JJ Abrams. Or atleast is one of the mouth breathing drooling morons this movie is geared towards.

Star Trek is failing because society is valuing intelligence and substance less and less. Star Trek has never failed us, the content, the morality, is eternal. We have grown corrupt. Do me a favour and boo this movie!

  • I know what you're going through but give it a chance.

Abrams is in love with the TOS so he's going to show respect for the Trek world.

  • wishes they would stop going backwards and carry on from Voyager...

  • "Worst Star Trek movie ever!!!" May it burn in hell, it won't last a week.

  • As much as Trek has changed over the last 40 years, I believe that in order to fully appreciate it an open mind must be kept.

  • My mind is WAY open!

  • Also, I admire Simon Pegg greatly, but does anyone else feel that in this clip his Scottish accent is way laboured and exaggerated? Reminded me of Christopher Lambert's accent in Highlander. I hope he did the Scotty character as a consumate professional from Scotland, and not a characature of a drinking whimsy Scotsman. He said his Scottish wife helped him with the accent. Hopefully this clip isnt representative of Pegg's performance.

  • Considering how the writing skills of Orci and Krutzman botched Transformers Im afraid this will succeed at the box office in spite of poor writing. They will throw enough special effects and production value at this thing to make it a slam bang "rollercoaster thrill ride" that will "resonate with a wide audience" and they will make millions. We can only hope they dont suck all the rich character development out Kirk and Spock as they did Optimus Prime and Megatron.

  • There was "rich character development" of Optimus Prime or Megatron? When was this?

I was a huge fan of the original Star Trek series, with Captain Kirk, who has more interstellar STDs than any other human. I even followed much of The Next Generation, though I liked it less. I started watching Deep Space Nine, but I really couldn't get into it. Star Trek Voyager was a friggin' snoozefest and I'm glad they stopped making them.

With all that said, this movie has the potential to be cool.

  • nice trailer

  • This movie looks like it needs a phaser shot to the throat.

  • how frickin' lame

  • I'm an easy Trek fan. If it's called "Trek", I'll not only watch it, but probably like it. Which means I'm really looking forward to this movie. I hope they do as great a job on the movie as they did on the trailer.

  • k. robot wookie? wookie? telling me about Star Trek?

It's people like you that make the world stupid.

That propel Star Wars over Star Trek.

    ew to u all

  • Fool. Star Wars is better but I like Trek considerable more. Judge me by my name you do.

  • who's with me when i say death to this shit

  • Uh, not me brother

  • So now the starship Enterprise is crewed by metrosexuals?

  • Hahaaha! You're so damn right! but it must change with its time look at the new James bond guy :P

  • Really? that's what you get get from the trailer? Just stay home next May and I'll enjoy the rebirth of my favorite franchise....

  • Looks like the movie of 2009. Gonna be hard to live up to the hype but based on the fact that it was moved to a May release to compete with the other blockbusters tells me Paramount loved what they saw.

Star Trek, Watchmen & Terminator all before June 1st. Spring 2009 is gonna be sweet!!!

  • Kind of hard to judge a flick from a 2 minute trailer but thanks for your pre-review, Actionguy1.

  • Forgive me to all my die hard Trekkers, but after seeing the "new/old" NCC-1701 and this trailer, I am left uninspired.

I am afraid Paramount has let JJ Abrams pound the final nail into the coffin of their "Golden Goose!"

I for one, will NOT be seeing this steaming pile of crap.

Abrams has made a shit sandwich which I refuse to take a bite of.

Paramount will find that they don't like the taste of it either, but they'll have to eat it anyway! RIP Star Trek 1966-2009

  • Thank you for your insight Kreskin

  • robotwookie: This is simply a preview of "The Death of Star Trek!" I've been watching Star Trek since it's debut WAY BACK in 1966. This is NOT my Star Trek!

Hope you like the taste of Abrams' shit sandwich too!

    Enjoy!

  • He's not aiming to please you sir. The Trek that pleases most Trekkies is what killed off the damn franchise. This is a new direction. One I am willing to go if it means saving Trek. And a shit sandwich is best with milk.....
