  • I'm happy to see at least the Arab shows allow you to lope at a faster pace to show how athletic and talented these horses can be! I'd love to show my paint mare, but they have those horses in the paint/quarter shows moving way too slow at the lope nowadays...

  • all horses behind the vertical...

  • I was giving my arab mare last October after the tragic death of my arab x. Lady( new horse)was a amazingly pretty horse and moved really nice but she was extremely scared of everything. She was claimed dangerous and unrideable. I have done so much with her and I ride her all the time. I am so glad my boss gave her to me. She almost didn't have a chance to live and to prove herself. I would love to go to shows like this to show off what I have done with her.

  • I've owned, ridden, and shown half arabs all my life. And their true, flowy gaits beat quarter horses' unnaturally slow speeds. The only downfall of the arab circuit is that the people don't seem to have the extravagant outfits that the AQHA / APHA has :D

  • yeah, but we ride horses who have spirit, so we don't need flashy outfits to draw attention to ourselves. i have a 29 yo grey arab cross

  • Invest money in an Arabian that isn't backyard bred and you wouldn't have the problem of them being a ticking time bomb! I have seen plenty of nice world class stock horses have temper explosions without warning. Horses are horses. They all have attitude problems. Otherwise what would be the fun in showing without unpredicatbility? No matter what breed though, be able to appreciate the finest horses in that breed.

  • I love Arabs! I even own a half arab and i enjoy riding her. There so smooth to ride. I perfer a Arab over a QH.

  • OK wtf I show quarter horses and maybe u like theese but i love quarter horses

  • I love Arabian WP. QH is too slow and too straight from hip to poll. It's irratating to watch a QH, but an Arab has controlled flow under the surface, a springing grace, a charisma that floats.

    ARABIANS FOREVER!!!

  • yeah, and a ticking time bomb ready to explode at the slightest change of pattern. i've owned 3 arabs, and if you try anything besides going in circles, it's impossible. i do agree there are those special arabs that are total all arounds, but one in a million. if you get a quarter horse, it's one in millions for an all around. that's my opinion.

  • arabs rule. quarter horses drool, just accept it . I ride my five year old arab bridleless and bareback and in halters

  • Wow, why can't you just be horse lovers and like them all?

  • Haha, I'm not trying to put you down but I just think that's really funny because I'm used to quarter horses and paints, so watching the Arabs do pleasure irritates me! To me they have too much knee action and are too quick-legged. It's just a different style for every breed, huh? :)

  • yeah. I 'spose your right

But what ever I say just know I'm messing around! =D

Someone I know put it a good way: They bridle and move the way that fits the breed best.

  • I heartily agree. :) thumbs up for that comment.

  • Too quick legged? They barely look like they are moving to me.

  • Just had to comment on the four beat lobe. My arab/quarter horse cross naturally does a four beat lobe. I have to get after her to do a 3 beat canter. I think she is just lazy. One thing for sure is when she does four beat it is so smooth even if it isn't a true gait.

  • Have any of you ever even ridden one of these HIGHLY trained horses? They are so amazing.

Their lightness and suppleness would make most haughty dressage trainers blush.

Don't knock shit you don't know anything about.

Western pleasure is one of the hardest disciplines to master.

  • I hate going so slow i western pleasure. makes them look.... dead.... sam with APHA and AQHA. Luv Arab's my 1st horse was one

  • I personally like arabs, but I have been more of a fan of Quarter horses. These Arabs are pretty..bleh. Some of the lopes are really out of place. ot bad though, I know I could never show an Arab :P

  • Too much like a QH.

  • They make fun of the Quarter horses 4 beat trashy lope but from what I can see there are some arabs that are showing that trashy lope. A lot of these horses look too bound up unlike the AQHA/APHA horses are more freely moving

  • look at that smooth canter...

  • arabians are wonderful horses long tails show how well cared for they are u can see each of these horses jog a 2 beat gait the diagonal pairs move 2gthr the winners are not four beating they are all slow its how its supposed to be quit talking about whats natural if u want natural adopt a mustang there is nothing natural about showing/riding a horse they dnt run from the wild into your barn and force people on top them yet most of these horses enjoy what they do

  • Ew. the 2 worst things about hormanship and horses. western and arabians. go read the latest issue of equus- it even talks about how these irregualar gaits are fucking up the horses joints. pitty.

  • Arabs rock

  • Arabians are probably the most versitile horses, have been domesticated longer than any other breed, and have contributed to the creation of countless other breeds Be smart and thank the arabian for making other breeds exist and giving them something to aspire to as for joints, any discipline can cause problems its in the breeding and training. think about the fads like little hooved qh's, or excessively tall warmbloods who loose bone densisty in the breeders quest for height

  • I COMPLETELY agree here. I HATE to see this slow messed up trot/lope stuff. It is even worse on an Arab. Takes the proud look right out of em'.

It looks bad enough on quarter horses but, ARAB'S???!!!!

Brings such shame to the breed.

  • lol. do you actually read equus.

  • nah i just look at the pictures.

really... what a dumb question... ;]

  • equus = most retarded magazine out there? horse & rider pl0x.

  • OMG! That's supposed to be a jog? Oh no - what has happened to our lovely Arabians? :-(

  • Never before in my life have I seen and Arab 4-beat. These are in no way, shape or form natural arabian movements. Yes they are gorgeous horses and precious animals, but let them be who they really are. I barrel race with my purebred Khemosabi daughter Arab and she loves it. Arabs were bred to run fast and look pretty doing it. They have a free spirit, let them show it!

  • yes some of those horses do have their beats wrong, but for the most part they all look very nice. the amount of time and training put into these animals to get them here is incredible and i would take any one of them in a second!

  • Beautiful horses too bad they have messed up the head carriage so bad in the past 10 yrs. They no longer are doing WP correctly, that goes for AHA, AQHA, APHA, ApHC. They all need to go back to the natural way of a horses movements. This is the main reason why I will not show my horse!

  • hahaha are you really that alarmed to see a horse with a real tail? its been groomed and let grow, not tied on. hahaaa

  • Ugh. You're an idiot.

This is hardly worse than AQHA/APHA western pleasure.

  • i agree with your comments, but also: what beautiful horses! I love arabs!

  • Silly me, I always thought a trot was a two-beat diagonal gait and a lope was a three-beat gait. Now that I've seen the pro's I guess I was wrong.

  • its sad what the wp has gone to these days.
