Nebraska is no longer the team it was in their heyday and Iowa and Nebraska are pretty equal right now. A series between the two would be fierce. And good for nebraska, they can get out of that over rated big 12 (minus texas) and come play some real football in the big ten.

@HereComeTheHawkeyes Actually, the Big 12 is the the better conference top to bottom, year in and year out. If the Big 12 were to play the Big 11 I'd guess the Big 12 would win 8 out of 11 games. Texas and Oklahoma would take OSU and Penn St. On the bottom, Baylor and Colorado would take Illinois and Indiana. Nebraska would thrive in the Big 11. I'm looking forward to it!! I hope it happens!

Since contracts between two schools are signed 3-5 years in advance, that means Nebraska agreed to play Iowa 3-5 years before they actually did, which was in '99 and 2000. That means Nebraska agreed to play Iowa long before Fry announced his retirement! If anything, Fry chickened out and retired just before the home and home with Nebraska, leaving Ferentz to get his ass kicked two straight years!!!

But if I had to say who has had the toughest overall seasons in the past years I would have to say Iowa has just a hair advantage over OSU. Both football teams have had pretty even competition over the years though, but OSU has had quite a few weak schedules in the old Big Ten. Next year I see the same thing happening with the divisions. Iowa just has more competion

I noticed that the Ohio State-Purdue game wasn't a 'struggle'....Just an ass-whipping.
It took injuries to the Hawks QB and RBs causing a 4th string freshman RB and a freshman back-up QB to start in the backfeild before they lost...and neither lost was the kind of ass-beating that OSU took against PURDUE.
Now go and watch the Buckeyes get curb-stomped in the Rose Bowl, and embarrass the entire conferance yet again.......thank you for that, really.

The biggest factors in Penn State's favor are the school's huge alumni base spread across the nation, the massive traveling fan base and legendary coach Joe Paterno. Even if Iowa has the better resume on the field, it cannot match Penn State in those other areas.
