Rock, yes, but Rock & Roll is just Rhythm & Blues sung by white guys; it's much much bluesier than this; it's 12 bar blues form and bluesy singing and bringing a little more aggression and pace to blues. Sure, this may have come down a musical path from it, but if you're following it back, it's only a tiny step from Rock & Roll/Rhythm & Blues to straight up blues, and I wouldn't call this blues either.

There are subgenres of everything, and there's no point compartmentalising everything rigidly, but it can be useful if you like a band to know so you can find other bands in the same style.
