wrong. All of the Vista OS's are at the bare bones exactly the same, and i mean 100% identical you just get a few more features the more money you spend for example Aero is only available on business edition and above, Ultimate and Home Premium are even more identical as there is only 1 difference between them and that is "Ultimate extra's" for example Bitlocker. there are NO compatability differences in the editions of windows except there are differences between 64bit and 32bit editions.

also the problem you found with XP Home edition was a suspected Scam type thing, they purposely made XP Home less stable than Professional but this was reversed abut the same time XP Media Centre edition came out (about 2005). now they are the same operating system once again with a few extra networking features thrown into professional.

yes mate, it should be perfectly fine, although as Windows XP is getting older. there are more viruses around than for other OS's so before you even install drivers install an AV even if its a free one like Avast or AVG. But as its a new build if you hold off for a while Windows 7 comes out October 22nd and from the incredible stable Betas I can see that this should be another Windows XP or even better because XP wasn't good at all until Service pack 2 where it became a hell of allot more stable

Ultimate is battar i have HP Dragon with Vista Ultimate and it is so fast when i use my keybord and mose to open things all my games work and like fear 2, roller coaster tycoon 3 and much more i have a lote of games i tested ot and all of them work

I agree. Home Premium FTW. It does almost everything Ultimate does, and that is why I never understood the logistics of buying Ultimate.

All in all, Home Premium makes the most sense, as Home Basic really has nothing to offer, Business makes no sense as most companies are still running XP, and Ultimate is just an extra $90 you threw away for BitLocker and a near identical (if not identical) user experience as compared to Home Premium.

i have installed vista on a laptop... it pased about 8 mounts.. and it works like a fresh installed operating system it has 1 GB of ram 256 video + aero enabled! + dreamscenes + NFS pro street!

Most new Windows OS installs will wipe the hard drive clean, so if you lose data, it's mostly your fault.

i found ultimate to work better for me, i tried home premium but didn't get too much into it. it was just like ehh.

i run the 64 bit version of ultimate. idk if that makes a difference or not. i found ultiamte 32 to be horrible.
