  • I don't think McEnnelly and his band ever made it out of the USA, much less the Boston area, where they were based. The same for Billy Murray. It was priceless seeing Sophie Tucker crack up in the background over "Delphine" at 3:00 - 3:06 - Apparently Tallulah Bankhead, among others is in the crowd with Sophie at around 4:30 but I couldn't really pick her out - I think there is a related newsreel of this party elsewhere that also shows Irving Berlin at this party in London.

  • Great. Thank you for posting.

  • This version of Dinah is one of my favorites--I love the violin!

  • The orchestra in the film is Henry Hall's band, later of the Queen Mary and BBC.

Henry is seen at 0.51 playing the saxophone.

  • Al Starita is playing sax,he was playing at the kit kat club at the time

  • I wish I could transport myself back into 1920's how fun would it be to live in that era,it was all about dancing and having fun!! Thanks for this, favorited!

  • I love watching these..I remember watching the movies on t.v. when I was a little girl..

  • I belong in this era.

  • I'm still in it darling!

  • So am I. They left the door shut , forgot to turn the lights off and I will not get out.

  • 240252 You ahve exceeded yourself this time.really great films.sooo nostalgic.Wonderful music and the acrobatic dancers-is there an olympic discipline in this field I wonder?Thank you.

  • I was just wondering where you got the recording of Dinah? That's my favorite song from the 20s and the first time I heard it was on a Brunswick 78 rpm. I haven't been able to find a recording like it since.....but the recording here is the closest i've ever heard to it.

  • ... its for you uncle Ernst ... i still love you, you are my best, so tar ...

  • Thank you for this wonderful film-and the music was just the perfect touch.

  • So Kit Kat club actually existed?! Wow! That is where the Meldrum girls go for a night out (from "Have you rang, M'Lord?" sitcom).

  • the Meldrum girls? from a film or tv series? Refresh my memory please. thanks

  • great BBC sitcom "You rang M'lord?" (it was shoot in 1988). It takes place in London in the 1920. It starts in a year 1927 to be precise.

  • Thank you so much Aylen Si.

  • Oh Grzegorz, I think you could do better than Sophie Tucker. Maybe, Louise Brooks?

  • GREAT VIDEO! Just love the beginning dancing scene. I think I see you at 3:06 where the singer is tousling your hair, you rascal you. It must have been great to be part of the UPPER CRUST, party, drink champagne and dance the night away.

  • this is when men were men and women were women.

  • the band featured in the film is al starita's kit kat club (jack hylton orgainisation)a hot band which recorded riverside suffle

  • Kit Kat Club...as in the infamous cabaret that employed Sally Bowles?
