I think function and status of the people is more important than race in these social settings. Would Perez Hilton have acted like this in front of the mightiest man in the world? Never.
He was able to do it at a beauty contest because the answers would be judged more on emotion than intellect. Perez wouldn't do it in front of Obama: He is intellectually inferior.
Last it was a big risk. His reaction could just as well turned the nation against the gay community. It didn't but it was risky.
Come on...She said..Its upon everyone how they choose but she and her family is for the oposite sex marriage. She didnt say nothing againts gays, she only said how she wanted it for herselef so go to hell Perez Hilton
Parez Hilton is a "Foul Mouthed Jerk" who asked Carree a "Loaded Question" which ever way she wouldve answered wouldve "offended somone" and his constant bashing and slandering of the poor woman who HAS a right to her own views as anyone else .. she so shouldve seen a lawyer and sued .
Perez Hilton is a bullying little turd. He knew about Carrie Prejean's Christian background, and was baiting her with the question.
And now, Perez and fans are cheering she lost her crown. Keeping in mind she was trying her best to fulfill her contract, and she was fired without even being told. Carrie wanted to give medals at the Special Olympics, and they wouldn't let her. She volunteers with special needs people and wants to be a special ed teacher, that's what she does. She's a good person.
I think the wording of what she said is worse than what she meant. I am not a homosexual, but I was offended just listening to what she said. "In my country" and "a marriage SHOULD be between a
man and a woman" differs from what Barack Said, where he stated he believed it was a "union between a man and a woman". He also stated that the constitution should have no part in preventing same sex couples. "No offense" doesn't necessarily mean no negative feelings; if one were to say, "Please jump off a cliff" it would still be offensive.
Prejean initially said it's wonderful to be an American with the right to choose between same-sex marriage and opposite sex marriage. But then the religious right coddled her and suddenly she became a crusader against same-sex marriage. So, all her yakking about how great it is to be able to choose was just a farce. She really doesn't believe in a choice at all, especially when it benefits her "career" whims. I think Prejean is full of it.
I agree she has the right to speak her belief. Perez hilton has a right to say what he wants to about her. The reason I believe she lost? Miss America is someone who inspires all, Unites all, and is not to alienate many. She was devisive. Because of her answer she deserved to lose.
I strongly agree with tubewatch59...Perez' behavior raises the question of whether a person that lousy and intolerant of other people's views should be allowed to be a judge in that kind of event. Indeed, Barack Obama was asked the same kind of question that Carrie Prejean was asked, the only difference: who evaluated the answer. I think that there should be more class when choosing the judges considering their professionalism when encountering uncomfortable situations
Miss USA isn't about politics or anything. It's about finding someone who cares about the happiness of other people. Their job is to appear neutral in most circumstances. The only time you sound negative to a question like that, is when it involves starving kids in Africa. If you're against something that has nothing to do with you and it makes someone else happy, kiss your crown goodbye.
Thank goodness someone does not compromise themself just to please a bunch of judges. He asked for her OPINION, she gave him her opinion, and he did not like it. WHAT A FAG!
This would not be the 1st time racy photos have surfaced- (remember Vanessa Williams?). Im so sick of the media and hateful morons like Perez Hilton bashing her b/c of her values. Note to Perez and other conservative haters- this is America, NOT Iran. We have a right to our opinion and we dont have to agree with yours! To crucify her as unfairly as you have just shows you have no class!
I totally agree with you!! The only difference that I saw between the answer from the president and Ms Prejean is he didn't say no offense! and he still was elected. Carrie has my vote and I hope through all this she will become more famous. She deserves the best in my eyes. A true American Girl to be proud of.
Good for her. She is a true american lady. She deserves to be crowd. A lady from California that stands for the true meaning of mairage. I am a man from california she restores some faith in the women of California. I know she would love to have won, and for me, She WON big. I would like her to go on all the talk shows and back her statement. She should be placed on top of all pillers and the people that take it in the A** should think about the human body. We are Designed differant for a reason
Perez may have been chosen by Miss California at random however his question was far from random and was intended to bring his own personal agenda to the forefront when in fact it should have been about showcasing equally politically-charged questions of ALL contestants.
She did answer to be true to her beliefs by answering, no different than Obama himself did when asked the same exact question. Even though she likely knew it would cost her all she had worked for. She is the true winner!
HARDLY!!!! A Miss USA represents an organization and an ideal and as such any candidate for the job needs to be both a diplomat and a leader.
A diplomat considers the feelings and worldviews of those around him or her. A leader must do the same and also demonstrate that she is prepared to include, not exclude, no matter what surprising and uncomfortable public speaking situations she might find herself in as she performs her Miss USA work.
Her answer was very diplomatic indeed, while at the same time standing up for her own beliefs. She didn't let herself get pushed around, nor did she attack those she disagreed with. She merely stated her disagreement. She already included, not excluded, homosexuals and offered them her well wishes, while not compromising her own beliefs.
Compare her performance to Hilton's, and ask: Who behaved in a more diplomatic manner? Answer: Carrie Prejean.
I support Miss California and give her props for standing up for what she believes in. I give Perez thumbs down for asking someone who he knew attended a Christian University a politically-charged question and how she would likely answer, at least to be true to her beliefs. I support her answer 100%.
I think the gay community didn't get upset with the president because everyone felt he was not telling the truth. Most president including him will play what ever card to become president. Thats my logic.
so u think he does accept gay marriage, why do gay people always come out with crap like that. They even believe jesus was gay and half of history. The dude was in an all black church with rev freaking wrights u think he didnt mean it.Not to mention theres the chance that he is muslim which i doubt but still. Why the hell would gay people convince themselves that he would lie. Accept the fact that majority of america does not accept it.
Perez Hilton used his incredible media power to basically execute this girl worldwide.
Let me say that I do not agree with Miss California at all. However in a free society we have to allow everyone to have their opinions. She merely said that she had been raised believing this.
Even though I do not agree with her I do not understand Perez's reaction.
He is a media manipulator and therefore the more we talk about him the happier he is.
I think people are forgetting that Miss California was not leading the competition anyway. She scored behind Miss North Carolina in swimsuit and evening gown. So i do not believe that her answer cost her the crown.
katfellow, I find it funny how Mario Lavandeira/'Perez Hilton' said she "alienated" people with her answer yet he alienates anybody who disagrees with him and writes terribly malicious things about public figures and alienates the public figure and their fans. He is highly hypocritical and full of himself.
His life of gossip is a disgrace and it's a disgrace he was even allowed to be a judge.
what a shame that Carrie Prejean got so far and so close, only to have the crown taken away by a gay man that only asked a question to bring his beliefs to the forefront of national television. I have to agree with you on this one Xaves, Trashing a person do to their personal belief is wrong. He asked the question of her and should have been prepared for either answer.
Perez Hilton is an oaf who weems to believe that news media exists only to trash and "out" gay celebrities.
While I fully support gay marriage (providing the individual Church agrees and isn't pressured into it) I must also support Carrie Prejeans views. If she did indeed lose the contest because of that answer, then that is political discrimination.
I think Prejean didn't win namely because Hilton gave her a zero from what I heard. He had no basis for being there in the first place. Had it been up to America, she would've won. I thought it was great that she stuck with her beliefs despite knowing what people wanted to hear. I also think that the venue and her sex also played a role in why she lost, and not so much her race. She's in a beauty pageant (joke to some) and she's female; people have different expectations from women I think.

Do you think of yourself as tolerant?
Someones opinion cannot be an offense to anybody - unless he is untolerant.
You are such an ignorant.

People probably would have attacked a minority contestant for the same answer - but probably not to the same degree.

American Gay Fascism designed as a philosophical movement based on
advocating a new system of family tradition.
Constant suppression of the opposition, known as flaming, through
media censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism
towards Christianity.

Perez is full of fail.
He complains that her answer alienates some people & her answer divides, instead of unites.
ANY answer to his question would have alienated & divided.
By his reaction to her answer, I think he had a PERSONAL interest in her answer, was not objective & that made him a terrible judge.
The interviews he's done afterwards have been nothing but damage control for Donald Trump IMO.
I need to make a follow-up video on this subject.
