@bluesman89666 there are 2 things you can do with music: create atmosphere, or create background noise to a singer. a good example of that is the instrumental version of "Oblivion" by Mastodon. this is very mainstream. creating atmosphere is what Summoning [and others] do. this kind of music doesn't capture you with beats, it captures you with emotion and thoughts, almost taking you out of this world into something more ethereal. it takes some getting used to, but i definitely prefer it.
