"The wheelie was done in third gear without the clutch. compress the front shock by bouncing once , and then give gas. Get to the balance point , and keep the throttle steady.
Start at around 110 km/h , and bounce. Keep accelerating until the balance point is reached. That happens around 140 km/h ,depending on your weight and load.
This wheelie was done in third gear and around 150 km/h
I know when touring you have to look for ways to cut down unecessary expense, is this how you save tyre costs? get a full journey without replacing a front tyre, LOL Very impressive.
That would be an impressive wheelie on a sports bike, but even more impressive on such a large heavy lump with luggage, high COG, and relatively low power (for weight). Wish I could get enough prcatice to get that good...
""cascader"" is a brave word!!! i mean that you ride like a cascader of the difficult scenes of hollywood movies!!!the cascader is a job ,the directors use the cascaders for the dangerus scenes at the films!!!for example the TOM CRUSE NOT NEED cascader to do the dangerus scenes with cars or moto.he is doing himself!! are you cascader??very nice wheelie!!! which gear you use for the wheelie 3km??
hi there andy. i am the one doing this wheelie in botswana. only part of the wheelie was filmed , because my friend could not get the camera out in time to film it from the start. i enjoy the comments posted from time to time , but do not appreciate the bullshit comment , for he was not there to see. however , he can come down to my home and see for himself. took years of practise to wheelie this mothership , and i am proud to be one of few.
Thanks for commenting here....I for one can appreciate only too well how hard it would be to maintain a wheelie like that! :niceone:
As the the BS comment, I could have deleted but prefer to respond rather than censor for the most part.....comments like that just serve to give everyone a measure of the poster ;-)
thanks andy. keep up the good work. maybe we'll meet one day. by the way , this wheelie was done at 150 km/h. the clip however was done in slow motion to get a better quality. a friend of mine posted it on youtube without me knowing about it before it was banned.
congratulation! I have heared that this is very bad for the engine, because the oil can not circulate in this angle for long time - is there something about this rumor or what to do to not damage the motor during long wheelies? Have you modified your bike?
It's bad for wet sump engine where oil is scavenged.
It's less more so for dry sump engines (KTM 950, Yamaha Tenere) where there is oil tank and low engine lubrication is done by trochoidal pumps generally.
Its not too bad for the Boxer GS because motor is horizontal and oil can still circulate enough. My friend owns a Suzuki GSXR 1000 and he rode a 12oclock wheelie like the video and fried the motor becuase the oil can not pump the pressure at high rpm's at the angle. Plus the BMW has a 7 year warranty, if it breaks they replace it lol!
Echt super...sau geil...das würd ich auch gern können...which gear and which speed ????

You can remove your front wheel to reduce the bike weight :))

Love the skill and how nice the wheelie looks but I have to ask:
Why risk a crash (it can happen in the most common situations) on a long journey like the one they seem to be doing?
