The store I bought it from ended up servicing it for me. I made this video just to prove to them that I was indeed setting the lens correctly and that there was a problem. Never buy anything from Jim's cameras in Seattle WA.
did you ever figure it out? mine was doing that same thing, because I had it sitting next to a cold window, but now it seems ok. I hope yours is fixed too.
sometimes they can do that due to lack of use - nevertheless should not have sold it to you like that.
