  • Because there is simply nothing to comment on music such as that produced by Joy Division,

I will only point out the irony in "Dead Souls- Live"

  • any more videos from this gig? found love will tear us apart but thats it...

  • whats the name of the piano song at the end of Control movie?

  • @violationoftheart Atmosphere.

  • @cometogether21 no no when he put the iggy pop album, there's a background music

  • BEAUTIFUL MUSIC, THE WHOLE FUCKING COLLABORATION OF IT IS JUST SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL.......IT BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES..........

  • Charlie Sheen's drug is called Ian Curtis

  • who the fuck would dislike this?

  • @kieleyfroude The uploader !!!

  • @kieleyfroude

    haha one person xD

    good question!

  • @kieleyfroude Some who couldn't get in.

  • he sings rock but he seems to be dancing salsa.

  • @MrCrgl He sings Ian Curtis and he dances Ian Curtis.

  • They keep calling me!!!

  • absolutely epic. love how he gets lost in his own music

  • for ever and ever one of my favourite song....so long boy...

  • Someone take these dreams away...

  • @aliceasr then point me to another day, a duel of personalities, that stretch all true realities!

  • not counting all of joy divisions genius song writing ect. ian was the most honest performer front man.he moved from his disease into the music.nothing remotely fake about that.not trying to please anyone.

  • Found this from the Joy Division documentary film on hulu.com. Had no idea this was a JD song!

  • joy division was amazing !!

  • Ooh Ooh OOh!! Juste Excellent! Magnifique, je m'en tape les mains tellement j'aime cette chanson! Oh j'adore cette chanson!!

  • eerie stuff but brilliant

  • may 18th rip

  • It's been just 30 years since Ian Curtis took the hard decision to leave us.

But his soul is well alive into us, as Joy Division's sound and legacy are unique, as much in the years to come, as in all those past.

  • MUITO MUITO BOM.

    SIMPLESMENTE BRILHANTE.

AS SUAS MUSICAS AINDA HOJE SÃO RECORDADAS E OUVIDAS,TALVEZ MAIS QUE MUITAS EDITADAS A SEMANA PASSADA.

  • NO "BAND" can touch this band,,,nuff sed

  • Please dont compare Nirvana to Joy Division...we must have been through this a thousand times :(

  • Ian Curtis will never die!

Although, as much as I love his dancing, its scary mainly because its so close to a fit, and I know its the point, but still. fits are scary.

  • Obviously one for the die hard fans. Audio is terrible (even for the tube) unless he really did sound this bad? All in all this is far from the best version of the song I've ever heard.

  • It's pointless even to write Joy Division never sold out, of course not, they did not survive long enough to get to that point where they would of been tested. On the other hand New Order most certainly did, they whored their tracks, mostly because the Hacienda and other mad projects at Factory made them skint!

  • i disagree, new order never sold out cos they never conformed to the mainstreams ideals, and kept their punk ethos

  • Why is everyone comparing Nirvana and Joy Division? Completly different scenes.

  • that one could be one of their best song, but it's a personal choice.

  • awesome moves i mean it positive

    rip ian

  • Ian Curtis is genius!

  • Joy Division's legacy to the 80's was that of Nirvana's to the 90's. Raw, pure, with no cosmetics.

Ian was his own - poet, musician, innovator. RIP

  • well put!

  • nirvana had a huge production budget and were very high quality, and essentially a pop band who charted very well. although great, not raw, unless you're talking about early demos.

  • Comment removed

  • "Not raw?? LOL - that's like saying The Clash sound like chamber music.. Pop Band?!? find a current pop band with songs labelled "territorial pissing" or "rape me".. They were anti-pop"

if you think nirvana's anti-pop you're wrong. their songs were raw but with pop structure. listen to suicide, the pop group, john cage and the scientist. even punk music has the pop format. there's nothing alternative about the clash or nirvana's sound. great bands but not exactly 9 hour songs of white noise.

  • the difference is, Nirvana were sellouts, unlike joy division which makes joy division's music much more rich, plus grunge is not complex, which shows you their is no comparison between a band with talent like joy division to a pathetic band that required of 2-3 chords to play

  • To be fair; Sumner isn´t exactly famous for his variation with chords...

  • @Exeron91 hmmm....dident really need toi t was a band effort rather than the guitar bores of the early mid seventies, i think extra complex guitar would have detracted from the other three and the songs would have needed more complex arrangements the energy would have been blunted, i think really they had the balance just right, as warsaw they were too limited , if they made higher virtuoisty music it is probable the overall effect would diminish but the time machine is still in garage.

  • @birdandthe

Right on....bs and ph play the most pissant and trifling two note riffs, the kind you play when you've just started playing and you think "christ I'm terrible"...but all these trivial parts come together to form something that's timeless and captivating(I know that's really awful writing), and steve vai couldn't touch that shit with a ten foot pole.

  • Forget all the political bs just sit back and enjoy a genius at work. Ian you are missed RIP. I'm 40 now and this still sounds just as awesome as the first time I heard it. Joy Division truly are peerless. Just my opinion so flame away.

  • this is the dance of new wave!!!!!!

  • I like the way they dress. To me it looks like the sixties and the four are skipping out on a business meeting to play on stage.

  • love the dance!

  • Glad you kept this - it's historical!

  • amazing that u have this

  • Ian!!

    his voice lives on, friends.

and not to mention New Order picking up where he left off.

  • This music is so pure and raw. It is fucking genius!

  • You know, I firmly believe I was born ten years too late.

  • Me too.

  • id have killed to go see them live

  • Well thats a might fine argument friend. Can't really compete with that gem of logic.

  • Man, Ian Curtis was a fucking genius and so were the other band members.

  • Thanks "oposoum" for this video.

  • What is that a hateful comment for attention it's music man everyone has a different taste because we are all unique and different and if you don't like them you can say that but don't demean them just to get a rise out of people that's just childish and I'm sure your better than that.

  • Why can't Joy Division and NiN both be good?

Reznor covers Joy Division out of respect and a love for their music.

It always has to be one or the other, this is better than that, puff your chest out and proclaim dominance.Good music is good music so just leave it at that.

  • Def. and double true with the moby cover he did for the movie HEAT. The only cover i hate is the one from the killers but that's because flowers is a homo. the covers also mutually compliment each other, too

  • fuck you stupid homophobic nazi

  • right. being a nazi and stupid has everything to do with what i said.

  • you are very unaware,After taking power in 1933, the Nazis persecuted homosexuals as part of their socalled moral crusade to racially and culturally purify Germany.

  • being socialist isn't bad at all and in principle socialists aren't racist or homophobes . BUT being nationalist isn't just simply something inspired by a love for the nation but it's a way to reject everything different from them (religiously , racially ...) .it can be characterized by the persecution of minorities ( for exemple homos). If you don't believe me ask the nazis what they think of Gays !

  • lol " ms paint " classic

  • everyone go watch the movie control then tell me how good nine inch nails is

  • To me Ian had more balls than any of the pioneers of music.

  • thank goodness we can see this rather than the shit we must hear now rip ian

  • NIN version has nothing on this :) oposoum thanks for sharing

  • they sure changed the face of modern music .. unbeliveably briliant.

  • that's like saying you prefer the mspaint monalisa over the real one

  • Someone get this guy a helmet.

  • One of the greatest songs ever written. I love this!!!

  • Oh, Joy Division owned and still owns the world... They'll always be awesome and at first in my playlists.

  • oposoum...where the hell did you find this?

    Giving this one 5 stars.

  • you shoulda hung up when they called ya bro... your missed

  • Ian's on-stage motions are more subtly provocative and disturbing than anything the Sex Pistols did, I think. It's all about understatement.

  • Hooray for oposoum!! Thank you!

Can you tell us what year this was?

  • i think this is from 1980,not long before he died...maybe '79 though...and i believe it's the University of London show....

  • FUCK !

  • i dont know what to say, i'm lost for words...thank-you oposoum!!

  • anyone know which venue this was, or even the date?

  • i hate when the audio cuts out

  • history you retard, history

  • according to control then yeah, i think it could've been

  • Is this the show where he had a seizure?

  • he had seizures at a shitload of gigs

  • he had seizures in quite a few shows during their last tour of the UK, but i think sam riley must've watched this video before they shot the scene from control.

  • Great performance

  • increible que el sonido de jd siga vigente...........esta banda es de lo mas original que ha existido

  • theres something about joy divisions music that is brutal and raw yet fucking beautiful at the same time a truly awesome band.

  • bloody hell finding this was awesome !

  • yhea any more from this vid????

  • this is from their video "Here are the young men" - good post!
