  • What size was the brim cut out? Or should I say how many inches wide was the circle that you cut out?

  • 10"

  • OMG! LOL! So cute :)

  • Thank you! :)

  • @laurapoopie You're welcome. :)

  • How many servings would just the hat portion have?

  • This one if I remember correctly was carved out of 6" rounds so probably around 8 servings.

  • @laurapoopie so you did 3 layers that were 6" and then the smaller top cake was a 4"?

  • The top cake (the hat) was carved out of 6" rounds. The bottom tier (the brown one) were 8" rounds. :)

  • @laurapoopie Thanks. I guess in the picture it looked like a smaller layer was sitting on top of the 6" cakes. Sorry for all the questions...

  • Don't worry about it sweetheart! :)

  • Laura.. how many servings does a cake like this have? Thanks

  • I would say roughly around 30. :)

  • thank u laura! :)

  • hi Laura this im also Laura. im trying to learn how to do the hat part how is it that u did it? i had used 2 8 inch cake cans and a oval i belive a 6 inch and placed it on top of the 2 inch but it looked really ugly could u please help me?

  • Hi Laura! I used the same pan sizes you used as wll. The trick is in the carving. It helps to have a picture of a hat in front of you so you can carve it by eyeballing it. :0)

  • OMG girl, I love your hat! it turned out awesome. one question though? what size of pans did you use to make it.

  • Thank you! The three bottom layers of the hat were 8" and the top one was a 6". Glad you liked it! ;0)

  • is gum paste the same as fundant? love all your cakes..

  • Thank you! Actually, same but different. LOL! Gumpaste is fondant that has gum mixed into it like tylose, CMC, or gum tragacanth. It makes it pliable but hardens like teracotta clay. :0)

  • Hey Laura, this is great! Do you make your own gum paste or use a pre-made one?

  • Thank you! Glad you liked it! :) I make my own gumpaste. :)

  • @laurapoopie Oh wow, really? May I ask for your recipe... ? If you don't want to share, I will understand! :)

  • It's not really much of a recipe. LOL! If you go to Aine2's page here on youtube, you will find the tutorial. That's where I got it from. :)

  • @laurapoopie Oh thanks loads for that Laura! I want to try and make it someday. Think I'll have to order that powder stuff over the internet hehe.
