I just watched this movie again for the first ime in a few years, and it is gut bustingly funny. There are SO many awesome parts, I could fill 10 comments with all the parts I love.
Andy Griffith was awesome, the town root junkie, Sela Ward (cattle baron's daughter was a BABE), the sheep herders, (the 'I'll shoot your wife in the shoulder' -scream! ), the 'do you have 3 rifles with telescopic scopes? 'yes'', the emergency break on the train, and Bob Barber. SO many awesome scenes. LOVE IT
I don't think it is actually Tom Berenger singing. That may be part of the spoof on low-budget westerns, where the voice of the hero singing is dubbed by a singer who sounds quite different from the actor himself.
@LtsSng1 Yeah- I watched this in the 80's, and it is sorta hokey, but I still loved it - GORGEOUS Palomino he rode, wasn't he? And I got a bang out of seeing all the clothes, hats, the elaborate gunbelt, etc. Sela Ward was great as Andy Griffith's daughter- remember how she got dragged for what looked like MILES by her horse- and when Tom caught up with her & stopped the horse - he bent down and wiped a small smear of dirt from her cheek? she should've looked MUCH worse- SO funny --

I like when the town drunk turns into the town "root" guy.

This is one of my favorite movies. I laugh hysterically every time I see it. "You know, root?"

This is the very definition of "underrated 80's movie." Thanks for the clip!

Hi there! Thanks for uploading this piece of video. I never saw Tom Berenger singing! Is he really singing himself? Best regards from Germany!
