i meant albert king not freddie king. either way all the JM haters need to realize what john has done for blues music. JM is the first artist to bring blues music to the main stream since SRV. THINK ABOUT THAT!!
@guitarfan8815 your statement is grossly inaccurate. john mayer is one of the late bloomers when it comes to blues or blues rock revival phenoms. he's incredible, i love him, but i believe in giving credit to where credit is due: joe bonamassa has been a blues player since he could learn to walk, and never sold out to make it in this blues-as-yesterday's-news world. KWS is another name that should be mentioned, as well as derek trucks.
@dconrad1987 i understand where you are coming from. the names you mentioned are for sure the true blues rock guys. i love Trucks, Bonnamassa, and KWS. These guys didn't sell out. but you have to understand that these guys wont ever have the fan base that John has. they were never considered Pop artist. John took the mainstream crowd and when he started playing blues, they followed. The other guys' fan base were already blues lovers. nothing new was introduced for the most part.
@dconrad1987 my point is that mainstream music usually sucks. the mainstream crowd (which is followed by the music industry itself) consist of 16-25 year old girls.(mainly). the are the largest consumers in the industry so naturally mainstream music tends to follow what will sell to them. John did his pop stuff and got in that nitch. then he started playing blues and they listened. Under any other circumstances they wouldn't be listening to blues music.
@guitarfan8815 I agree. I think that it was very clever the way Mayer did that. Started out poppy then went to blues, emphasizing good musicianship and soulful music.
He got the mainstream listening to, pardon...but, good music again. Instead of the prescribed record label electronic, no talent bullshit.
@dconrad1987 Bonamassa is good, but when I listen to his music I just dont feel it. If you listen to SRV, you know that you don't just listen to it....you feel his music in your heart and soul. I do not think Bonamassa has that ability. He is very technical though, and I can greatly appreciate his skill. Mayer, on the other hand, does have that ability to make the listener feel his music. Maybe not on everything he plays, but alot of what he plays. This is all very subjective anyway.
@42lynchmob Healey was great, a true inspiration. But I don't see how playing guitar is a competition. We can compare great guitarist all day long, but whether one is better than the other is for the individual to decide. One might think the Jonas Brothers got them both beat (ridiculous)...but the point is that this is all very subjective. Personally, when I compare great guitarists, I don't see one as being better than the other but simply different.
@curtgenerowe Your right dude, was just haven a JEFF moment. lol... And John is a great player, but, he just doesnt have what Jeff did in my humble opinion.
i am so tired of people saying that John Mayer is a rip off. I love Stevie Ray Vaughan but if you listen to him and then Freddie King you would say that Stevie ripped off Freddie. I am serious, just listen to some of the albums that they play together on. Jimi Hendrix use to take a recording device to Buddy Guy shows to pick up his licks and Buddy's psychedelic style. It goes on and on. But it isn't about who stole what, good music is always a stepping stone process.
Why is it that guitarist always wanna sound like somebody else... I hear SRV, nothing else. Do your own thing JM for the sake of originality... do something that really scares you on guitar because that's what makes authenticity.
@Dinscripter Stevie got his from Jimi Hendrix, and the texas blues sound. It is very near impossible to do anything that isn't derivative of something before, in music.
Yeah, he's definitely ripping off SRV note for note and the tone, but SRV ripped off Albert King....remember this was 2004. However, he's gotten better and more original..but I did hear JM recently, and he's good, but he's nowhere near his idol Clapton. The genius of Clapton is that he can sit there and hang with BB, Albert King and Buddy Guy, and then go play a Hendrix or Cream tune with all the power and finess, and leave you crying the blues....
Why all the hate.. This is in 2004. He has developed so much more since then. You can't judge somebody based on 7 years ago. The thing I really enjoy about this, is that he can expose the blues to a younger generation, despite originality. That's something no other pop artist does.
Uhh I mean come on? Srv did a lot of albert king licks, but he at least threw other shit in...and his tone was at least different. Its a fine line but mayer isn't doing ANYTHING original
"He needs to go work a day job digging ditches and work some real dirt floor buckets of blood. He needs to know what the Bluesreally is right now he don't. He hasn't led the blues life."
There are just so many stupid people commenting on YouTube, sometimes I don't even know what to say.
its not bad...but i mean really, its one thing to be inspired by someone. but hes ripping of SRV licks NOTE FOR NOTE...i mean even kenny wayne shepherd and johnny lang dont drip off SRV this hard.
i mean really just listen to so excited by stevie ray...essentially the same thing and hes a better player
@MrJdvance whats wrong with a guy having fun and playing the music he's influenced by? All guitarist emulate their idols, and its not like JM's trying to prove anything in this video. He's just having a great time, and i'm jelly he gets to do it
This kid is doing a great job! He needs to lead the blues life? You don't have to have led some horrible life to be a bluesman. Everyone has the blues and some people can display it like this young guitar slinger. I laugh so hard at some of the comments the "experts" toss out.
This kid has got along way to go. He needs to go work a day job digging ditches and work some real dirt floor buckets of blood. He needs to know what the Bluesreally is right now he don't. He hasn't led the blues life.
John is an accomplished guitar player who never sings or plays to higher than the musician he is covering---but nobody can sing or play better than Freddie King.
Ol' Big Buster Balls gots some issues. He is kind of right, but until you hear Freddie and Gatemouth Brown gettin' down, you might not understand of what he speaks, albeit crude, rude, and socially unacceptably unpolished.
I can play it this good, and I haven't picked up my Gibson (same as Clapton's, WISH it were Freddie's)in a while. But blues come from the heart and toes. You cain't feel it if you'se ain't walked it!! Go easy there, BBB, maybe you won't scare off a would be B.B. -JM is young
John Mayer is manufactured fucking twinkle toe'd little cocksucker fuck. Oh... and he sucks dick. Teenie-boppers version of the REAL great blues guitarist. You bubble gum chewing little fucks. Fuck You.
I am not a fan , But great version of this song.I was listening to all the different versions of this song. Claptons, Hendix, Gary moore,This is right up there as far as musicianship.Great guitar tone. Have to give him credit. He can play.
holy crap can't people just accept he's a great musician? if you didn't notice, he's got a very british sarcastic kind of humor that makes him seem like an a-hole because he has no british accent :)
its totally cool john likes the blues and trys to emulate the bluesman, but its starting to piss me off how much he robs stevie ray vaughn and seems to play it like its his own. He needs his own style! it seems to be working anyway, getting him layed and playing to large crowds so screw it i guess thats cool.
@doubleddrummer stevie ray vaughan robbed from jimi hendrix as much as john robbed from stevie ray,, does that piss you off too? He has his own style,, his first acoustic album "inside wants out" still blows my mind,, techniques nobody uses (neon) and chords nobody uses...(no such thing) and oh yeah, he likes to play electric guitar sometimes.
@Ccbroo No dude stevie took from alot of people like everybody else, the difference is that stevie ended up with his own style. John just trys to be like stevie. period. you can copy all you want but you need something unique of your own out of it and capitalize on it like all the greats did. sorry dude.
@doubleddrummer I disagree m8. John has created a harmony between pop and blues you d rarely see other guys do. From a guitar player point of view, I see John mainly as an acoustic player, because I know that any song he ever writes first comes on his acoustic before it gets to his electric. He has many innovative fingerpicking styles and chords down that stevie didn't have. Besides, John rarely plays SRV covers,, why? Because he said himself nobody can sound like SRV.
@Ccbroo I gotta admit i like grooving to some of his pop hits... so you got me there dude. I just think he emulates people too much. even with the other chords he plays and finger pickin stuff. I didn't just mean stevie ray, also albert king which is like in your face on this one. if he could pull off stevie he would do it. But don't get me wrong i am very proud to have someone playing blues and for that i give him a ton of credit. I just get a wierd feeling like its not from him or something.
If playing off key discounts him as a bluesman then you had better eliminate Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, BB King and so on and so on. Some of the recordings made by those guys on cheap old instruments that actually couldn't be tuned to be harmonically correct are among their most authentic. Blues is the one musical genre that forgives almost any shortcoming except for sincerity.
Children... you wouldnt know a REAL bluesman if he hit you over the head with his National Steel guitar. Eric Clapton to this day will tell you he stands in awe when he plays with the great bluesmen. Clapton even said he would never consider himself to be a true bluesman because he wasnt born black (which I disagree with). I doubt seriously if Mayer's own ego would allow him to be in awe of anybody other than who he sees in the mirror. So I rescind the remark about shitting all over himself .
@ McCants01- There are blues "players" and there are bluesmen. Mayer is just a blues imitator.
Sounds like he even went off key at 2.55. Probably paying too much attention to the little girls in the front row. Blues...my ass. Mayer would shit all over himself if he ever had to stand on stage with real a bluesman, let alone Freddie King,
@Harleydom55 "Mayer would shit all over himself if he ever had to stand on stage with a real blues man" mmm he played with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, BB KING, and he did it very well :) so wtf are you sayin? 1st: listen, 2nd: talk. thank you
@Harleydom55 The greats fuck up sometimes, my man. BB, Clapton, Buddy Guy- they all cank every once in a blue. Probably more often than you'd think. They've played thousands of shows.. it's bound to happen. Watch Albert King and Gary Moore do Stormy Monday. Albert King fell out of key for like two measures. Shit happens. You would know if you were a performing musician.
@Harleydom55 Seriously? Most of his stuff is either straight blues or has a lot of blues influences. Like all of his John Mayer Trio stuff is blues and the entire Continuum album had a lot of blues influences. That's what he does and he's very good at it.
Johns problem is hes a great guitar player with a bad attitude , in fact hes a meglomaniac ,egotistical jerk ....but guess what those are all human traits .... so let him who has no sin cast the first stone ........YOU DONT HAVE TO LIKE JOHN TO LIKE HIS MUSIC ...GET OVER IT FOLKS !!!
He is a really good intro to the young generation , the girls can't get enough of this fella & the young up and coming guitarits look up to him as the next to pass on the blues , old and new songs . in my generation was of cause srv and zztop yep the 80s were really cool if you listened to cool music.
@253ization Yeah, 80s managed to happen strong as far as blues goes. Check out Duke Robillard and The Pleasure Kings doing "Let Me Love You"; it's up on YT.
John Mayer is probably the most technical guitar player there is...but what he is missing is just the ...feel..(i think). I thought he was really good when he did love songs...
problem is with the way he treated women..the love songs hold no merit somehow..and blues is about the truth, thats why we love it. But kudos to him for saying that he would just play his music, whatever kind and stop being naty to women.
This pop star, pretty boy loser can't play his way out of a paper bag. Crap tone, Crap Licks, Crap Riffs, Crap Chords, just Crap. There are literally 100 guitar players in clubs across this very moment as I type this, could cut this punk down to size and make him go home cryin' to his mama.
Can you provide a single reason as to why you think the licks and chords were "crap" in this rendition? I believe you like to talk out of your ass, so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.
@dennisl2008 cry baby cry. i think in the case of mayer many people think he has no feel is because they dont want to open up to him. i love srv jimi bb and mayer, and like often said here its awesome that heis a shinin star in the mainstream who gets people (like me ) to start listening to the classics
@nontrog i agree with what you are saying, but check out johnny lang and kenny wayne shepard... they are in the same boat. kenny played with derek trucks when hewas like 13
Sara Bareilles, Jason Mraz(vocally), and a handful of others (I'm just too lazy to list) are the only artists who have voices and instrumental talent that are doing things right these days. Everyone else uses pre-recorded tracks or makes tracks on an MPC and call it a hard days work and that's a shame. Haters need to lay off the Hater-aid and see where the talent really lies; and John Mayer has that talent. If my word isn't enough go buy not rent, Where The Light Is and be enlightened.
@MouseGenome,,,Really dude get out more often,,,,,No one else huh?,,,try, Bonamassa, stevens, lang, shepard,Cray,,,,All of these guys kicks, Mayers ass.
if you really think this is good blues ck out Claptons version, or Freddie Kings,,now that is blues,,,,
The dreaded blues swing beat... a difficult tempo to cut loose to... it's too fast to play fast and too slow to play slow... this kid does a good job... Clapton's great at this tempo too.
@bondurango What blues guitarist, like legit blues guitarist could really sing? I mean they all had unique voices, but they were known for lyrics and guitar.. just like John is. And besides he'll admit anyday he doesn't have the strongest voice.
When it comes to opinions, some are more valid than others & only idiots need to level the playing field. Anybody who thinks a Donny Osmond voice validates the blues is not only delusional, but ignorant when it comes to music.
@bondurango You clearly don't understand the concept of opinions. Your opinion is that John Mayer sounds like Donny Osmond. I and half of America clearly disagree. And the last time I checked, there is far more to the blues than a singing voice. Anybody who thinks the blues is made via voice alone and not the skill of the guitarist and emotion behind what they're singing is not only ignorant when it comes to the blues, but has absolutely no say so in anything regarding music.
"You clearly don't understand the concept of opinions."
Is that a fact or an opinion? Now, if you're not just stupid, you'd know MY concept doesn't respect all opinions, not because I don't understand but because I don't respect ignorance & if you think "half of America" has an opinion about John Boy that agrees with your own, you're not only delusional, but psychotic, which explains your hypocritical, double standard when it comes to expressing contrary opinions.
@bondurango My intial contribution to the conept of opinions was to say that it was your OPINION that John Mayer sounds like Donny Osmond. So clearly I understand YOUR concept of opinions because it's the GENERAL RULE of opinions. Not everyone agrees with anything. I said it was clear that you didn't understand opinions because you said "Anybody who thinks a Donny Osmond voice validates the blues is not only delusional, but ignorant when it comes to music" <OPINION. You contradicted yourself sir
"I said it was clear that you didn't understand opinions because you said...<OPINION. You contradicted yourself sir"
Thinking there's logic in saying I don't understand opinions because I have my own opinion proves YOU don't understand opinions or logic. Using the "GENERAL RULE", your opinion that it's a contradiction is not only ignorant but invalid because it's not true.
@bondurango I don't even think you know what we're talking about anymore. I said you contradicted yourself because you said I was stupid, ignorant, invalid, delusional, and psychotic because of my OPINION. The GENERAL RULE of opinions is that everyone has their own is it not? I came to you in a very logical manner saying that John Mayer said he didn't like his voice and you come back with "Donny Osmond wannabe" and I'm the ignorant one? Clearly. CLEARLY you have absolutely no live. FACT.
@bondurango I said half of America agrees with me is not opinion. It's hyperbole. But clearly not everyone thinks he sounds like Donny Osmond because I believe he's won 7 Grammy's and is highly popular. And furthermore, I don't see how any of this has a damn thing to do with the blues.
Hyperbole, eh? So you got your panties tied in a knot because Donny Osmond is not hyperbole? That's just more double standard nonsense. As for the Grammys, that's precisely my point, it has nothing to do with the blues becase he's never won any for R&B, Traditional or Contemporary Blues (6 Pop, 1 Rock). Any Pop castrato can win a grammy. But the Blues is adult music. John Boy need not apply.
@bondurango No Donny Osmond is not hyperbole. It's your opinion. Me saying half of America is no longer opinion because I don't know that factually, it's hyperbole because I'm exaggerating. If I had have said you were using hyperbole about John Mayer's voice I'm sure you would have gone into some long, ridiculous discussion about the qualifications of hyperbole. I really truly don't understand what you have against John Mayer and the blues but c'mon, mate. Really? Like... for real?
@RosaParks312353 And if you say one more fucking thing to me I am blocking the hell out of you. Don't doubt it. Fuck trying to present my argument in a logical manner. Fuck trying to be mature or an adult or any other insult you will surely come back with. Hell I'm not mature and I don't have the best temper in the world. Taking this long to cuss you out is a sure sign I'm doing a good job.Talking to people like you is completely pointless because you hear what you want to hear and fuck the rest
@BL80488 I hope that wasn't the answer to the question of a blues artist who could really sing. Because frankly, Eric Clapton doesn't have like omg fantastic vocals. Eric Clapton is like my favorite blues artist next to BB of course, but he sings like a normal person who sings. Not like incredible vocals.
great tone he uses the cornish fuzz which is worth big £££££ i bought my fuzz pedal from MW pedals got the FUZZYTONE brand new, hand built , NOS components , sturdy as a tank, brand new for £45 ?????????? absolute bargain!!!!! go to myspacecom/mwpedals for soundclips
also i use a boss super overdrive 2 with the keeley mod well worth the extra money !!!!! great sound simply great all in all with mod the pedal is around £60!?!? dont spend a fortune sounding great !!!!\
Why in the Hell hasnt John Mayer Sliced off some CD's of his blues he is a phenomenal guitarist.......and if there is somebody please point me the way
Well it's easy to hate on Mayer. He's had his craft heard by millions , plays to packed venues all over the world and he's fucking girls that all these losers sit at home and jack off to. I think John is a little more content with life than a bunch of never was's sitting on a computer flaming his youtube videos. They hate people they're jealous .... it's the world's oldest song
@myjsallday44 People hate him because he's a pompous, conceited, "my shit don't stink" kind of a-hole. So, if you like him, well, that says a lot about you.
@myjsallday44 Actually, the world's oldest song is a dick suck like you who defends someone else merely because you're a sycophantic worshiper. You're far worse of a cock sucking, smelly asshole than those who attack Mayer.
@Dogheadj But in the grand scheme of things, I would gladly take "Hey that John Mayer fellow was an ASSHOLE but he could play the hell out of guitar" any day.
It's amazing to me to see how people who are claiming to be musicians can sit here and trash Mayer like this. It's laughable, he even makes a mistake, like the rest of us real musicians. Roland, BS man lol. Everyone is the greatest when you can't go knock on their door and see if they can back up all of the crap they talked. Yeah, he copies SRV, who copied Hendrix, who copied all of the before greats, it's how blues rolls. Period. And I play exclusively blues, FYI, pretty well, 17 years........
he aint playing nothing knew in the blues i was doing the same bullshit before he was born or johnny lang or any other young blues player anyways he can play no doubt but why when i was younger and was skinny and looked good was i held down why and believe me i could smoke stevie ray anyfucking blues player u put up against me i wish i had a camera back then and for the last 25 years or more anyways hes a pop star that can oplay the blues but he aint no blues legend maybe in thirty years
yeah he aint doing nothing for me and i been playing before he was born anyway check out roland duguay and rolandvids and consider its just on a ten watt amp and before you get mad and diss it just remember that buddy guy let me close his show 3 times 25 years ago and said u just dont know what u got and if u meet buddy guy ask him if he knows me i also played and toured with albert collins and toured with ac reed and when i was young like this i could kick his ass and stevie and eric and anyone
people say all he does is covers. Clapton did a whole album of robert johnson, srv played many albert king songs. All the blues greats played many covers, just in there own way
i think everyone that is posting negative comments needs to realize that John Mayer is very brave and cool for doing a freddie king cover other than san ho zay or hide away. We should all admire how he is paying tribute and at the same time introducing all those pop going teenagers that go to see him play.
@TheBigdummi It is 12 Bar Blues, so all you have to do is to locate the next chord after the turnaround, and that is your key. I don't know if you would say it is minor. More of a seventh feel. There are a lot of major licks in blues as well. That is a good question...any other thoughts?
2:57 whoops. Not the worst i've ever heard but pretty generic blooze muzak. Sounds like a million of other players doing SRV riffs, via Freddie, BB, Alberts, etc...Not here to troll, just ran across this while watching the same song done PROPER by thee original, Mr. Freddie King!!
believe me, i LOVE john mayer - and i used to say he was the best guitarist we have today. but you all should go check out joe bonamassa. there is no comparing guitar skills.
@SteveFu yea bonamassa has better guitar skills.. but he's waayy tooo showyy offy. I hate that, cause we know they can play, but I don't want them rubbing it in our face. Also I've seen bunch of "Blues Kings" play with John Mayer, but only like one with Joe Bonamassa... I wonder why..
@cheesicles idk man. JB started playing at age 4. could play SRV at 7. and he opened for BB king when he was 12. i know hes also played with clapton ( but who hasnt haha). im sure he's played with legends as well, it's just that for some reason JB is not very well known. its strange
how imature are these responces,, my god its called making it your own... what no one here has ever made a cover in there own style, its tribute and showing who you are..
Who's to say Mayer doesn't have the blues ? Because he's rich and famous ? Probably more of a reason to have the blues. No one else is playing SRV covers and playing with B.B> And Buddy . Mayer's a pimp
Being a fan of traditional blues music I came to watch this expecting something way worse. Sure, It's quite obvious that the guy listened to A LOT of SRV. Now, I'm not a big fan of Stevie but I'd be a fool to try and say that he couldn't feel the blues. I think John's playing is pretty good in this, his tone's alright too.
Don't like his voice that much though... But than again it might just be a hard key for him (Not like I could do much better)
I like Stevie Ray Vaughan a bit before he got really famous, you know, back when he was just "Stevie Vaughan: Jimmy Vaughan's little brother".
I think later in his career he just started straying from the blues path. Not trying to say there's anything wrong with that but it sucks for me because the man can definitely play the blues and I wanted to hear more of it.
If you want to see who really saved the blues though look up Clifford Antone. That man was like... Blues Jesus.
I do agree with you with respect to artist who start out as Blues musicans and later stray completely off course. I see that in Mayer, I see that in Clapton, but I don't think SRV ever took a different path. I can't remember him playing anything other than Texas Blues. Maybe I'm wrong :\
@regelemihai mayer always loved the blues he started out playing all that stuff realized he wouldnt get anywhere in todays generation so he went and did his acoustic stuff which is awesome so he could capture todays youth then bring it back to the blues hes stated that was his plan more then once and a pretty good plan id say i admit i wouldnt be listening to hendrix or bb or stevie if it wasnt for mayer
Yeah, I get that. It's definitely admirable. It's also a good thing that people are getting to know the Blues legends through him.
For me it was opposite though. If it weren't for Stevie Ray Vuaghan, I would've never found out about Mayer. Ok that's pushing it, but truth is that I was an avid SRV fan before I knew Mayer.
has anyone check out i'mtore down played by eric clapton? John Mayer has that lower tone and the other video has the clapton woman guitar cry sound.

This kid is doing a great job! He needs to lead the blues life? You don't have to have led some horrible life to be a bluesman. Everyone has the blues and some people can display it like this young guitar slinger. I laugh so hard at some of the comments the "experts" toss out.

-JM is young

its totally cool john likes the blues and trys to emulate the bluesman, but its starting to piss me off how much he robs stevie ray vaughn and seems to play it like its his own. He needs his own style! it seems to be working anyway, getting him layed and playing to large crowds so screw it i guess thats cool.
doubleddrummer 7 months ago
@doubleddrummer stevie ray vaughan robbed from jimi hendrix as much as john robbed from stevie ray,, does that piss you off too? He has his own style,, his first acoustic album "inside wants out" still blows my mind,, techniques nobody uses (neon) and chords nobody uses...(no such thing) and oh yeah, he likes to play electric guitar sometimes.
Ccbroo 7 months ago
@Ccbroo No dude stevie took from alot of people like everybody else, the difference is that stevie ended up with his own style. John just trys to be like stevie. period. you can copy all you want but you need something unique of your own out of it and capitalize on it like all the greats did. sorry dude.
doubleddrummer 7 months ago
@doubleddrummer I disagree m8. John has created a harmony between pop and blues you d rarely see other guys do. From a guitar player point of view, I see John mainly as an acoustic player, because I know that any song he ever writes first comes on his acoustic before it gets to his electric. He has many innovative fingerpicking styles and chords down that stevie didn't have. Besides, John rarely plays SRV covers,, why? Because he said himself nobody can sound like SRV.
Ccbroo 7 months ago
@Ccbroo I gotta admit i like grooving to some of his pop hits... so you got me there dude. I just think he emulates people too much. even with the other chords he plays and finger pickin stuff. I didn't just mean stevie ray, also albert king which is like in your face on this one. if he could pull off stevie he would do it. But don't get me wrong i am very proud to have someone playing blues and for that i give him a ton of credit. I just get a wierd feeling like its not from him or something.

@Harleydom
Blues is the one musical genre that forgives almost any shortcoming except for sincerity.

i direct cover of claptons version you can so tell he idolises the master that is eric
blainathon 7 months ago
Children... you wouldnt know a REAL bluesman if he hit you over the head with his National Steel guitar. So I rescind the remark about shitting all over himself .

indigopuntaalta 8 months ago
@Harleydom55 The greats fuck up sometimes, my man. BB, Clapton, Buddy Guy- they all cank every once in a blue. Probably more often than you'd think.

RosaParks312353 1 year ago
@RosaParks312353
When it comes to opinions, some are more valid than others & only idiots need to level the playing field. Anybody who thinks a Donny Osmond voice validates the blues is not only delusional, but ignorant when it comes to music.
bondurango 1 year ago
@bondurango You clearly don't understand the concept of opinions. Your opinion is that John Mayer sounds like Donny Osmond. I and half of America clearly disagree. And the last time I checked, there is far more to the blues than a singing voice. Anybody who thinks the blues is made via voice alone and not the skill of the guitarist and emotion behind what they're singing is not only ignorant when it comes to the blues, but has absolutely no say so in anything regarding music.
RosaParks312353 1 year ago
@RosaParks312353
"You clearly don't understand the concept of opinions."
Is that a fact or an opinion? Now, if you're not just stupid, you'd know MY concept doesn't respect all opinions, not because I don't understand but because I don't respect ignorance & if you think "half of America" has an opinion about John Boy that agrees with your own, you're not only delusional, but psychotic, which explains your hypocritical, double standard when it comes to expressing contrary opinions.
bondurango 1 year ago
@bondurango My intial contribution to the conept of opinions was to say that it was your OPINION that John Mayer sounds like Donny Osmond. So clearly I understand YOUR concept of opinions because it's the GENERAL RULE of opinions. Not everyone agrees with anything. I said it was clear that you didn't understand opinions because you said "Anybody who thinks a Donny Osmond voice validates the blues is not only delusional, but ignorant when it comes to music" <OPINION. You contradicted yourself sir
RosaParks312353 1 year ago
@RosaParks312353
"I said it was clear that you didn't understand opinions because you said...<OPINION. You contradicted yourself sir"
Thinking there's logic in saying I don't understand opinions because I have my own opinion proves YOU don't understand opinions or logic. Using the "GENERAL RULE", your opinion that it's a contradiction is not only ignorant but invalid because it's not true.
bondurango 1 year ago
@bondurango I don't even think you know what we're talking about anymore. I said you contradicted yourself because you said I was stupid, ignorant, invalid, delusional, and psychotic because of my OPINION. The GENERAL RULE of opinions is that everyone has their own is it not? I came to you in a very logical manner saying that John Mayer said he didn't like his voice and you come back with "Donny Osmond wannabe" and I'm the ignorant one? Clearly. CLEARLY you have absolutely no live. FACT.
RosaParks312353 1 year ago
@bondurango I said half of America agrees with me is not opinion. It's hyperbole. But clearly not everyone thinks he sounds like Donny Osmond because I believe he's won 7 Grammy's and is highly popular. And furthermore, I don't see how any of this has a damn thing to do with the blues.
RosaParks312353 1 year ago
@RosaParks312353
John Boy need not apply.
bondurango 1 year ago
@bondurango No Donny Osmond is not hyperbole. It's your opinion. Me saying half of America is no longer opinion because I don't know that factually, it's hyperbole because I'm exaggerating. If I had have said you were using hyperbole about John Mayer's voice I'm sure you would have gone into some long, ridiculous discussion about the qualifications of hyperbole. I really truly don't understand what you have against John Mayer and the blues but c'mon, mate. Really? Like... for real?
RosaParks312353 1 year ago
@RosaParks312353 And if you say one more fucking thing to me I am blocking the hell out of you. Don't doubt it. Fuck trying to present my argument in a logical manner. Garage band cover, if this was all I had heard I would never listen to Mayer again.

Let's give him credit where it's due people.

Not to derail the course of the discussion, but why don't you like SRV? :P
He's by far one of the best Blues musicians who ever lived. The Texas Blues as we know it would be in shambles if it weren't for Stevie.

Thanks for the recommandation man :)
I'll look into it right now.
