  • The world misses you, Miki.

  • I've always wondered why you never see any video a surfers crashing into each other. Thanks for posting.

  • watch my video Is John Severson My Father part 1 and part 2 to find out how I learned that I am not only the daughter of Miss Huntington Beach 1959, but that I might be the daughter of one of the biggest names in surf media history, and how he responded to my request for the truth

  • im the best surfer

  • JAJAJJAJAJJAJAJAJAJA

  • The types... arggggg

  • are people really talking about what kind of surfer Tiger Woods would be on here? he'd be a kook...thats what he'd be...

  • @metaZen You base that assertion that " dem folks dey be scared of de water"

How progreeive of you my man.

  • @Cervicconstruction my statement had nothing to do with race... just with the fact that he doesn't have much surfing experience that I know of.. thereby making his skill set lacking causing him to flail about as most kooks do...I'm sure with years of water time he could progress past kookdom as most able bodied dudes can..

  • @metaZen Dude, pardon the reprehensible, ah we are talking about one of the best athaletes to ever come down the pike.Say if you had his cash you think he could find the best place to learn say a point break that was easy to get into yatta yatta. Just saying fuck I don't know who gives a rats ass anyway.I am all f'd up just finished For a Few Perfect Waves about Miki and to my chagrin Giget is playing on TCM right now.Did that lame ass movie relly fiuck up Malibu.Man to be there in 59 my god.

  • I love his style of surfing.

Ireland doesnt have jet skies and the beaches are empty.

Id rather surf like this than modern surfers.

I dont have a film crew lol.

  • Add to the legendary Mickey Dora & the incomparable Phil Edwards .. as noted so well by deweypug below .. the great George Greenough .. as the master innovator & ahead-of-his-day edge of the envelope explorer of defining new board & fin shapes. Later, George deveoped into a master waterman-photographer. I love this whole post .. it has a genuine "Endless Summer 1" feel to it, especially with that wonderful accompanying song "The Last Walk". This was embryonic 'soul surfing' at its best.

  • The Yin and the Yang

Miki Dora and Dora the Explorer

  • The angel of death encompasses DA CAT from every possible angle, by bum rapping, rumor mongering, lying and framing. But DA CAT has a thousand lives and will survive - it won't cave in from these outside pressures. The white angel of death shows its true color when, like Lemmings flooding the waters the three summer months of the year, like the plague exploits, contaminates and curdles the coastline. Thank God for winter - to be able to breathe again and leave behind the stench of summer phonies

  • Miki Dora and Phil Edwards. Nobody will ever match their style.

  • Dora Lives

  • beautiful tune

  • I appreciate his attention to 1939 Nazi style...!

  • It's interesting or maybe not that the clown that keeps dropping in on Dora is Johny Fain. Watching Tiger at his comeback yesterday.Somehow I don't see Tiger as a long board kind of guy. Most likely he would be in search of the biggest bad ass tow in he could find.

  • I disagree, I see Tiger as a point break guy. I could see him surfing Malibu then having a cold beer by the wall. Is Johnny Fain the Phil Mickelson of 60's surfing then?

  • I'm somewhat positive being the driven sort of personality that Tiger has he would surf with a lot of power and class.Nah you couldn't dig up 5 guys under 20 that would know the name Johnny Fain.I think the second banana of the time was Lance"no pants"Carlson who if not for Da Cat would have been the style king remembered most from 60's Malibu.

  • Nice tribute to The Wavemaster. I could have done without the graphics however.

  • grace, style, balance, never showed off, didn't believe in wasted movement, if you don't understand what he's doing you won't realize how good he was on boards that other greats could not ride

  • Hipster saint Miki Dora

  • Hes probably the most notable California surfer in the history. If you had to pick one surfer that epitomized California surfing in the 20th century, it would be Miki Dora.everything that was wrong with it and everything that was right with it-Da Cat-Was the smoothest-We knew to stay out of way & let him have his wave-Malibu was his-When it couldn't be he split.

The Zen Trickster wasn't just This or just That-as a person-He wasn't that easy to put in a box. He sure could surf.

  • Good surfer. Poor human being. Ripping off friends, going to jail. Jerk. But good surfer. So What?

  • he drank way to much !

  • MIKI LOVED NEW ZEALAND

  • does anybody know where i cud get the mp3 file of this please?

  • ...How strange/To be the King/Of Mailibu/Yet/To be/An outcast/Strange in deed/Is the King/Of malibu/All he wanted/Was to surf/And play/While giving homage/To the waves/To freedom/To life...To respect...To Dora: Thanks

  • ..The name fits...Da Cat...Yet we will never really know...Another wave has passed...

  • with the cartoon mentality of today moronic pro surfers,i am glad i was part pf this era ,,all the candy coated pussy,s that are out there today cant even read a tide chart DORA LIVES

  • Hey genius, who do you think was the harbinger of guys to come out here at Malibu and turn it into a toilet? Everything was built on something. All you nostalgists talking about the "good ol days" are a bunch of wankers.

  • You just don't get it....all mouth. Think about yourself and how you don't fit in. You call it a toilet because you don't understand. It's probably your own breath subsamadhi.....FO

  • actually douche, I think I get it better than you ever will. You can't even comprehend what I am talking about so I'll just go ahead and assume you have your head up your ass and are part of the problem as well. Good luck with that.

  • myki te plac molt

  • "The second half of the 20th century would have been different without Dora"- Derek Hynd. If you are a real surfer you'll understand, if not go take up baseball or something.

  • Where is this in Malibu...definately NOT Zuma

  • are you kidding me? of course its not zuma... its surfrider, you know, to the right of the pier. wow.

  • This is awesome. Most people do not realize the bravery and experience these guys have doing this. Really good control. Ride on!I have seen many videos of this sort at splashvision . com.

  • micki dora was a good surfer but defintely an asshole and a snob

  • I guess you don't surf Malibu much!

  • lol!!!

  • Trying to spear people and burning people is being a nice guy? He and Butch were responsible for making Malizoo into a very unfriendly place to surf. He was an amazing longboarder, perhaps the best by some standards. But just because he has his name on the wall, doesn't mean the guy wasn't a jerk. I grew up in PV, and I know what respect is and letting people know when they are wrong. But respect is a two sided coin, and Dora's attitude wasn't even worth a wooden nickel.

  • DORA LIVES!!!! Check out Modern Surf Band Spotlight On Golly Gee Records. 15 modern surf bands performing Supertone hits. I think The Mighty Surf Lords have the best song on there, but then again, I am the guy who performed Moonshot pt.3

  • ..wow, so that's what that name on the wall meant, after all these years I never knew what that was supposed to mean on that album cover.. & I've never heard of Miki Dora b4 now, guess at 61 u can still learn something, even tho i wasn't a surfer in the 60's living in the midwest i loved the music like most of the other teens back then!

  • I surf more than him ! Beleave me !

  • But not better

  • Who doesn't. Mickey died three years ago. We "beleave"

you. But no matter how many years, or times surfing, you'll never be as good as Dora, have as much charisma or reach his level.

  • this is a song writen by rich podolor he worte a lot of instro for the superstocks and lot of other surf and hot rod bands for the 60s and played guitar on the superstocks record like "shut down"and other great tunes for that era....

  • @supertonesurf i tried to find this song ( the last walk) by the supertones on itunes but i couldnt find it so i wonder if that song probably appears under another title?? thanks

  • This is the best song I've heard by the Supertones. Does anyone know if it is their own original or belongs to someone else. Video and music are a nice tandem glide.

  • ..their versions of 'Slip Slidin' & 'Perfidia' are the best i have heard from any other group that's recorded them.. hope they will release another album soon..

  • I don't know...Butchy instead.

  • 'da cat' rules surf heaven!

  • cool!

  • Epic video.
