Those Polish soldiers represent the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland - they're in fact a mimic of the Second Republics uniforms and marching style. They are marching in honor of the fallen soldiers - not as the fallen soldiers.
The only reason Poland participated was because the allies were as well. It would have been very different if Kaczynski were in government as well.

@pkugaoqin What were we surposed to do? During the begining of the Blitzkrieg Germany had captured huge ammounts of Europe including Poland. Poland was occupied before we would even get there, it would have taken time to get to Poland. Either we do what we did and attack Germany from the west and south, or we could have attacked from the north but was risky becaue the north sea and the baltic was pretty much dominated by Germany. Russia were in a better position to liberate Poland.
@pkugaoqin But we all know Poland and Russia never saw eye to eye (still dont really). We along with France decided to attack from the eastern front of France because it is a stronger strategic position, but we underestimated the Blitzkrieg resulting in French defeat and our retreat from Dunkirk. A lot of French and British (including her Empire) soldiers died trying to liberate the occupied territories at the begining of the war, so dont be quick to suggest we didnt try!

I think the major European powers have had enough of killing eachother and so far so good, relations are good between us now and we are very strong allies under the European Union! =)

Those Polish soldiers represent the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland - they're in fact a mimic of the Second Republics uniforms and marching style. They are marching in honor of the fallen soldiers - not as the fallen soldiers.
The only reason Poland participated was because the allies were as well. It would have been very different if Kaczynski were in government as well.

@nrjelley Actually, the Russians were almost unequipped. The German army at the time had the most well armed, well trained military force. The Russians virtually didn't stand a chance; Some Russians even went to battle without weapons, that's how little resources they had. It was FAR from easy for the Russians, considering they came out of a revolution and into a world war.

The declare of war actually gave Polish people hope that someone will save them from Nazi but they didn't. Anyway, if I were Polish I would indeed feel deceived. As you said, Polish people can also surrender just like Romanians did without suffering millions of lives, they are not match of GB/French. United State did much better in keeping their words. I mean by actions not declarations.

@pkugaoqin What were we surposed to do? During the begining of the Blitzkrieg Germany had captured huge ammounts of Europe including Poland. Poland was occupied before we would even get there, it would have taken time to get to Poland. Either we do what we did and attack Germany from the west and south, or we could have attacked from the north but was risky becaue the north sea and the baltic was pretty much dominated by Germany. Russia were in a better position to liberate Poland.

We along with France decided to attack from the eastern front of France because it is a stronger strategic position, but we underestimated the Blitzkrieg resulting in French defeat and our retreat from Dunkirk. A lot of French and British (including her Empire) soldiers died trying to liberate the occupied territories at the begining of the war, so dont be quick to suggest we didnt try!

@pkugaoqin Well, to be honest, Communist Russia wasn't much different from Nazi Germany in many ways, so playing both nations against eachother would have been ideal for GB, France etc. It is well documented Churchill had a dislike for Russia at the time, but an alliance was essential for both GB and Russia. I think the major European powers have had enough of killing eachother and so far so good, relations are good between us now and we are very strong allies under the European Union! =)

The Nazis completely shelled Warsaw to ruin and then went door to door with flamethrowers and machine guns, slaughtering those who had survived. While all this was going on the Red Army was on the outskirts of Warsaw, but didnt come to help the Poles because Stalin ordered them to do nothing!

Stalin knew USSR was not in any good position to push back nazi and free poland. We barely repelled them from stalingrad, what could have we done better with warsaw? besides, if we did intervened, you would only have blamed us for murder of people.
