@jamesfuss No sorry. Graphics are on board, however the Intel HD 3000 is much better than previous graphics cards. Not as good as NVidia Optimus though, and not suitable for most advanced gaming.
@jamesfuss i read somewhere saying that the graphics card is either the same one that is in the macbook pro or it is the same thing. and i have a macbook pro and its very smooth so it should be good on this tablet
@ulangi Yes, Intel chips will always be able to run Windows. There is talk of ARM chips also getting a version of Windows 8, however its functionality would be reduced.
Use this as an easy guide: If it runs Windows 7 now it will run a full version of Windows 8.
i am a freshman and want a good tablet for taking notes and other such applications. I already have a windows 7 laptop at home. should i get a this or and iPad 2. i know this tablet a superioir tablet but all i want is notes and educational tools.
Btw, if you could do a video showcasing drawing apps like photoshop & autodesk sketchbook that would be amazing, also, some light gaming to test the intel hd3000.
@ffsource Thanks ffsource. I do get asked a lot, so I might have a go at that. I'm not a Photoshop or Sketchbook user, so I'm not sure I could show off enough functionality for you...
@oztabletpc I'm mostly interested in the pressure levels / tilt angles of the wacom pen (I'm no Picasso myself but I'd like to see how the pen perform on those programs), and for games maybe some Age of Empires II or RTS games with the pen and some light shooters like L4D2, CoD4 with the included keyboard and some random mouse.
@ffsource Wacom Penabled (as seen on Tablet PCs) is 256 levels of pressure and there is no tilt unfortunately. It's no Cintiq! Still a million times better than a capacitive stylus! ;-)
Intel HD3000 is still no fun for gaming although it is a whole lot better than the old HD series. I play Empire Earth II on it and it is just passable, and the graphics aren't exaclty pretty. On my Fujitsu T901 tablet with NVidia gaming is fine, so Intel HD 3000 is still no substitute.
@alphaeeg It's the same software (windows 7 tablet handwriting recognition) and the same pen (Wacom penabled) but the Samsung has a softer tip on the pen so it does feel a little nicer. Both are awesome though...
I know that you have a lot of experience in tablets. I was wondering what tablet you would suggest for the college student. I am looking for a tablet that I can take notes with, and is also fast, relatively powerful, and that doesn't have lag while handwriting. I would love to hear from you!

@oztabletpc hi there, is this slate upgradeable to windows 8 later? Will they use the same hardware architecture?

Im thinking of getting one of these for school and sell my macbook pro. This would be perfect for taking notes (one note).

@a199719971997 iPad does not have an active digitizer pen. So notetaking on iPad is very poor, compared with fast and precise on S7S.

I'm really considering buying one of these.
