  • how long does a tankfull last?

  • Cool Beans! Finally I found a use for the down shaft engine I have .. LOL

That's just the ticket to run some of my Prospecting Stuff.

  • could you use that to jump start a car when the battery dies?

  • well done thats a great camera

  • cool ideal.how much it cost you to build that? -MrFixit

  • now just put wheels and a handle on it and ur ready to go!

  • thats an awesome package im drawing plans now to build one to run off of a gasifier

  • a always get confused... what kind of alternator is best for this kind of project? explain it to me like I'm a little kid... well, not exactly a little kid, but you get what i mean. cause I want to do this and there are a lot of different kinds of alternators (some don't even kick "on" until you hit a certain rpm and i don't want that problem)

  • Only health and safety issue that I can see in your ownmade charger is the extension(Deflector) on the exhaust. It is illegal to use copper in an exhaust system. There is serious health issues from breathing in the exhaust gasses from a copper pipe, far more serious that from a steal exhaust, otherwise a nice bit of kit. many thanks Mick.

  • This is beautiful , I enjoyed watching it. thanks

  • wat kind motor you use for the genarator for the power to come out of??

  • O I see its a push mower engine with the gas tank built in.I was looking for a separate gas tank.

  • Its beautiful! Were is the gas tank?

  • you are a genius

  • you are a genuis

  • why?

  • what it needs is a flywheel

  • Also, DO NOT disconnect the governor as suggested by another poster!! The governor (assuming its working right) is your friend when the generator is powering some load (i.e drained battery and/or inverter running stuff), and espescially if the load changes (i.e increases or decreases). It will also protect the engine if there is a sudden load disconnect, and you're not near it. Check my videos to see the one I built.

  • Yeah! Nice, clean and simple. Have you done a load test to see how much useabe power it can make before the engine bogs down? I'd like to see a video of that!! Should be able to make up to 2.5Kw.

  • how do you wire it

the three wire is confusing what type of reostat

  • you definitely want to remove the governor mechanism to get a more stable voltage! nice work tho

  • Sounds to me like you need a resistor or a rheostat to adjust the resistance from the alternator to the battery.

  • @Jaimoore12 potentiometer would be better for the 3 way

  • How do i get 12 volts to my alternator? Because, my alternator make 60 volts, and i can,t use any invertor, and the batery is 12 volts to. Can you tell me please?

  • Very nice clean fabrication. I guess the ultimate goal is to find the smallest engine that will still turn the alternator. What size is the alternator?

  • It's better to use chain, i think... But it's steel great thing.

  • @SashNone why is chain better? It seems that it would be more difficult to adjust and replace!

  • @Jaimoore12 plus the damn noise that would make!! Chains stretch and wear out faster than belts do.

  • And a designer white dial Ammeter aswell, nice simple generator, so no problems starting your car when the battery is dead in Wintertime!

  • nice package, that has been around as long as the Delco Alt. 60 to 100 amp is a good charge though. Did you fab. or buy the bracket?

  • I fabricated it in the garage!

  • @Jaimoore12 Can you tell me how long does it take to charge up the batterie
