to mnpd007 below i'd not like to tell you that keith relf died on stage on 1975 while playing with his sisters group rennaissance He accidently didnt earth his guitar and stepped onto a pipe ,made a circuit. And the great man electrocuted himself
this is got to be my will one of my all time favorite YardBirds songs. i dont remember what year it was when it came out but i was a teenager then. and now im going to retire in 17 days. its all over now.
I didn't know the two surviving members of the Yardbirds got back together! I don't know who the kid is on lead vocals, but sounds just like Keith Relf. Dreja and McCarty did some searching to find him.
@mnpd007 ....TWO surviving members?.....umm, maybe you forgot the most important three?...ever heard of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck or Jimmy Page?....survived and STILL thriving I might add
@AvirtualSwitzerland YOU ARE who forgot who is the most important, the most important was Keith Relf, he was the frontman of the yardbirds in the sixties
The Yardbirds with original members Chris Dreja & Jim McCarty will be on US tour in 2010; May 21 Robert Parilla PAC Montgomery College Rockville MD; May 22 Chesapeake Blues festival Annapolis MD; May 23 Tangiers Akron OH; May 25 Sellersville Theatre Sellersville PA; May 26 BB Kings New York NY; May 27 YMCA Boulton Center Bayshore NY; May 28 Showcase Live Foxbourgh MA; May 30 Remember the Music Remember The Heroes Festival Virgina Beach VA.
I got my audio cd from a collector in Australia. Mines not from a video. It's from an audience mic source. Would love to have a vcd copy of what you filmed. I would gladly set up a trade with you
Sorry, I don't do trades. After sharing some videos I shot, my several were traded and posted as their own work on other web sites. Thus, I only share now via youtube.
Hey I was at this show! I miss my Gypie that's fer shur but Billy is WAYYY more proper than their first harp guy (um not keith of course!) John Idan was such a surprise, who'da thunk the Y-Birds would have come out swinging like they did? Anybody know if Billy Boy can sing lead??? Saw them twice, will truly miss Detroit John...
The previous harp player before Billy Boy Miskimin was Alan Glenn. Presently, Billy Boy and John Idan have been replaced by youngsters who are still learning their craft.
I was just telling a little Keith Relf fact to that person who commented John Idan is like Keith Relf but John plays guitar. I just threw in the fact Keith was a guitar player but for one song and with two other bands. Thats all.
Well, Keith Relf was a guitar player. He played acustic guitar on a song called Hushabye. You can find it on youtube. but to tell you the truth, its not a official Yardbird song. They had to play a quick song for a radio spot. Keith knew that song and performed it with Jim McCarty on drums. He also played guitar in two bands he formed after Yardbirds.
Really good music from the New Ybirds! I love to see Chris Dreja & Jim Mccarty there. I also dig John Idan! Will they be ever coming back to Italy for a tour?
Thanks for the comments. John Idan will be leaving the group the end of Dec 08 to devote more time to his solo career. He will be a tough talent to replace. Jim and Chris remain steadfast cornerstones. Younger members Billy on harp and backing vocals and guitar wizard Ben King provide talent that rivals the original band.
All hail your dad then....that guy sounds like the ghost of Keith Relf, only this one plays a guitar! Much thanks to him for helping to get this great group back on the road. He's going to be hard to replace, but I wish him all the luck and success in world on his solo career.
Thanks for viewing. Some screaming fool next to me screwed up the audio in many of my videos that night. I would have choked her, but didn't want to put down the camera.

It was a guitar(or more correctly the amp) that killed him.

Saw them at the Abbey Pub in Chicago...Idan was fantastic! Tons of energy, looks like a healthy Jeff Beck. The New Yardbirds rule!
