as an historian who researched this event as an undergraduate, one wonders how these German people felt upon seeing this horror through the eyes of the British, American and Soviet soldiers who liberated the camps? We are all guilty in some fashion of 'crimes against humanity' but this.... this was unconscionable. How could they bear it? The world has never been the same since the violence of the late 19th and 20th centuries. It started in the west- with the decimation of the native Americans..

I think perhaps I was considering more the smell and sights that some knew, but you are correct. I've never blamed the Germans - and I have some great German friends. To be honest, if I blame anyone, I would blame the bankers who made money on both sides.

If you actually look at the history of the holocaust, you realize that most of the sotries told are lies, even the 6 million number was created by a jewish film director, the real body count was about 1 million. Also, it is recorded by the governments of Germany, the nations, and the puppet governments and and jewish synegogues of the time of how many jews were in the countries invaded by Nazi Germany. Also, It was the Russians who captured most of the death camps, Treblinka, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Dachau, etc. Canadians freed almst all of Belgium and Netherlands, French freed Paris, British and canadians had 3 beaches on Normandy. People hate what their ancestors did and even though they had NOTHING do with what happend it's still a dark cloud in their family history. I am a black female and my great great great whatever great grandfather was a slave owner. @87alsjth Well I am African American and my grandfather was a slave owner. It's not like it's an uncommon thing for African Americans to have this but it's like "uh..." hahaha! They got in by coalition, then it was too late for them to do anything because Hitler enacted the enabling laws to do away with the Reichstag, and as such the German peoples free will. You should also keep in mind America was indeed racist and anti-semitist right up until the 1960s. You should also know that Henry Ford was a rabid anti-semitist.
