I don't even remember getting into the ER because I passed out on the way there and apparently my BP had completely bottomed out and I was near death soon after I arrived.

Oh yeah and one more point......if the doctors in the ER had waited until my blood tests showed that I had a high WBC before they intubated me and started giving me antibiotic, I WOULD be dead today. My WBC did not come back abnormal until I had been in a medically induced coma for three days. I can absolutely guarantee you that I was THAT SICK for a week and I somehow managed to even WALK to the ambulance because they didn't want to risk hurting their backs.

*crw11688 Uhh, don't try to tell me what medical conditions I had and haven't had. It was a burst appendix. It took them 10 days to identify it, which they finally did through a CT scan. My life was saved because it happened to self-contain itself (scab?) but if they had waited too long indeed I would have become septic and died. They inserted a drain and three months later removed the remaining shell. It was definitely a wacky situation, but it happened, sorry to fuck up your worldview.

@crw11688 You obviously have never had a burst appendix. The pressure goes away once it ruptures (which I can see would make it hard to diagnose), but there still is a LOT of pain. I couldn't unfold myself from the fetal position for several hours. Plus for whatever reason (maybe because it walled off?) my white blood cell count was normal and I had no fever. I SEEMED normal.

It's weird but sometimes there ARE unusual cases and you need to dig a little deeper before writing people off as crazy.

I had a friend who had this exact same thing happen. Her appendix had burst and the ER doctors (three visits in a week) did multiple test and an MRI. Finally on her 4th visit they decided to do exploratory surgery where they discovered her appendix had burst at least 6 months prior. The infection was walled off in her abdomen. She considers it nothing short of a miracle that she survived. She worked full time and had good insurance. I don't know if this incident was documented in Oklahoma.

Yes I was truly septic. I was in ICU for a month on a ventilator and in the hospital for two months. The reason I was turned away was because my WBC count was coming back normal. But my BP was 70/40 the, I was hyperventilating, rigors, high fever, vomiting, and couldn't sit up. I had a lot of pain in my chest because the infection moved to my lungs and I had a compressed lung and could hardly breathe anymore. I'm truly a walking miracle and every doctor who saw me told me that.
