  • RESPECT.....GURUDEV

  • Nobel Laureate, philosopher, writer, poet, patriot and visionary Rabindranath Tagore would have been proud to see his India more vibrant than ever at 64.

    JAI HIND

  • This definately isn't Gurudevs voice. Why do I say so? Listen to the song intendly. Focus on the accent. Not in one word, is there a touch of bengali! U can always distinctly tell a begali from the others, just within a minute of conversation.

  • Vande Mataram... Vande Mataram...

Not Jana Gana bla bla bla!

  • gandhi and tagore. two of the giants of modern india together.

  • This is great! I made an arrangement of Jana Gana Mana for my jazz quartet which we played on tour in India recently. Just search for "Jana Gana Mana" performed by The Charlie Porter Quartet.

  • IT IS TAGORE'S VOICE INDEED! I HAVE THE ORIGINAL GRAMOPHONE RECORD IN MY COLLECTION. IT IS OBVIOUSLY TAGORE'S OWN VOICE.

  • brothers..does it matter..its out national anthem...it brings pride in us whenever we hear it. Its shows us how determination and truth can prevail in the end. My tribute and hearty respect goes to not only TAGORE but to any Indian who has of will do anything for the betterment of our motherland!

It doesnt matter the accent or languare..what matters is It is INDIAN

  • If that's really Rabindranath Tagore, why's he singing Jana Gana Mana with a Hindi accent? The original Bengali lyrics to the song were 'Jono gono mono odhinoeko joeyo he'.

  • @thephilosopherkartik

As I had stated previously in one of the comments, it IS Tagore's audio, as per the audio released by Bharatbala productions' Jana Gana Mana album.

I have not much interest in literature, so I can't actively involve in a discussion with you. But I do know how great a literate Rabindranath Tagore was/is/ever will be & thats why I spread this audio, believing that it is Tagore's voice

& I am very happy to see numerous people being very happy on hearing it, thanks to India.

  • @thephilosopherkartik

Also if you could prove that it is not Tagore's voice, it would be really enlightening and millions of Indians would actually be thankful to you for bringing this into light. :)

  • @harisachin Are you sure that the singer is actually using a Hindi accent? I don't think so.

  • @harisachin I didn't say that this isn't Rabindranath Tagore's voice, I only pointed out that he's singing it with a Hindi accent. The original lyrics of Jana Gana Mana were in Sadhubhasha (Sanskritized) Bengali and sounded like 'Jono gono mono odhinoeko joeo he bharot bhaggo beedhata' (see the Wikipedia article on Jana Gana Mana). The pronunciation was later adapted to a Hindi accent when the song was made the national anthem. It could just as well be Tagore singing his own Hindi-ized version!

  • @thephilosopherkartik

hey I am not blaming you or anything of that sorts. But seriously the facts you laid down here might be an interesting topic for an active discussion!

Maybe Bharatbala productions can come out with how they got this audio and details of this recording (when, where...).

Though Bharatbala has a website I previously posted some query which is yet to be answered. So am skeptical about posting another query there!

  • @thephilosopherkartik to ur query.. he is singing in sanskrit.. not bangla..

  • @thephilosopherkartik @harisachin Are you sure that the singer is actually using a Hindi accent? I don't think so.

  • @thephilosopherkartik You are wrong. It is not a hindi accent of Tagore. It is a pure Bengali accent. Also I heard this Audio many times at other places and Tagore's other Audio collections. All belong to the same voice and to Tagore's. I am surprised that you call it a hindi accent!!!

  • @thephilosopherkartik it is tagore's voice indeed......no scepticism about that....

  • @thephilosopherkartik Actually Tagore often pronounced the Sanskrit loan words (Tatsama) with "a" ending and not "o". Refer to other songs like "mama jaubananikunje gaahe pakhi" (not sung mamo joubano...); also in his own voice "andhajane deho alo" (not andhojone).

    Regards,

    Kumaraditya Sarkar.

  • @Kumaraditya2210 You pretty much answered my question. Thank you!

  • @thephilosopherkartik you stupid

  • Tagore is the world's greatest playwright and author. Tagore's plays, novels, short stories, poems, songs, fairy tales, essays, letters, paintings, work on the philosophy of science, work on the philosophy of education, social reform work, educational work, translations and political work combine to show him to be one of the world's greatest human beings and geniuses.

  • I get choked and it gives me the goosebumps. My mother's family was VERY close to Gurudev.

  • Tagore never claimed that he is a Nationalist poet or his work is dedicated to freedom of India, he is a poet and literary personality who potrayed the lifes and stories of people in Indian society in that era through his works and a vison of humanity and neither was any need of writing a poem on Netaji because in those days ppl like Netaji didn't required any promotional songs like our current leaders he was in himself very famous

  • Now about your critisism...In the British era all the British did was not all negatives they improved our education system/abo;ished many bad rituals like sati etc...so there ppl in Indian society in that time who were close to britishers because they were reformists and educationists that dosen't means they were traitors...OK so that you implant in your brain in a fixed location so that this fact is not lost

  • to Mr Devanbhatt1 and his little knowledge and big talks...first of all you need to shut your mouth and do some basic research before saying anything atleast about stalwarts even about Nehru/Gandhi/Netaji/Tagore/Patel any one because they are great personalities.

  • I am blown away ...didnt know this clip existed in Tagore's own voice. Thank you for sharing

  • Thank you for such a rare audio! thanks a lot!

  • I thought this song was made to present Queen Elizabeth as ruler of India... need to check the facts...beautiful creation but not really meant to be national anthum..

  • Elizabeth was not sworn till the 1950s. Tagore died in 1941. This song was written when George the 5th was visiting India in December 1911.. . In 1937 he wrote about this to his friend Pulin Behari Sen and mentioned that it was addressed to God and the "dispenser of India's destiny" and not George the 5th or any other George. The 4th verse, not often sung, refers to "tumi mata" which refers to a female "Bharata Bhagya Bidhata" which the King certainly wasn't. I hope this helps.

  • Thank you for the inside..I still don't like it..because theses are the people who sold their Bhagya Vidhata..to every forign invaders..I hope I am not offending anybody.

  • No worries. Peace.

  • just shut up you ass hole.......and please don't make any such foolish claims ever again..!!

  • elizabeth was not even the queen during tagore's life time. get ur facts straight.

  • well I thought I mentioned that I needed to check the facts..and you are right that she was not the queen at the time till it dosen't change the fact that Bhagatsing was sacrifice by the same Gandhi- Tagore-Nehru gangs..Tagore did not write about their blood washing the BHAGYA VIDHATA..

  • Gandhi and nehru gang did not involve tagore in it and bhagat singh was not the only freedom fighter. u should stop that infatuation with bhagat singh. there were freedom fighters who gave their blood for the independence against british before and after bhagat singh. heard of Titumir?the biggest freedom fighter leader was Netaji who was the only leader to bring hindu, muslim, sikh, bengalis, punjabis everyone under one army.

  • you are right Netaji s one hack of a leader and so is Titumir..and is not the infatuation with Bhagatsing alone I feel same for everyone who gave their lives including Natthuram Godse well the point is all this polish people never involve themselves in to all this sacrificing people or never wrote good thing for them..if Tagore was great why did not he wrote poem for Netaji or Titumir and made them famous too.. I am just giving my views I am sorry if I said something to offend people..

  • i am not offended, was just making a point. and you are right. Tagore was not infallible. His close acquaintance with the British rulers was a sore point of criticism and also his lack quantity of literature on freedom movement was subject of criticism. His active opposition to the partition of Bengal came from a narrow minded perspective that wasn't expected from a man like him. But then he was a human being. I still don't put him in the same league as the shrewd Nehru.

  • I don't get your point. Call me up for a chat. Will get your history right mate.

  • You are right tagore was not infalliable. If he had the shrewedness of Nehru inbuilt in him he would have left a legacy where Gandhi would not have been able to agree to the partition of India, rather it would have not been necessary. In another India shaped With Netagi Subash chandra Boses wisdom and ideals Indias National anthem would have been more glorified. Still Tagore remains the greatest poet of the subcontinent.

  • of course you are not offending anyone. Just asking - you cousin of Godse or a marathi? or a cousin of herewith?

  • Please do not blame all marathi people in the name of Godse who was an idiot.

  • nice covering of anthem

  • Very Proud of my country its history, heritage, sacrifice & acceptance of all faiths & religons, with no bias towards any. How on earth is my motherland where it is with all the threats from its neighbours, fanatics, who want to just de-stablize Hindustan Today!!

  • beautiful i love it

  • ha ha nice try man. better luck next time.

wen u like somethin, enjoy it. why do u feel jealous of other's enjoyment?

i like the song, i made a vdo. ppl who like it appreciate the song too. if u don like it, u can very well start an active arguement but u neednt show the world that u r a filthy pervert by posting such comments that affects other people's sentiments.

Learn to live and let live.

  • (If u want to just ignite hatred amongst different communities/countries, that shows how cheap unfit human u r to live. We, proud Indians, have better job to do than to consider ur comments even as the hissing of mosquitoes)

  • Doesn't matter. If it isn't your cup of tea, don't listen to it. There are other recordings of this song that might be better suited to your taste. :)

  • If it is too slow please do not listen to it

  • it is a song, a poem, not a geography textbook... and depends when to list the states, post Jharkhand Uttarakhand Chattisgarh, or we wait till Gorkhaland, Vidharbha, Telengana, East & West UP..

  • There was in Tagore a deeply nationalistic, yet a liberal large hearted spirit. In this song he is being inclusive, and it is his greatness as a poet, that he is able to make a list sound so beautiful. The object was to unite the nation through poetry, and still have literary merit.

Bickering about this, our National Anthem, is not only disrespectful of the song, but also of the nation, in a way.

One should remember that heroes are human, but criticize them for real flaws, not imagined ones.

  • This motherland (India) has begotten sons who have earned reputation in continents far and wide.

This valorous land has produced warriors who

earned freedom for the land by driving away the foreigners.

This divine land had shown excellence

in the fields of music and literature.

    It is entirely our responsibility

to uphold the righteousnessof the land having been born in that land which is varied with its finenessof art and architecture.
