  • Awesome voice. 5*****. Scotty (Iowa USA)

  • I can't see this song being interpretated by anybody else but Mireille. Really. She puts her heart and soul in this song and it's ever so beautiful... I'm not French, far from that, I was born and raised in Brazil but I have such a patriotism with France and I can get touched by this song. Mireille Mathieu is simply brilliant.

And plus, her hair looks more beautiful than ever. Just saying.

  • LA CLASSE ET LE TALENT....QUELLE INTERPRETATION.......MERCI

  • Ausdrucksstarke Interpretation.

    Wahnsinns Lied.

    Ich liebe Mimi.

    Danke Mimi.

  • How can denny and hate such a singer with such majestic interpretation like this...and how many others magnific songs she has! What an adorable vocal tehnic she worked for such performances(need to know something about what means the work in vocal interpretation for to apreciate her musical personality)In many ways i feel the verses of here about Joan of Arc ,that are very suitables with her own destin in music history...

  • @emidream And I do suspect this song was written for Mimi and inspired by her personal life. Have not seen anyone else sing this song..

  • @kimbo99 Who anyone else to sing this song???Only her has force, nerve and great vivacity for such a monumental interpretation. She evidences the revolt through some very personal elements of musical interpretation(I can't to translate this thing into english).I think that is only a coincidence with her actual situation. When she performed this song ,was the same situation?

  • @emidream: It is the duty of people like you to make certain that Mireille is never ever forgotten.

  • Mimi IS Joan of Arc reborn.............. Her hairstyle same as Joan of Arc>>>>her strong love for her country very evident in this song same as Joan of Arc ..........she is a national and international treasure>>>>>>> VIVE MIREILLE..................

  • hey what's her age here ?

  • Early forties I suspect.

Isn't she simply terrific, and so beautiful?

  • yes yes yes

she is even more than terrific

    :)

  • @mire7o91 And the number of viwers is more than "terrific"!...seems that they really forgot her(frenches)This is an emblematic song a la Mireille!Who hell influnced so much the perception about her??!!!But why to be surprised? This is the destin of many great persons ,as Joan of Arc for instance! They end being unrecognized by majority.

  • @emidream @emidream and maybe the half of these views are mine hahaha because i played that song maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany times

well ppl say noone is a prophet in his own country but i can't completely agree with that or with the fact that only old ppl are her fans now

  • @mire7o91 these are quite stupid excuses because they can't value this what they have maybe is a mentality i don't know but i think that legends never become old

and i can't accept the statement that this is the natural happening of the things - today u are on all coverages of magazines and tomorrow u are already forgotten

  • @mire7o91 i can give an example with our main singer who is 73 and who still makes the biggest concerts attended even by ppl my age, we just know what to value and how to do it...this makes me feel sry about mm but i think as well that she has many fans in foreign countries like germany!

  • @mire7o91 this is the problem for what i am so ANGRY,they influnced the young generation!i saw in a video children that make fun about her in a a street manifestation (politic aspect) Great names of music in my country...all together have not her fantastic musical activity, yes she gave their her liberty, her life !And all french singers together have not her force, nerve and vivacity!(like ideea, lol)

  • @emidream make fun about who ? mireille or ???

  • @mire7o91when you use her musical signature for make fun about a politician for instance, indirectlly there is an insult at her adress. However they make conexions between the both parts,so?!If the president wants somebody to sing for him, doesn't matter if he is good or bad.(in fact are just politic options and opinions)However art has the purpose to bring harmony between ppl,art is for everybody even for worst ppl like ideea!!!!!Or just more for them!("love your enemy" as Bible said)

  • @emidream yeahh i see

well i think that politics and art should be separated and i am against this singing on different political campaigns because this makes the ppl mixed up

art and politics are two so different things, which can't be put together

... about this happening with mireille i think that ppl try to make themselves rebels but they just choose the most pathetic way to do it... i am sure that they looked like idiots at least for the world outside...nothign more

  • @mire7o91 and about the snobism - it destroys the person from inside

so i am finding these ppl more like uncapable of creativity creatures, scared of the fast development of the world around, because they know that they lack of knowledge and flexibility in order to be modern persons and to go along with the tempo of the world around them...like lowlife mean-souls, empty from inside ...

  • @mire7o91 or maybe just in their will and striving of being smth exceptional maybe, they are turning themselves into that, regarding it like 'noblesse'

...but you know the self- delusion is the biggest enemy of the person...

  • @mire7o91you think very well ,but be sure that they have others perceptions and when is about bad influences in group, this is the worst thing. And it is so evident in how much viewers she has today on yt.I continue to be perplex about what is happend, for me is a GREAT ERROR in french music history! She CERTAINLY IS ONE OF THE BEST SINGER IN POP-MUSIC HISTORY!

  • @emidream i think that there is smth else as well

i think she made a great mistake by not choosing another manager

i read that she had many proposals after the death of Jonny but she used to refuse always ( i understand her somehow) but i think that this was essential for her career in the future, i think that she would profit more if she accepted one of these proposals ...

  • @mire7o91very agree with what you said. She choised like impressario one of her sister. She is very attached of her family. And even this thing made a bad impression for some ppl.

  • @mire7o91after nr of viewers and not only about this aspect, old ppl are more funs Piaf!!! or Brel (a great and very sensible composer and poet, but not a real singer)I know even fans Metallica very moved of her remake "ne me quitte pas"(Brel composition),but they prefer Brel talking vocals, not her temperamental SUNG version and very sensible too.Maybe they are really impotents!haha...OMG how many stupid "elites" and snobs!

  • 40

    i checked :P

  • ...hm at 19 years old Joanne d'Arc lost her life...at 19 years old Mireille won a competition. She demonstrated a special talent. After 19 years she recived this song ...in a perfect acord with her voice and unic vocal force in french music..Her first album...hm...Mon credo!!!

  • Well, yes, that one is hard to squeeze out of "du fond du temps." But, to paraphrase what I said below, if you subtitle the video, you get to translate it! (And no one gets it right *all* the time.)

  • Its 4hrs hard work to subtitle a song.I've had United Nations people quibble about meaning of a syllable and argue for 3 weeks, here.Without ever supplying a better translation. Nit pickers take things way too seriously. Critics can supply their own video version with "their" perfection in the subs. But none ever have.

  • Steve: I think I speak for the overwhelming majority of your videos' audience when I say that I greatly admire your generosity in investing so much time and effort to make them available to us . . . at a very attractive price!

  • The thing about is ; french is only one language among other billions of speakers of other languages. In nordic european countries they do not listen songs in their languages so much. The most threatened & endangered languages from English are all celtic, Irish gaelic, Scottish gaelic, Welsh. Cornish became extinct, they are trying to revive it.

English will not replace languages with big population. Breton, Gascon, Alsatian & others are severely threatened from French, as well

  • Extinction of languages seems natural like the extinction of animals. Reviving dead languages doesn't seem to have any wide appeal.Thousands of small languages have vanished. Many civilisations have vanished without a trace. The natural process contnues.

  • I adore Mireille's voice. Just love it. If the languages that are real in danger does not matter for some nationalists. Then their claim about french language, being in danger is illegit. This song was done for only for " superior " french nationalistic ego that really does not care about others, but their language's lost prestige. Nothing more!!! Sadly!

  • Translation is an art, not a science; one can always quibble about the proper meaning of an expression from one language rendered in another. My own rendering of "du fond du temps" would be "from the depths of time." That strikes me as closer to both the sense and the literal meaning of the original. Similarly, I would translate "demoiselle" as "maid." But these really are quibbles; Kimbo99 went to the trouble of sub-titling the video; he gets to decide what the words mean in English!

  • du fond du temps

    also possible

  • Du fond des temps je vous entends.

From the remote past I hear you.

    (mistake above)

  • Never forget there's evil anglos lurking everywhere. Yet oddly french visitors to this Mimi Street are outnumbered by Anglos 50 to 1.

  • LINDAAAAAAAAAAAAA! J'AIME MIREIILE

  • The words were corrected at the insistence of a raving ardent French nationlalist from Quebec Liberation Inc. This song is so easy to misunderstand as it mixes two characters together Mimi playing Joan and then being the new voice of france herself in the song to oppose the English displacing French. Obviously she inspired the song. It is a very rich complex delicious mix.

  • A great romanian writer said"The worst thing that you can do to somebody ,is TO FORGET HIM !"Sometimes I feel that is the same thing with MIREILLE and her....

I'd like to be wrong...but this is the life: IGNORANCE AND INGRATITUDINE, so you can explain a lot of bad things in your life.

  • One of the best song of Mireille!

With this song and many others of course, you can make the diference between her and Piaf. She is a Grand vocalist, who performed difficult songs and different styles of music!

  • OH!
