@randyypan a single super bright LED was installed in an aluminum enclosure right behind the platter. Hard to see it in the pic. Since the platter is translucent acrylic the effect is very nice. The more recent version of this turntable has a steel platter so adding a LED is no longer viable.
Geez people...Can you now see why people like us won't just settle for clicking a mouse and downloading a song? This set up is beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, i have a Vpi Scout and would love to add the blue light.Did you mount it into that small box that is sitting just behind the platter on the table itself....LOOKS COOL.
Hoy 19 de septiembre es el cumpleaños del maestro Vytas Brenner qepd, pongamos en su honor la musica que el creó con ritmos venezolanos y sonidos futuristas.......Que la Fuerza te acompañe¡¡¡¡¡¡
I'm so jealous of your jazz set up i know you enjoy it alot, and what a nice turntable wish i could afford something like that by the way how much did it cost you?
Thank you. Because of the summer heat, I haven't been able to enjoy it that often. But hopefully that will change very soon! The turntable cost me $1800 plus $800 for the Dynavector cartridge. Not including the maple wood base, the acrylic dust cover and other accessories.
As far as I know, there haven't been any reissues on vinyl. Only on CD. The 1999 CD remaster sounds good but inferior to the original vinyl. I'm guessing they didn't use the original master tapes. A shame.
Extremely beautiful & comfortable sound. And this incredibly beautiful blue light of the turntable. I read its LED. I want to know you made this LED system by yourself or bought it from some shop as an option or some? Sorry for bothering you. Anyway excellent video!
I made it myself. It's a regular blue high intensity LED installed in a brushed aluminum black project box. The LED is powered by a DC adapter that goes on at the same time the turntable motor is powered. Thanks for the kind comments regarding my video!
Thank you for your information. Now I'm seeking an analog player, and I think this VPI Aries Scout is one of the best players I can get in my country. I'm lucky I could find this video!
Yes, the VPI Aries Scout is excellent. New version does not have a translucent acrylic platter, however. It is now cast metal. The LED won't shine through it. So to let you know...
Omg, thank you for your further information immediately, I'm so surprised!
I don't buy new version, of course, maybe I can get an original one in Japan. Our country's importer is Esoteric, I found in their web site. Thanks a lot, Mr.crooner2007. You are so kind.
The original LP was titled "La Ofrenda De Vytas". Which translates roughly to "The Offering of Vytas" so that's right. His working band was soon named "Ofrenda" as well.
The 1999 CD reissue changed the title slightly to "La Ofrenda De Vytas Brenner". In both issues the song order is wrong unfortunately.
The band is from Venezuela. Vytas was German but raised in Venezuela. The band is no longer together. Mr. Brenner passed away in 2004. Check eBay for used albums. The CDs from 1999 can still be found.
Cheers Crooner, use a Dynavector myself on an Audio Origami modded Rega RB300,looking at decks myself at the mo',torn between the VPI and the Michell Gyro SE.
Both are great tables, and have their strong defenders. The VPI is controversial because of the unipivot and lack of a standard antiskating mechanism. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but once properly setup it performs superbly!. Good luck and let me know what you ended up getting!
It's the basic Scout yes. The cart is a medium output Benz Micro Glider. I believe VPI recommends Dynavectors, but the Glider does match very well with it.
Right now, I'm due for a retip. Given the generous exchange discount given by Benz, I think I'll stick with the brand for my next cartridge!
MAN ,NICE TABLE ,but why do these high end TT manufacuers use belt drive systems?Direct drive is more accurate, and a person who works in a studio told me the same thing.Belt drives color the sound and direct drives tend to give a more accurate sound of the master.Everybody has their opinions.Nice setup
The tooling for direct drive is much more expensive and the Japanese companies had the cash in the 1970s for R&D.
Smaller American companies today don't have these resources.
I agree that Direct Drive done right is excellent. Idler drive such as in the Thorens TD-124 and Garrard 301 can rival belt and direct drive in performance.
Thanks,Crooner2007 for this video. It is a treat. By the way, do you have music by a Caracas'group called Speranto. Its music was similar to Vytas';and it was around in the 70s and early 80s. I like a piece called Vereda Tropical. If you have any thing by this group I will be graceful to you if you upload it. Thank you again for sharing your music treasure.
sorry about below-i was just testing the comments because it wouldnt got through. just wanted to say that I really love this music and how it sounds on the turntable. I listen to this clip a lot and I am definitely looking into buying a scout. I was wondering if you could possibly send me the audio or video uncompressed. I would really appreciate it. I'd also love to know more about your setup/cartridge and the blue mod. -Eric

crooner2007 11 months ago
how much was your turntable ???
KellanE05 11 months ago
@KellanE05 $1800 for the turntable. $800 for the cartridge. The maple butcher block base was $50. Cables were $200.
crooner2007 11 months ago
@crooner2007 and do you get a HQ sound from it ..so is it worth the money ??
KellanE05 11 months ago
@KellanE05 Absolutely!
If I were buying a VPI table today, I'd consider the Classic model instead. I think it blends better with my vintage Marantz electronics.
Actually, a used Thorens TD-124 would be nice also.
Greetings!
