Ported boxes hit harder but sealed boxed hit cleaner. it could be louder if the hcca's were in a ported box, but i would have done that from the start. but if you want clean low bass with minimal viberations in the car, a sealed box is the way to go. hcca's move a ton of air with a four inch excursion in a ported box.
@wizardgmailcom thier in a sealed box with not much room to move air arround so they are pushing air agenst each other causing them to be out of sync, another reason could be is if he had them hooked up to diffrent amps, hccs's use about 2000 watts each minimal.
@wizardgmailcom the onions are not in sync with the mtx because the 15 onions are for the lows and the 12 mtx are for the mids each hitting at different frequency's.
@ShutD0wnAudio I put the hcca's in a sealed box because I already had the mtx 12's in the car and decided to leave them in rather than pull them out to make room for a larger ported or vented box for the orion's.
dude this is awesome. i got a 79 trans am and ive had over 20 different boxes in the back seat and trunk but the setup u got for the 2 15's looks like a good idea man i might have to build a box like that. right now im runnin a pioneer premier 12 at 2 ohms with a power acoustik 3000 mono block. (1700 rms at 1 ohm, 1300 at 2 ohms) in my back seat.
got 2 12" L7s in my dodge 3500 cummins, i'm flexing my roof with em. I'm running 2500watts which is quite a bit for em but I'm not over abusing them either
@nottinmatterz2day i think you you had a ported box for the 15''s, and side orts foe the other box, also if there were a way to face all of em toward the trunk, would make em even louder. You also have alot in there, the subs are fightng for airspace. How many db's are you hittin man?
mah its just the camera distorting the sound and them are the subs i have in my 69 GTO judge it sounds deadly with a 2 12' kickers under the pasanger seet and driver seat the kickers make chicks wet when u blast them
different sized subs=cancellation, and wha the fuck! in a 77! a fuckin 77' trans am....jesus.....thats a beautiful i have no idea why anyone would do that to one
@MrBobby3342 yeah or else the headlights would dim on every bass hit and the quality would lower because it couldn't get the power it needs right away on bass hits
Capacitors don't help your electrical system, or with dimming lights. They help your amplifier during sound reproduction with spikes in power consumption, kinda giving your amplifier a power boost during a hard 45hz tone (since that's what amps roll at). If your lights dim, that means you need more juice or a high output alternator. Caps are just another drain on your electrical system.
ur killin those hccas...they want soooooooooo much more power and a better box...trash the mtx's and make a better PORTED box for the hccas and it'll b louder than ur whole setup now...guaranteed
Different Sized subs are a no no for starters... and different brands just produce all jumble of dirty bass. looks like a good install but selection couldve been better :/
@Cliffordburleson He's probably planned on using the 12's for midbass, but it looks to me like all the subs are taking all the frequencies. So yea he pulled a no no lol.
thanks. yeah this one is strictly what i recorded and from just builtin camcorder microphone, the 2nd video i overlayed the song audio partially so you can hear the song better
that enclosure is way to small for those subs, those are competition subs brother, i bet your not even getting half the power out of them that they are capable of. Get rid of the 3 mtx's and get a bigger enclosure.
besides mismatching sub sizes and brands youve got about 500-600 amps worth of current pull from those 2608's, how many HO alts ya got to keep the voltage up?
@nottinmatterz2day no but they will try to play the same frequencies but at different pitches, which generally sounds like crap. do you have the mtx subs crossed over or do they play all the way down with the 15s?
@nottinmatterz2day yeah.... they would sound much better if you ran just the orions... two of those 15" orions on a true rated 2500+ rms each should be in the 150s in music. my team mates jeep did 154's with 2 HCCA 15's on 6k rms.
@twofivefourlos From what i know its basically the way that the sub cycles when playing a frequency. All of the subs need to be moving the same way at the same time, other wise they cancel out. speakers themselves dont make sound. they manipulate the air around them into making sound. So if one is moving in while another is moving out it reduces the sound PRESSURE. its only an issue when running different amps for different subs, or if you crossed a wire when wiring it up.
@twofivefourlos lol cancel each other out seriously no it gives u a better range of of highs becuz 12s hit highs good but the 15s will kill the lows lol
@twofivefourlos -its best to match excursions, everytime a 12" hits a full excursion an 8" does a full two excursions. this is good because they'll hit a beat in sync. but if u have a 10"...things get complicated, because a 10" will have a full and a half excursions in the time a 12" does one.
- I own several size subs because u have more range-(differant levels of frequency) in every song. Hope this helped, keep on bumpin!
This is completely wrong, just because a sub is a different size doesn't mean it cant play the same frequencys, hit just as fast as another sub. People think the larger sub you go the lower it hits, you can make 8's hit just as low.
As long as they are in phase with each other, and the ports are facing the same way, I would think it doesn't matter much if they are different sizes :D
Different sized subs don't cancel eachother out. The only way subs cancel eachother out would be if they were run in different polarities. Smaller subs respond better to higher frequencies while larger subs respond better to lower frequencies. Having different sized subs would have to be hooked up to different amplifiers, tuned differently from eachother, and be ideal if you NEEDED that kind of tuning, or just for bragging rights.
@twofivefourlos LOL you no how fucking hard it is to cancel sound. 1 sub has to be producing a 180 degree out of phase tune to another sub to cancel each other out
@samussamus1 That's the idea but that's not necessarily true, a 18" will still play 60hz while an 8" will still play 10hz but will that 8" be as loud? Of course not.
yeah but i still know what those orion hcca can do. my buddy has one of them in a 4 cubic foot L-port box tuned to 26hz and judging by your videos it would outperform both of yours. you need a bigger box and it needs to be ported
you can get pulled over for it here too. i guess for sound quality its a preference thing and depends on what you listen to. but for rap like in the vids a ported box sounds much better if tuned right. a sealed box doesnt pick up the lower bass notes as well.
@nottinmatterz2day uhhh buddy you can get pulled over about anywhere for bumping nowadays, im in NY and it constantly happens, doesent mean ya cant get loud,. and you can get Q through ported, just depends how you do it. woofers like that need ported lol. no affense. your choice. but the box is mostly likely giving you rediculously high bass, them subs are made for lowZ
i agree with other posts. those HCCA aren't performing nearly as well as they can. they need a larger ported box. and lose the mtx unless you wanna put them in small sealed boxes as mid bass drivers
Does he have any dynamat in there? I know that thing rattles like crazy!!! What speakers are used for the highs? If you can halfway hear the words with all that bass they must be pretty good!
Yeah in the trunk I believe, read the description for (1) JL Audio 300/4v2 Amp with 1 Pair of JL Audio XR650-cxi & 1 Pair of JL Audio ZR650-csi component speakers
also you can check out the 2nd video, use the link at the beginning of this video at the top or in the description

yeah but i still know what those orion hcca can do. my buddy has one of them in a 4 cubic foot L-port box tuned to 26hz and judging by your videos it would outperform both of yours. you need a bigger box and it needs to be ported
ocswarriors43 2 years ago
it doesn't need to be ported, we want best quality. he doesn't get to play them loud very often. you get pulled over in california for that
nottinmatterz2day 2 years ago
you can get pulled over for it here too. i guess for sound quality its a preference thing and depends on what you listen to. but for rap like in the vids a ported box sounds much better if tuned right. a sealed box doesnt pick up the lower bass notes as well.

@nottinmatterz2day Even then, ported sounds TONS better then a pos sealed junky box.

@nottinmatterz2day a properly built ported box can sound just as good

@nottinmatterz2day You get pulled over in almost any state. Go big or go home!

i agree with other posts. those HCCA aren't performing nearly as well as they can. they need a larger ported box. and lose the mtx unless you wanna put them in small sealed boxes as mid bass drivers
