Felix was invented by Otto Messmer who was from New Jersey not Australia. His boss, Pat Sullivan was from Australia and claimed credit for inventing Felix but there is no evidence to support it. He took credit because he owned the copyright. And for those who think Felix is only recently popular in Japan, he's been popular there for decades.

Well, technically he was created on American soil, and a high majority of his cartoons were produced in America, so I suppose despite his Australian paternity, I think Felix qualifies as an American Cartoon.

And I don't know, the only basis I have to agree on is that this animation style and storytelling pales in comparison to the ' 90s "Twisted Tales of Felx" series.

Well, The Twisted Tales, despite the fact that it was descent, wasn't really doing him justice. The voices in the show were god awful, and the animation was a little, well not that great. The 50's cartoon was the best series that he's really been in. The Twisted Tales actually paled in comparison to the silent era, that it was trying to emulate.

It's only japanese because a japanese studio is making the animation and stuff it. The dude who directed and produced "Felix the Cat" (1959) and "Twisted Tales of Felix" (1995) is directing and producing this one as well. So I'd say It's "Americapanese" version.
