One of my favorite Alexander O'Neal cuts. If you notice,the melody for Can You Stand The Rain is very similar to Sunshine's with slight alterations. I had heard that Jam/Lewis originally had Alexander O'Neal in mind for Can You Stand The Rain but he passed up on it,so that was how New Edition got hold of it. I felt that he would have did that song just as good as New Edition had he decided to record it.
