No, he didn`t. In the 20s double bass players used to slap the bas in order to make themselves heard. Lately, in the 60s,Larry Graham was playing with his mother in tha church and they had no drummer so Larry started to pluck the g string in the place of snare drum. I think this was the slap birth. Later he played with Sly and Family Stone.Check it out !!
Yes, L.Johnson is an important slapper, that´s why I posted him. But.... most of his things are really fast and there`s people who`s not so fast as that and more musical. I love Victor Wooten, for instance.The charme about the guys I posted is that they started a whole new thing with their improvements on slap technique.
