In many parts of the country you can buy a one or two bedroom condo for about 1/10th of what they got for the house. I feel bad for all his victims, but these people are by no means ordinary. Ordinary people don't have million dollar homes and live in the hamptons. That statement she made in the beginning about being ordinary tells me that they have been rich too long. Ordinary people struggle to put food on the table, let alone summer in the hamptons.

As an example, my late father was a college professor (not a high paying profession) and a disabled vet on top of that. He bought a house for $27,000 that ended up being worth a million by the time he died, plus he lived like a pauper....saved every cent & wore the same cloths for 40 years..... So ordinary people "can" end up with million dollar homes

to Inkey. Yes I too know many people like that. I'm close to being one of them myself. I live very modest and save as much as I can. I never made more then $60K a year and have amassed much money becuase of my habits. However, from what this lady said in the beginning about giving up her summer home tells me she is not one of those people who lived modestly for many years. I'm not saying that this should haave happened to anyone, but some of the priviliged may be humbled to live modestly.
