This video is true. This is why Skyrim had a small disappiontment to me. Oblivion always challenged you, because the creatures leveled up as you did. In Skyrim, it was the first couple of levels that challenged you, then you're all like, "OMG I AM INVINCIBLE!" "I CAN KILL YOU BEFORE YOU CAN SEE ME!" or "I CAN SPAM FIRBALLS UNIT YOUR BALLS FALL OFF!"
That's exactly what I felt like through all these years... But they want people to be dumb and will continue making casual games... And the compromise is probably not what they will be aiming at. But I still hope for a bright future of gaming.
@stevesan They've pretty much been doing this already anyway and indie gaming has never been better, but indie developers also lack the manpower and funding to put out big titles like Skyrim or Dark Souls so in order to see stuff like that we have to rely on bigger developers funded by publishers. I would like to see those types of games offer a legitimate challenge as well whenever appropriate.
Definitely a good point. To be honest, I don't want the hard stuff to come back but I do want games to be harder. I mean when I hold one of the fastest records of beating Halo: Reach Solo on Legendary difficulty, there's something wrong. I do like how, even slightly, you showed Terraria gameplay in the end of the vid because it is a game that involves thinking and active problem solving even against bosses. You do not know how many times I threw my mouse at a wall to defeat The Destroyer.
@LawrencewithaU The konami code is a cheat code which gives you like (i dunno) 30 lives? It is a big achievement to beat this game without it because it is so fucking hard
I agree 100%. Beating one level of Ninja Gaiden is infinitely more satisfying than beating an entire COD campaign. I want to feel like I've accomplished something, not that I was just along for the ride.
Yeah but some games work being easy, I used to play Animal crossing which i still consider to be a good game, it's damn easy but doesn't make it less of a game. But on the other hand the whole concept of online multi-player wasn't a big thing back then so they had more time to focus on storyline and difficulty whereas nowadays developers couldn't care less what a storyline is like or how difficult it is when people mainly buy the game for it's multi-player uses. e.g. Gears 3 and Cod games

Hey how about just let the indies handle this market? As an aspiring indie developer, I could do with less competition from AAA studios :)
And yeah, more Dark Souls influence on games sounds good to me!
