  • How smart this is...

  • Isnt that the same black glove OJ Simpson used to kill!!!!! lol

  • Refrigerators are also good at using lots of energy.

  • electric massage chairs take quite a bit too!

  • I cut my dryer time in more then half by buying a spin-x dryer,it spins around 4500 rpm much faster then your dryer and less time in the dryer is less wear too.

  • @indman101 Dry them outside in warm weather. Oh wait she's in Canada so there's not much of that ;-)

  • Look at her dilated pupils... I think she's on LSD, either that or she's a Lizardalien

  • Free energy can change the world! But Millions are spend in supressing that information,Check this free energy magnet motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Start the revolution!

  • This videos was produced for children television? Couldnt you reshoot without the sirens? By the way, my meter is digital. XD

  • Do we have tons of energy? Yeah, we may... but how long will it last? And more importantly, how much it is going to cost us and how will we appropriated obtained it? I was confused and I found great answer in the xxPowerOnxx channel

  • skyfitsheaven the formula is Kh x 3.6 =

you can find the rate Kh on your electrical meter

when you find the rate you can work out the formula

  • I recommend one of those "Kill-A-Watt" gadgets.

It's a small box that plugs into an outlet, that itself has an outlet in which you plug an appliance into.

It has a display that indicates the wattage, and even can measure how much energy was used over a given period of time.

You'd be amazed how much you can save by turning the heat in the house way down at night when you're asleep, and run electric heater in just the bedroom !!!

  • What a pant-load, the point of the stop watch? I like cotton, lets do what real women once did, get your lazy asses outside and hang the clothes on a damn line!

  • Good video. The dryer and dishwasher are really big users of electricity so it's no surprise the meter was spinning that much faster.

If you wanted to know how much power is flowing through your electric meter there is a formula you could use. It is Kh X 3600 divided by time of one revolution of meter disc in seconds = Watts. The Kh value is found on the front of the meter and the meter's constant value. This, of course, does not work with newer "smart" electronic meters

  • thanks so much for your comment...interesting to know. i also learned recently that power bars are heavy users of electricity and most people don't realize.

  • @SkyFitsHeaven24 on digital meters use the scrolling blocks on the display which 1 blk=kh. most residential meters are kh of 1.8 or 3.6 or 7.2 depending on if they are 120v 2 wire, 3 wire or 120/240 3 wire KH= volts x test amps divided by100 except for a small# of meter brands like schlumberger. test amps is labeled on meter face as TA=XX xx usually 15 for 120v and 30 for 240 and that is what the meter is tested for accuracy at. full load test. so kh = ie 240 x 30 /100=7.2

  • I'm using an CRT 19' monitor...until today I have't looked at the power consuption... 150W O_o well my first 17'CRT had 75W

    I.e. the apple 30'LCDmonitor also needs 150W.

The problem was-I was using 2CRT's at once for extended desktop about 300W.

For downloading i.e. I have installed an old pc 800MHz and set to 500MHz the power consuption of it is now about 60W. It is an difference to my another Dual2Core (about 170W) and this isn't an power pc.

It is better to use an notebook (about 60W) :)

  • How come everyone is hatin on this video so much, this all made alot of sense

  • stupid video for stupid people .

i heard americans are stupid but now im very sure hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • ummmmmm ontario is in canada.... now who is stupid...

they both eat from the same dish of stupidity hhhhhhhhhhh

  • well im australian..where do i sit in this stupidity?...lol

  • Rasshidd dude your full of shit lol.

  • The shower uses the most energy 8.5 kilowatts and 150 revs/kwh = 1 turn in 2.8 seconds

  • interesting

  • this clip was originally produced for children's television. the researcher here is a Canadian with an impressive background in science communication. so there.

  • only a brit would make a comment like that. btw use spell check!

  • I haven't written such a comment but althought I'm writing down ".com" the youtube opens in my language SVK.

It makes me angry because this is doing google too and I can't use i.e. the "spell check".

  • Stop playing games. Cut your electric by up to 50% am month. Get my secret by asking me. It as easy as 15 minutes to save

  • where u really bored one day or something

  • this was originally produced for children's television

  • Hi, You are so cute. What a darling. You have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen! Wow, would I like to make a "difference in (your) environment". lol.

  • I like the way you explain about how to save electricity and recycle. :) Save the Planet!!!

  • : ))

  • This is stupid

  • it's simplified, but not stupid

  • I think you're cool. Need more people [especially ladies] like you.

  • sara thanks you...lol

  • it's like that seinfeld ep

  • It would have been better if you turn the appliances on one by one and time the meter each time.

  • yeah...that's actually how the experiment goes. but this was originally compiled for kid's TV so we went for the dramatic difference.

  • so you have shown, that more turned on devices generate more power consumption. It's logic. What you haven't maintioned is the difference in [KWh] is when everythng is turned off and on. So nobody will learn anything new.

Besides that, you will not save the Earth by not turning on dishwasher etc, becouse all the power generated in power plants is stored, so you have no affect on their production. Besides, water power plants are harmless for enviroment.

    sorry my english.

  • I think reduction in energy use is important to the environment. This experiment is intended to give people an awareness of their energy use on a small scale.
