  • Aug 2011: So fast forward to 2011, FEMA money was spent and a rockwall was put up in back of my property. It has stood healthy through 2 storms the last being Hurricane Irene this past weekend August 28-29th here in west Nyack. No flooding for us but down a few houses sadly this did not hold true.

  • The Army corp of engineers was supposed to fix it 1997. It became the source of a 2001 lawsuit between Rockland county and the town of Clarkstown as to who should be the lead agency in managing the stream. Rockland county Resolution No. 410 OF 2004 was supposed to allocate five million dollars to repair and correct the Demarest Kill stream. The Army's contract was renewed in 2006. I don't know if the repairs were ever made.

  • Thanks for the note. Last April 2007(?) after the houses below me were flooded, repair was made in that area. this year, repair is in the works for my area of the stream.
