  • I really want to know how carnivores and omnivores fit into this utopia where nothing is killed.

  • Happy New Year!

  • "And the meek shall inherit the earth." And it looks like they'll do a much better job of taking care of it than we did.

  • I had chills (the bad kind) watching the nukes go off. Never had a cartoon done that before. Bravo!

  • He was worst then grandpa squirrel peace on earth

  • @foxnbccbsabc Worse how? I like the reverend mouse but I DO prefer the Grandpa Squirrel, maybe because I grew up on him.

  • @TheBoolWorm1718

Thank you very much! I thouth I'd never find lyrics for this version! Thanks from Moscow=)

  • @KitsunReichan You're welcome from America. LOL! Merry Christmas!

  • Oh my God! Thank you for this! I'd had this on tape, and I've needed this for something, and I couldn't find it for shit. Thanks a million!

  • While I love Hana Barbera's cartoons and this is excellent, I like the original version ("Peace on Earth") a little better because of its focus on how the different groups of people were always fighting and could never get along...this one seems more anti-nuclear war than anything.

  • 'cause english is second language for me & eventhough i learn it for more than 10 years still i can't understand some words..

  • guys! i need lyrics of this song! i'll show you where i need!! Hark! The Herald Angels sing Glory to the (??) king! Peace on Earth, good will to men Peace on Earth, (??) Joyfull all ye creatures sing: He (?????????????) Turn the world and give me star(is that right??) Peace on Earth, forever Lord(right?) Hark our praise we sing again(right??) Peace on Earth, good will to men Joyfull all ye creatures sing Glory to the (??) king (.....) Peace on Earth good will to men
  • @KitsunReichan I'll help you out the best I can: Hark the herald angels sing, glory to the Lord our King. Peace on Earth, goodwill to men, peace on earth shall reign again. Joyful all ye creatures be: He at last the world did free, to the world He did restore, peace on Earth forever more. Hark our praise we sing again, peace on Earth goodwill to men. Joyful all ye creatures sing, glory to the Lord our King. Hark our praise we sing again, peace on earth goodwill to men.

  • @KitsunReichan

    Lyrics for Christmas Carols (songs)?

    Try:

    h t t p : / / w w w. c a ro l s. o r g. uk/

(close gaps between letters and symbols)

  • he fuck? This is depressing and morbid! How can you think this is "touching"?

  • In the beginning it's pretty much the same as the 1939 peace on earth version. Thus I thought It's a simple remake. But then the "update" came: Hiroshima and Nagasaki...

  • i just which it was less christian..

  • @thetasurfers Yeah, I fucking hate peace on Earth. Fucking Christians and their good will to men.

  • @RenovatedLocksmith haha yeah. the idea is good, but just too......christian.

    gawddammit.

  • @thetasurfers *wish

  • I likes it better when the two last men shot each o0ther. It was much more dramatic than watching two big balls grow on top of each other. hehehe

  • So does this mean that one day these animals will encounter another group that found the Quran(Koran) and start the whole religious warfare all over again?

  • Describing nuclear explosions to a bunch of 8 year olds doesn't seem like something a priest should be doing...

  • This was actually quite epic.

  • @BlackTemplar43 Compared to the general state of MGM's cartoons during the CinemaScope era, this really is epic--only three years before Huckleberry Hound, Hanna & Barbera's last brush with Disney-level animation proved that they hadn't lost their touch. Even now those delta-wing bombers and missiles are chilling. The only thing missing, as Michael Barrier pointed out about "Peace On Earth", are civilian casualties. That would have really socked it home.

  • @moogyboy6 I'm actually surprised that H&B didn't get dragged before the HUAC for promoting pacifism; in the '50s I imagine anyone critical of America's military might would've been branded a Communist sympathizer.

  • when i was oyung i used to cry while listening to this song. i adore it!! & finally i found this cartoon on youtube!

  • I think Good Will To Men is better. They had the 'The End' ending cards.

  • Peace on Earth was made before WWII, this was made after, and with Nukes in mind. If we make something new to get a similar point across, I don't know how we'd do it, but I think it needs to be done, and it needs to be better than both shorts combined. I think that if we did, though, it'd have something to do with terrorism and the stupid responses it's had in the last decade.

  • 'Peace On Earth' is superior.

  • Just to make this clear: The nuclear holocaust obliterated every single man from the face of the earth, but these animals simply crawled out of their holes like nothing happened? Despite that they seem to be completely unaffected by the initial blast, they'd either starve to death because everything on the surface was burned to crisp or die from radiation sickness. I know that this was the time when Russia got the nuke, but the original made far more sense than this one.

  • @angriffsritter this cartoon was more made of symbolism, not realism.

  • 5:22 - Moscow?

    5:30 - New York City?

  • i'm surprised the kid... mice... things diddnt ask, "what are bombs?"

  • I wonder how the mice survived the radiation poisioning from the result of nuclear warfare.

  • Not only did Peace on Earth drive the message home better, it also left mostly ambiguous with all issues, including religion. This one just had to go out of the way to make that religion Christianity, and they failed. If anything, this remake does a better job at showing how brainwashed religious people are by depicting the kids singing a religious song and not really knowing a thing about it.

  • @FuzedBox

Legacy of the Cold War I'm afraid - if the CIA could get their hands into a pacifist movie to convey a message that is obviously oppose to the Communists, which of course defeats the whole exercise of the cartoon, No wonder humanity is so fucked up.

  • The 1939 version was grittier.

  • The bible also says "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"

  • @cartoonviolencerocks That's Hammurabi's Code

  • @cartoonviolencerocks It also says "Turn the other cheek" and "Love thy enemies".

  • @Jakegothicsnake the bible should make up it's darn mind.

  • @cartoonviolencerocks It sort of did. It's kind of hard for me to explain.

  • @Jakegothicsnake i know the bible and just because im not particularly christian doesnt mean i dont respect it. i hope youre not one of those people who screeches out GOD BLESS or PUT JESUS IN FRONT OF THEE or IF YOU LIKE BLCK SABBATH YOULL PERISH IN ETERNAL FIRE.

  • @cartoonviolencerocks If you're looking for fundamentalist, puritanical, bible thumpers, you can relax. I'm cool. I don't think being a Black Sabbath fan is enough to merit eternal damnation. ;)

  • @Jakegothicsnake excellent

  • @cartoonviolencerocks Jesus said "You heard it was said "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" BUT I say to you, turn the other cheek.... he didn't agree with the phrase. I haaaate when people misquote that part.

  • @GaspyConana

Jesus didn't agree with the word of God? He expressed what it was: God reaching out to his people where they were at the time. It was a limitation on violence, not a prescription for violence. Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to abolish it.

  • That's in the Old Testament.

  • wow looking for this for YEARSSSS . THank you so much !!

  • @Sepia1989 i have been searching for awhile too

  • Time for yet another remake? It seems that the point hasn't been driven home enough yet

  • @IanAttari what would the remake be called/

  • @malikscifi92 Wouldn't really matter what they call it, as long as it helps people get the point.

  • @IanAttari well at least they actually tried, unlike many remakes out there.

  • @IanAttari well at least they actually tried, unlike many remakes out there.

  • @IanAttari Looks like we may be going to war with Iran.

  • @IanAttari

    Too true.

  • Why are the raccoons sitting only in the back pew of the church?

Not as effective as the original, IMHO, with the soldier getting shot and sinking into the mud.

  • @ptupper72 The bombing scene definitely fits the time period better, but the original ending is much better in my opinion.

  • Sorry, but I can't help but feel that this is overly-derivative.

  • This and "Peace On Earth" are both still timely cartoons. I find them both very touching. Thanks for posting.

  • @Ilikequiche101 so do I.

  • Needs more views...

I see there is much greater influence from WWII than in Peace on Earth; ironically released before the worst war in history. I prefer the original, but this is good too.

  • The Cartoon of my childhood... Oh, how long I looked for it... :(
