  • if I read another comment about how it's "ironic" how beethoven or the monarchy are german i will be sick since

neither of these situations are ironic in anyway at all so please please stop listening to Alanis Morisette

so what if the monarchy has a german heritage they have been german since King George I

and even if Beethoven was alive during Nazi germany he would of not been a nazi he hated dictators and actually tore up his Symphony #3 when he found out Napoleon proclaimed himself emperor

  • @Jasper123194 Wow jasper, look at you all sexy and educated and angry..

And funny with the Alanis crack. Best comment ever :)

  • BEAUTIFUL!!! :°)°°°°°

  • Perseverance, Insistency, Tenacity, Determination, Persistence, Inspiration, Motivation....all of these things...seem to personify what this music is trying to tell us...trying to make us have all these qualities..this is smiply awesome!

  • absolutely brillant!

  • Beautiful, great movie.

  • I listened to this song when dressing up for a job interview. Like a king.

  • I hate the royal family and everything it stands for so I can't really enjoy the movie, however, I will say it has an awesome soundtrack!

  • @thatkindofguy234 Out of interest, why do you hate them?

  • @animotioned The royal families have killed millions in their name. Not to mention everything about them is immoral. They suck up the tax payers money and are nothing but a weight on our shoulders IMO.

  • This music is what got "The King's Speech" an Oscar.

  • Darn it!!! Beethoven did it again!!!

  • What the hell is this talk of nazi's?! wtf, relax

  • @BonnieVanDerLeee Watch the movie.

  • The royal familly is originary german. They are from "Sax-Cobourg and Gotha" a small german village. They changed for Windsor during WWI, because of british nationalism. And This song is western civilization incarnate! Don't care from where it come!

  • @DorianEudesSeverin Thats not really true.. only Prince albert, who married Victoria was from sax cobourg:p

  • watched the movie loved awesome

  • At my Funeral I want this song played...

  • And suddenly I realized that Bellatrix Lestrange was the queen mother.

  • @historyboy666

Its weird seeing her with normal hair

  • The people who disliked this are obviously the people who don´t like this video...

  • nice

  • I think he was speaking figuratively of the Nazi's that wanted to attack the U.K. not, literally, the music.

  • We're doing this song for our color guard show call Don Du

  • the most amazing symphony ever!!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if u here to listen this again :)

  • Like this music so much, thanks Ludwig van beethoven

  • here is an example of how music can interfere with ones emotions

  • @HarryRocks1996 Sorry but who is that Bertie ?

  • @wolverinesw It's a nickname for Albert (the protagonist... you know, the one who became king)

  • great piece of music...

In which movie is this music also used? It's driving me crazy

  • @Psychalimon: The Fall... finally!!

  • @Psychalimon

     It was also in Zardoz.

  • @Psychalimon It's also in Immortal Beloved

  • @Psychalimon It was also in the movie Knowing with Nicolas Cage. They play a bit of it near the beginning as well as at the end when he is driving to his parents' home.

  • "Forget everything else, and just say it to me."

  • Brilliantly chosen piece of music - gave out all the passion of the music, the moment, the words, the struggle for speech and the caring encouragement of Lionel Logue.

  • Its ironic because this music was composed by a GERMAN composer.

  • 13 Nazis disliked this.

  • @CheatEngineFun Why nazis ?

  • @CheatEngineFun dumb, nazis were marching on Beethoven's music and he was hitlers favorite composer.

  • @iliabashel

Beethoven and Bach were the two greatest composers. Both German. Beethoven's 7th and 9th Symphonies are perhaps the apex of Western music Hitler's favorite composer was Richard Wagner. Look it up.

  • @billsx21 Richard Wagner was only famous for Ride of the Valkyrias and Hitler liked that one. Beethoven was his FAVORITE composer with that guy and also some Austrian composer whose name I dont remember.

    /watch?v=2itdv1aEpG4

  • @CheatEngineFun - this is GERMAN music, you silly twat. This British film may have appropriated it for their agenda, but it is Beethoven's achievement so deserves to be seen as the best of Germany. Not that the jingoistic imbeciles like yourself care about anything beyond your own shores.

  • @CheatEngineFun well another nazi just disliked your comment

  • @CheatEngineFun I'm a nazi and I liked this video, umad?

  • @CheatEngineFun 4 more joined the Nazis

  • @CheatEngineFun Heil Mein Fuhrer!

  • @CheatEngineFun why should nazis dislike a song written by a german? stupid comment.

  • @DaveTheFuckingBrave Nazis favored the arian race, not all germans were Nazis and vice versa

  • @mrdropkicker1 so do you know if beethoven was arian ...?

  • The music that one hears before he or she gives a presentation for a University project.

  • They could not have chosen a better piece for this part in the movie. I'm so glad they chose this piece. I probably would have overlooked it, and missed out on such a beautiful piece.

  • As soon as I heard the first two notes of this masterpiece, I knew what was coming. Beautifully chosen piece. It is without a shadow of a doubt the ideal piece for this moment in the film.

  • Alexandre Desplat perhaps was behind the idea of using this Allegretto for the speech scene. I am sure many of us heard this 2nd movement of the 7th symphonie for the first time when watching the movie (in fact I discovered it afterwards, when checking about the soundtrack). Then I knew it had been used in another film as well.

    Thanks Alexandre. Nicely done.

  • i want to cry i feel happiness sad is something i cand explain there is something into me makes me explode of happiness and sad

  • This was the most powerful scene in the movie, yet this music takes it to a whole new level.

  • about the origen of Ludwig van Beethoven.. His grandfather(Lodewijk van Beethoven) from his father(johann van Beethoven) side came from Mechelen, Belgian. Ludwig van Beethoven lived his live in Germany and was born there so one could say he was German. His forefathers do explain the VAN instead of VON in his name

  • world peace speech

  • wat if beethoven new that his creation wud b so popular till now

  • Comment removed

  • @clenk44 Beethoven composed this.

  • Are we seriously debating over Beethoven's nationality? Can we not just enjoy this beautiful piece of music without having to get into arguments in the comments section?

  • Are we seriously debating over Beethoven's nationality? Can we not just enjoy this beautiful piece of music without having to get into arguments in the comments section?

  • who conducts this one

  • The only nation Hitler belongs to is Hell.

  • I'm sorry but what has Beethoven's nationality got to do with anything? Stop bickering and enjoy the music!

  • There is nothing ironic about it.

Had he been a Nazi it would have been. He wasn't. He lived as a subject of the Holy Roman Empire, a loyal subject of a royal family related by blood to the English royal family.

The man would have had nothing to do with Nazi scum.

  • @macconnell100 Lol you're a fucking dumb ass. To call Hitler a Nazi Scum would be an insult. Hitler was the leader of the Nazi Scums, so to call him an equal title to them is very offending. Nazi's were forced into battle and unfortunately media makes them look much worse than they were. Now please, next time call him an evil dictator or something....

its like saying God is an Angel.

    you MONSTER

  • How is it possible there's people who don't know Beethoven's nationality? o0

As for this piece, the only word that comes to my mind when I hear it is 'nobility'.

  • remember 9/11

  • I am a German like Beethoven! Hitler was Austrian and my Queen of hearts is still "Diana"! Are there any questions?

  • if there was somone that tell us about world peace and why we should need it this would be the music

  • Wasn't this one part of a death scene in some movie?

  • Maybe one day, the British Empire will Return...It's sad how other Nations like Canada, Australia and New Zealand really wanted to sever their connection with the Empire...Now Britain is just a small blip, an insignificent spec on the face of the planet, but it's shadow remains, a shadow which dwarfes all others. The might of the British Empire will never be Forgotten.

  • @ReichWOLF141 The might of the Greek & Roman empires just shadows yours to be honest. Learn some history before you start rambling!

  • @greekwiz The sun never set on the British Empire. But it is truly a matter of opinion, no need to be offended. What makes you think I lack historical knowledge?

  • @ReichWOLF141 The Sun never set on the Spanish Empire either.

  • @ReichWOLF141 What's with the random capitalization? Forgotten, return, and nations aren't more important words or anything. Not to be pedantic, I'm just curious.

  • @Cerfule What with the riots going on over there though?

  • "Defecation flows trippingly from the tongue! "

  • Beethoven was Bonner;-)

  • sooo who bought this song or is indefinitly buying it? MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • "In this grave hour, perhaps the most fateful in our history...."

  • I used stammer in some part of the speech specially really long words when I speak English. Because I'm afraid of the native English speakers hear my speech.

After watching this beautiful masterpiece, it helped me to relax when I address a speech specially toward people who are native English speakers.

Really inspirational movie and thanks for uploading the soundtrack.

    Really appreciated.

  • i am totally in love with this song

  • When this played, I could not hold back my tears. Watching him fight to give a speech that would inform and ease the souls of his subjects. This music was ideal for the final piece.

  • @UrbanPAJFreeman000 you convince me with those words

  • Those six jerkoffs who disliked this have no taste.

  • film compelling to watch......a very human, moving story portrayed wonderfully.......music addictive & uplifting....& yes great to play loud!!! I agree........ Beethoven's wonderful music lives on! Credit due also to the timing of music throughout the film. never tire of it..

  • Beautiful song for a wonderful film, but... the tempo they used in this arrangement was kinda slow if you compare to the original one. Anyway, a very touching music! A brilliant combination!

  • @megabluealpha Its because they had to cover 5 minutes of speech.

  • First time i'v played music loudly an my cultured naighbours didnt complain!! Thanks Beethoven :)

  • play then repeat play, repeat, play, repeat.... it's just that beautiful

  • This is one of the most remarkable pieces of the whole film - an excellent choice of music!

  • wait, isnt this song also from " knowing " ?

  • @licksomebills Yes! When everybody dies.

  • I wish i were british. I'm just 1/512 irish. Half peruvian, a little of chilean. hmm.

Whatever, i love this film, XD

  • @LON009 ooo be proud of your chilean roots bro :D

  • im only 24 and that film taught me what being truly british means and why britan was such a strong nation . it shames me to see how much of what so many had to fight to get has been wasted away to nothing for nothing

  • "we must stand together with each other in our greatest days and in our darkest hours" (kings speech)

  • 6 people are idiots beyond the conceivable mind...

  • Muy emotiva

Añadida a mi lista personal de Bandas sonoras favoritas. ^^

  • Its funny I never had any interest in seeing this movie... I saw maybe 5 minutes of it and I was hooked. This movie is very inspirational. I'm a big Chopin fan but Symphony #7 was always one of my favorites.

  • This song manages to capture so many emotions at once- wonder, apprehension, awe, joy, curiosity, drama, and melancholy. Thank you, Beethoven.

  • Hey how bout a download link? :(

  • good film & music.....even though this peice is german i think u have to be reminded that george vi was actually half german

  • this film spoke to me on so many different levels

  • @Cerfule This film makes me want to be British (I'm from Argentine).

  • @Janograd Me too... (from France ^^)

  • Ludwig van Beethoven is an European Treasure

  • @archeapeiron Beethoven is an Treasure of the Humanity

  • This makes me think how powerful King George the VI's speech was, Lionel also practically saved the country. It's amazing how powerful King George's words were. I wish to travel back in time to just hear his words directly, in the special feature you can hear it, but I wish to actually hear it, hear it.

  • de otro planeta, no es humano.

  • This was such a fascinating move by those in charge (included Mr Desplat) to include this in the score...even the Beethoven piano concerto elsewhere - why? Surely something British would have lent itself to the film? Vaughan Williams is perfectly contemporary with the events yet the Beethoven works stunningly well. Though completely out of character with the rest of the score the 7th Symphony was so perfect for this sequence it could have been specially composed. Immortal Beethoven indeed :)

  • Hauntingly beautiful music :) <3

  • @Cerfule Couldn't put it better myself

  • WONDERFUL!! THANK YOU!!! It's also important to say it's performed by the English symphony orchestra I think, and to find out who the conductor is..his/their credit.

  • @Cerfule Yes but this soundtrack is german ;)

  • @Cerfule I WISH I was British.

  • I remember hearing this music from other movie, but i forgot...anybody can tell me?

  • @23mecy23

I was also puzzled as to which other movie I heard it from. Mine was The Knowing (final scene) with Nicolas Cage. But its a much faster version. I prefer the ! from The King's Speech. Apparently it played in a few other movies as well.

  • @23mecy23 Yep, it was in the beginning of The Fall too.

  • @23mecy23 Knowing, I believe, it could be on more though.

  • @sozzman It is also used quite powerfully in Love Exposure when Yoko recites Corinthians 13 to Yu on the beach.

  • @nhmjackson Cool, I have never seen the film, I may well check it out though.

    Thanks.

  • Brilliant. Ironic Beethoven was German.

  • @pianolover123456789 That's quite accurate! Ironic indeed but wisely chosen though. Beethoven was German indeed but not a Nazi. Brilliant idea to select a german music theme to highight the most difficult speech of King George VI. Looks like a civilised method of 'cultural' revenge.

  • Απάντηση σε αυτό το βίντεο...

  • @pianolover123456789

ironic as well that the royal family is partly german ^^

  • @pianolover123456789

They didn't mind playing his fifth for the "V" for Victory during WWII.

  • Beethoven was european.

  • Beethoven was european.

  • @MrElpablo75

Actually, he was German and of Flemish ancestry.

  • @MrElpablo75 Germany's in Europe, so he was both

  • @pianolover123456789 Or rather appropriate.

  • @pianolover123456789 not really considering the british royal family ARE german!

  • @pianolover123456789 I don't get it, where's the irony?

  • @blodquatsch It's ironic because the speech was about the war with Germany, yet Beethoven was German.

  • @pianolover123456789 yeah but he openly critiziced what the germans were doing and he's an artist no matter if he's german.. This song is a true masterpiece! it fits so well to the scene and I loved it while watching in theatre! :D

  • @pianolover123456789 actually, he was Austrian, i think....

  • @QueenofGaianeria No, Beethoven was German :)

  • @psRicky93 oh. okay. :)

  • @QueenofGaianeria Beethoven was Belgian, hence Ludwig vAn Beethoven, instead of Ludwig vOn Beethoven.

  • @er7285 Beethoven was definitely German.

  • @er7285 mmm, are you sure? :/

  • @pianolover123456789 - Considering that the speech is about going to war with Germany, something they've been trying to avoid for years, I think it's quite fitting.

  • @Joaquin602001 Good point. The song can be seen as both ironic and appropriate. Everyone has an interpretation that deserves respect.

  • @pianolover123456789 so are they..

  • @pianolover123456789 Beethoven, of all people, would NEVER have been a Nazi. Beethoven, in fact, didn't closely associate himself to any nation as he believed in the brotherhood of all man. Beethoven was of the Universe.

  • @pianolover123456789 Ironic the ruling family of Britain was German.... :)

  • @pianolover123456789 All Nazis in the 1940s were German. That doesn't mean all Germans in every other time period were Nazis.

  • The end of this film always brings tears to my eyes,no matter how many times I have watched it-the most powerful combination of music and dialogue EVER in a movie.

  • Magnificent!

  • This is bar none my favorite thing that Beethoven ever written.

  • @EDGJZConglomerate listen the 3ºmov of his nine symphony ;)

  • 4 people must be extremely jealous of beethoven's genius, deaf, tone deaf, or youtube trolls. the 2nd movement allegretto of symphony 7 is probably one of the most inspiring pieces of music ever written. with that said, it fit perfectly with the king's speech- one of the most amazing films i've ever watched.

  • Such a powerful music!!!! Amazing!!!

  • ever time i hear this, its like i'm hearing it for the first time..
