  • I was horrified by the entire movie. Because racism is the pinnacle of spiritual ignorance I couldn't care less, but the Fire Nation was white. NOT middle-eastern.

  • @mark32811

How the hell are the fire nation white? All the characters are Asians of some sort. I think fire nation resemble East-Asians if anything. To put it bluntly there are no white people in the cartoon version and we all know it.

  • @jerde3 Dude they're white. Look at all the Fire Nation characters in this video. Do any of them look like anything but white? If you still disagree don't bother responding because there are very real and pressing matters going on in the world than this petty bullshit.

  • avatar roku wasnt even in this shitty movie

  • I'm from Malaysia. Why didn't they cast me as Zuko :(

  • well interestingly

Dev Patel was the only good thing about this film

  • who cares

  • omg.. stop wining..

  • I had no problem with Aang being white (though a different actor who could, you know, act, would've been nice), but Sokka and Katara should've absolutely been Inuit, or some sort of Native American. Earth nation? Predominately Chinese. Fire nation? Predominately Japanese.

  • @nordy2010

    earth nation chinese?

    weren't most earthbenders brown?

  • @TracksPyro Somewhat. But so are the Chinese people. The Earth Nation buildings, clothing styles, etc., are all heavily influenced by Chinese culture and architecture.

  • Why not just make a animated movie instead of a live action seriously we know its pretty much going be a summary of the series. Hollywood is running out of ideas and now they are trying to make cartoons into live action movies. Shit like this is why Hollywood sucks

  • movie sucked harder then anyhting iv ever seen. i bet M knight never even watched the damn Tv show he messed up so much on this movie and now he thinks its ok to make another one.

  • racist hollywood goes back a long time. they've also been treating blacks differently. look up dave chappelle and hear him out. he speaks the truth.

  • I have an answer for you. The guy who made the film is a hack, and therefore anyone involved within its production are also hacks. In the end it does not matter who was cast cause, lets face it, every actor was either talent-less or being directed by a hack .

  • silly shymalono-ding-dong. the fire nation (in terms of skin pigmentation) was actually the whitest. he literally did the opposite.

  • Clearly, decent shows with decent non-White characters are so offensive to Whites that they have to Whitewash the fuck out of them...

  • why are there asian, jewish, latino, black and native American scholarships and no white ones

  • @FAMEROB ::

White privilege and the fact that POC start at a disadvantadge in the USA. Please note though, they did manage to pass a white only scholarship. The people doing it definitely got the "side eye" but it exists.

  • Katara and Sokka were obviously not white, so at least they could have gotten that casting right. Even though maybe Aang's ethnicity in the show wasn't that obvious, why did they screw up Zuko? Zuko was freaking obviously Asian and so was his Uncle. WTF is with the dreadlocks? Plus, the only asians I saw were in the background of the Earth Kingdom, and the only Inuit looking ppl i saw were in the background of the Water Tribe. So you ppl need to shut up saying that the casting was fine xp.

  • im a super avatar the last air bender fan, i liked the special effects of this movie, but this movie left me with questions, " arent they all asian? " , well if they make a second movie, i hope they change everything they did and make it all better :L i love avatar and its one of the best shows for me. :] oh and one more thing, WHY DOES UNCLE IROH LOOK DIFFERENT IN THE MOVIE?

  • i can handle firelord ozai and zhao and sokka but ZUKO srry it's impossiple he's a badass character tand they have ruined him in the movie sooooooooooooo................... _l_

  • I don't care what ethnicity the actors are, as long as they LOOK like the characters they're portraying. Sokka and Katara are clearly not white, Zuko can either be white or eastern asian. But, I feel that Aang should be asian. (Not to mention the kid who played him is too baby-faced)

The only person I was pleased with was Yue.

  • @Kari166 Uh, you can't expect the actors to look like the characters WITHOUT caring about the actor's ethnicity. You clearly DO care about the actors' ethnicities, too, if you posted "Aang should be Asian" and such. That's like saying you don't care about an actor's ethnicity for Harry Potter, yet you want him to be white. You're just all over the place. A black person definitely won't look like Harry Potter, also. He'd have to be a VERY small fraction of black for that to be possible.

  • does it really matter? the movie was terrible to the extent that i almost fell asleep. And im an extreme Avatar the last airbender fan.

  • i hope toph will be asian :$ shes one of the best

  • I thought Katara and sokka would be played by Filipinos since they are darker asians normally. But nooo they were played by white people. . . whateva.

  • @x3kaaylaa No, they shoudn't have been played by Filipino people. They're more akin to Indigenous American people, especially the Inuit people. Since when do Filipino people wear fur parka and live in igluvigak?

  • @PUFFYsaidgo okay I am aware that Filipinos don't wear fur parkas. I am aware that my OWN race does not live in a place where it snows. But i'm saying what the characters in the show look like not what the people where they live literally look like. Katara and Sokka are not white.

  • @x3kaaylaa My concern is why you chose specifically Filipino people since Katara and Sokka can look like pretty much any brown Mongolic person. I don't see specifically the Filipino look. They really do look ambiguous, as in, it can't be determined what they are just from looking at them, like how it is with stick figures. One would have to look at the culture to determine what the best representation of the characters is. For the Water Nation, it's Inuit with a mix of other Indigenous

  • [CONTINUED] (notice the totem poles of the Northern Water Tribe). Of course, unlike other people who say that the cartoon style is ambiguous, I don't mean that they're white. People have said that since it can't be determined what ethnicity the characters are, a white person can play them.

I'm confused by what you just posted; are you saying that Inuit people, or other Indigenous people, don't look like Sokka or Katara? They do.

  • @x3kaaylaa your right eskimos are much more blacker but not that black

  • @x3kaaylaa I was hoping for Inuit people.

  • I don't think it should really matter.. Noah was good for the part! I'm sticking up for him yes! And always will!

  • @Ilovemysketch I got nothing against the race or whatever, but I did not like Noah as Aang. Aang's supposed to be goofy and fun-loving, and Noah acted too serious, and it seemed as though he never even grinned.

  • they new damn well what they were doing. If people don't see it they are seriously in denial.

  • i'm from spain can you translate this please? thanks! ( i don't like the actors)¬¬

  • no asians! Boring..... Sorry

  • haha it's ironic because the only clearly white people in the show ARE the head firebenders. u look me in the eye (or print) and tell me that Zuko, Azula, Jao (or however u spell that) and Ozai arent white.

  • @MrBigblack62 They aren't white. Look at their names and facial features. I hope that you were joking. They all have thin, slanting eyes and and most have wide, upturned noses.

  • race truly didn’t make a difference to people, if they didn’t ‘see’ it, then there would not be such an uproar over the chosen cast, one way or the other.

  • 1 of 2 ...the entire fire nation aren't villains...and I really don't think its some conspiracy to cast people who are 'non-Caucasian' as 'villains'...pretty sure that if that's what you mean, you are reading way too far into it. However, I kind of wtf at the language they used there..that's strange, and doesn't sound right at all. I definitely think they should have cast more Asians/various other ethnicities than they did as well, but if

  • @Shimiruu no, they shud have had ONLY asian cast. there are many different cultures in asia with different skintones and features to choose from. it s like they think we are the dumbest ppl alive, that we ll just bend over and accept whatever crack they shove up our asses! think again babylon! shit! asians need to fucking stand up for themselves more! u guys will bend over for anyone dammit, money isnt fucking everything! if u dont watch out your cultures will be raped too

  • @smukase just because they didn't choose an ENTIRELY Asian cast, doesn't mean their is anything wrong with Asian's intelligence and that they want to rape your culture--I see no evidence of this whatsoever. Yes, people need to stand up to racism, I agree to that part--it's something that of course needs to be addressed for the good of the world--but because one stupid movie didn't cast in a way that we deem to be correct & fair doesn't mean the end of the world itself. There are more powerful

  • @Shimiruu stop trying to be so politically correct, they are clearly way ahead of u in that. u are only allowing for things like these to take place by ignoring them. there r many other movies and shows where this always happens. btw i didnt say there s anything wrong with asian intelligence, i just think they will bend over for money too easily. that s why a lot of asians remain quiet about everything! jsut mark my words, u ll see what will happen when the shit hits the fan

  • Hey, people are dying because of murder, drug abuse, war, famine, disease and many other terrible things. The Last Airbender, though a terrible film, didn't harm anyone. Quit your bitching and focus on something important.

  • I don't know if anyone of you remembers but the fire, air and earth nation were Asian people. They were all Asian people except the water nation. So, the conclusion is that i can't see anything which seems to be racist. Where is the racism?

  • all i can say is; "it is really their right to make their movie the way they want it to be. if anybody have problems with that then simply do not watch it or make your own movie.. oh and i'm asian, basically the racist are the one's who make a big deal out of it. so whit if the heros are all white,, don't really care, it doesn't offend me at all if the bad guy is the one who is asian, it's a freakin movie for 'C' sake! it's their movie, they make it just the way they want it to be,. case close!

  • @crausbones They can't make their own movie because paramount bought the rights to avatar. A lot of people say they are of a certain race when they discriminate and even if its true, does that really make it okay. Furthermore, avatar is a depiction of asian mythology just as Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a depiction of Anglo-Saxon mythology. Just think if Aragorn was played by a black guy. A lot of Tolkien fans would have been pissed. You may shut your eyes to racism but its still there.

  • @crausbones u dont have to be a racist to give a shit about your culture. just kno that when u start wavering every little thing off like it s nothing, when the big problems start u wont be able to say a fuckin shit anymore. they r trying to wipe out cultures by hiding it behind that "unity" crap and that they dont care about race but they do! they r the real racists! they r promoting european caucasians everywhere so how is that not biased and racist?

  • I didn't see the movie and paid attention to the race complaints just in passing. Didn't know they were so blatant as to request caucasian heros and darker skinned villians. You would think in 2009 that people would realize how these types of lop sided images effect children.

  • SOKKA AND KATARA ARE BLACK!!!!! Stupid casting morons!!! and Zuko is supposed to be freaking pale!!!!!

  • just trying to show the seperation of people and culture. carebears look to deep into this shit.

  • I personally think this movie sucked but I dont think M Night is racist I just think hes extremely stupid. I thought it was impossible for him to ruin this movie but woww he is just reallly dumb

  • because M night is a fing racist thats why

  • idk but maybe becuz they look like they have tain

  • I don't under why so many people complain how the applicants for the fire nation were favored. They had dark skinned people playing the villains! How on Earth is that a favor? Make someone with pale skin dark, uproar. Make someone dark lighter skinned, less commotion.

  • This is why you need independent films, studios & directors etc. Look at Tyler Perry. he built his own studio, production company and makes movies HE WANTS to make period. Hollywood has an Asian fetish where the "white hero" always wins over the evil non-white villain(s). If they cast Harry Potter and his friends as Indians you would have a fit!

  • girl stfu... they wanted water=white, fire=towel heads, earth and air an asian type, to me that makes sense... i mean, who likes towel heads?

  • @omnismash "towel heads" really.....ur racist as a fuckin confederate hick

  • yes is very racist and especially since they dont look white at all in the cartoons.

  • When you put it like that it really sounds racist.

  • so immature. you silly people, if someones supposed to be middle eastern, you dont cast and irish girl with red hair. YOU CAST A MIDDLE EASTERN. so not all the cast members have the same complexion, but theyre faces looks pretty darn close. so their skin may be a couple shades lighter or darker. for crying out loud, look at zuko! the animation is white as can be! but he has darker skin. it doesnt matter. in the end, itll ba great movie.

  • wow thats real fucked up >_>

  • And youre the ones fueling the racism. "Oh, the bad guys have dark complexions...IT MUST BE BECAUSE THE DIRECTOR HATES NON-WHITES! (like himself).

Because it cant possibly be a creative choice can it? No. Must be race. I think we need to stop focusing on this shit and start focusing on getting racism out of schools.

  • @six6sixpounder Just because M. Night is brown does not make him any less discriminatory.

  • @maipai101 It does when its talking about skin colour, not race. To quote the video "While the villans should be cast with dark complexions". This means they think M Night associates non white skin with villans, so if he has non white skin that makes no sense.

  • You do realize the director is not white right? lol, there is no racism going on, you're just an idiot.

  • Im maori (Native from New Zealand), meaning I'm not white, and I dont give a flying fuck. Seriously. M night isnt caucasian and he helped cast all the people for fuck sake. I think they did a decent job, half the people look like their cartoon counterparts. And then youre all forgetting WHY anime exists: Originaly so Asia could hav non Asian's in the series, hence the big eyes. So theyre all technicaly non-asian. People wont take race seriously if you pick such stupid reasons for speaking out

  • @six6sixpounder Oh, yeah, because the media so doesn't affect people whatsoever. Search YouTube using "kids see race" and watch the third or fourth video from CNN. Yeah, those kids totally are saying those things on purpose.

And damn Asia for their unrealistic cartoons! How dare they not draw Asian people realistically! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch The Simpsons, my favorite show about yellow-skinned white people.

  • @PUFFYsaidgo It's not a question of realism, THATS WHY ANIME WAS INVENTED! Simpsons are irrelevant, bringing that up is pointless. All im saying is dont sweat the small shit. If we make a big deal about "possible" race issues in this film that in most peoples opinions are very mild if not non exsistent then they wont take real issues seriously (like the villifcation of coloured people in schools, etc) The last airbender was a horrible film anyway.

  • @six6sixpounder but the real question is, do you give a grounding fuck?

  • @AktiebolagetAB I do...about real issues. Saying that he cast the fire nation people non-caucasians to show caucasians as heros is stupid.

    A) Dev Patel's character can be considered a hero later in the series

    B) Once DEv becomes a fire nation ddude, all from the fire nation HAVE to look like him, as the characters in the series all look alike.

Once again I bring up the point that the people who you claim are effected by this racism are Asian, LIKE THE DIRECTOR! Does he hate his own people? no

  • Aang is happy in the original series.

Aang is serious and dumb faced.

Stupid casting how does it work?

  • why make such a big deal about this. i dont even give a damn, and im part native american, one ethnicity that has nearly been eradicated; even more than the jews.

  • lol I thought it didn't matter at first but you know a little kid IS gonna say...

"Why's he white?" XD Kid's are gonna be blunt.

  • "Caucasian OR ANY OTHER ETHNICITY" <---Enough said stop complaining you race baiter's!

  • @SiY11 If you knew anything about casting (which I can assure you, we DO), the casting call was prioritizing Caucasians over other ethnicities. Casting agents, when asked abotu it, said that when a casting call reads like this, they don't even bother calling their non-Caucasian clients because the casting specifically REQUESTED Caucasian actors.

No one's 'baiting'; it's right there.

  • People are people. Just love each other. It shouldn't be a big deal if someone has darker or lighter skin than another person.

  • @ThePsh07 It really shouldn't matter, but it really still does. Until all casting calls go out without mentioning race at all then being colour blind while only casting the characters that aren't white simply cannot be condoned. This isn't complaining that roles that have been historically white aren't being cast with actors of colour, which they aren't btw, but that Asian heroes are being cast with white actors and Asian villains aren't. It's a massive double standard and not buddies.

  • @ThePsh07 Glossing over racial inequality in media representation with such talk, while pretty, is NOT going to improve conditions. The characters were ethnically Asians and Inuit in the series and that was not reflected in the film. And given how rare a chance it is to have lead roles written for Asian actors, this is especially insulting and disappointing.

  • The only non-whites in this movie are the Villains. Coincidence? I think Not.

This and the Dragon Ball Z remake were both Fails. The director and writers couldn't have made the storyline any worse than it was. Even the fighting was horrible.

  • @IWantMyVisionBack

Not Dragon Ball Z, it was a dragon ball live action.... which makes it even worst i think

  • @RogueMichelle well in dragonball z the villains are all aliens to begin with so they dont matter to me picollo looked find in the movie. some of the heroes thoguh not so much they could have easily have chosen wu jing for goku but instead they went with a white guy who doesnt have any martial arts training other than for the action seuqences in this movie.when it would have been true to the anime if goku was asian but thats just me people say since he was a saiyan he could have been any race.

  • @hostelowner

Yea, I know... I am just saying that it was a Dragon Ball Live action, yet forget the casting, they left out major characters, changed the ages drastically..... put him in school?! He wasnt suppose to met anyone outside his grandpa till bulma was looking for dragon balls. They tried to hard to modernize it. I agree with you Goku should have been Asian, even if he was an alien he was designed to be asian, Very few Asians (even now) like Foreigners. they wouldnt make one a lead

  • Caucasian or any other ethnicity

the most inclusive request would be simply ANY ETHNICITY

with the show's overwhelming eastern influence, it would have made more sense to say ASIAN -- or any other ethnicity

instead, it is CAUCASIAN -- or any other ethnicity

  • It's not about being racism, it's about Terrible terrible terrible casting! Period!!!

  • I went to the premier of this as a part of trolling of being the people from the Avatar movie. We lol'd at how terrible the actors were, they must have spent all their budget on special effects.

  • THis is the most diverse movie made in America though

    so BAM

  • @billmaster17 If by diverse you mean there are tons of people of color, but just not the three heroes who get to have top billing.

  • well i did think that is a little bit racist cause for example katara and sokka look at the actors and compare them with the original caracters the fact is that they should be dark skin and aang should be asian ther were a lot of asian casting with way betters skills that this noah ringer but like always everything has to be white in hollywood im going to see the movie anyways..shame on you shamalan or whatever you should be supporting bros... you are dark skin too bicth

  • the movie sucked anyways

  • @billmaster17 3 white people who played leads that were supposed to be Asian anyways, seriously two of the darkest characters are changed to be white, can't deny fact, So its racist to say that only minorities can only get minority roles right, its stupid to say that whites can play minority roles, that is a fact.

  • @billmaster17 yeah........ JUST THE three principals...:( RACIST CAST

  • @billmaster17 hahahahahahah ONLY 3? GTFO you're a fanboy, REALLY drunk, blind, racist, and worse i fucked your mom.

  • @lightbrightshaymin k then

  • sorry, thats not their color on the show, but it wasnt a racial discrimination to make the villain have darker skin

  • @TheFantasticFesta katara and sokka are not white in the show take a look dude

  • quit bitchin, they picked white people because they were white on the tv show, once zuko was a cast as dev patel he had to match the ethnicity of the nation he came from or so they cast other people of that color , quit trying to bring up racial issues

  • @TheFantasticFesta look hypocrite, you need you damn eyes checked the ones in the show weren't fucking white you're just exposing how truly racist you are and how much you dont care about other races GTFO fantard.

  • This film is not racist. How can people make these assumptions based on past films

  • @215Ravenous The copious amounts of examples from Hollywood history serve to support the fact that Hollywood marginalizes people of color, for example, Asian-Americans in 21 and Breakfast at Tiffany's. There are myriads of examples of White actors being given White and ambiguous roles *as well as* explicitly minority ones, with little or no examples of the contrary to prove an equality in casting. Hollywood hasn't changed from its racist past, these examples show.

  • @ladyllama true that this film is not racist. These people are deluded

  • @LadyLlamaa Why shouldn't people care about Whitewashing and cultural appropriation?

  • @thephieffect People should care about things like that, but that isn't happening here. I'm not even white and I think this is bull shit.

  • @LadyLlamaa In what ways are the arguments presented in the video and from myself and others incorrect in their assessment of this movie as an clear example of cultural appropriation and Whitewashing?

  • Seriously, who gives a shit?

  • @LadyLlamaa I GUESS YOU DONT CAUSE YOU ARE NOT A MINORITY BUT THEY ARE PEOPLE THAT DO THIS SHIT GOT TO STOP SERIOULY DUDE

  • @LadyLlamaa people who are minorities and know what its like to be treated unfairly because of their race, culture, or religion, not over privileged white bastards like yourself.

  • @lightbrightshaymin First of all, I'm not even white, smart ass.

And second, you're a hypocrite. You're calling the people that casted this movie racist while you sit there calling white people over privileged bastards.

    ....Cunt waffle.

I will not be replying to your next message. It's clearly a waste of time arguing with an ignorant dick like you. Have a good life :)

  • @LadyLlamaa who the fuck are you??? your late to comment i dont even remember what i typed to you fuck off i was enjoying something called a life.

  • The Music Industry is the same way.

  • This chick can't read for shit, it says or any other ethnicity. Do you fucking know what ethnicity is, dumbass? This complaint these stupid asses are trying to spread makes no sense what so ever, and it wasn't even taken seriously, because of lack of intellectual claims.

  • @eathenicus The casting call lists "Caucasian or any other ethnicity." The way it is worded means that they are looking primarily for White actors, and will give some consideration to minority applicants. Had the production been looking for ethnicities of all kinds, the casting call would have listed "All ethnicities welcome." There is no reason why White actors should be singled out with this specific wording when White actors are the majority in Hollywood. It betrays a bias.

  • @thephieffect About 75 to 79.8% of the US Population is White American (Caucasian), and why not list what's dominant first? I'm sure Japan does this shit a lot for their movies, because the majority of all their movies are nothing but Japanese actors, even if they're playing roles that was fitted for a minority.

    Fact.

Look up "White American" on Wikipedia, and check the right hand corner for the population percentage in the US, then find the reference link. It links to the US Census 08.

  • @eathenicus (2) Japan's film industry is beside the point, imo. This situation is in an American context, and we should avoid bringing in examples from circumstances removed from the American one.

That being said, America prides itself on being diverse and doing things differently than the Old World. With American values, is it okay for a White actor to play the role of an unambiguously minority character? Many people would simply say no.

  • @eathenicus /Post didn't go through.

Why would you separate the norm or the majority from a grouping that covers everything? If anything, you'd list the minorities. If White is the majority, then a majority of such actors are going to attend a generic casting call. You'd list out minorities because you'd be afraid that they wouldn't show up. But the sheet specified White actors, while clumping everyone else into "any other ethnicity." Is it a surprise they hired/got the race that they specified?

  • @eathenicus (2) Do you have a good reason why Caucasian would be separated from "any other ethnicity" when White actors would be included under the heading of "any ethnicity?" The way the call is written is too specific to be a general call for all ethnicities. Casting agents from the industry have stated as such when asked.

  • @thephieffect Dude, again for your second comment, the United States is predominately filled with White Americans, and this has been the case for centuries now. I'm sure 'Eastern Asian' actors arrived at the auditions, which weren't on the Internet, by the way, and they weren't picked the role. Dude, the Entertainment Industry is a competitive industry, and since it's primarily based off looks and direction there's nothing anybody can do about it.

  • @eathenicus (3) Regarding your second comment, casting agents would not have sent their minority clients to the auditions with this written preference for White actors. I would think races out of the norm, i.e. not White, would be specified, because, again, White is the majority. They're bound to show up if given an open call, but that's not the case with minorities.

  • @eathenicus (4) I know that the entertainment industry is competitive and based on looks. I believe that this production discriminated against Asian-American and Inuit actors simply because they weren't mainstream enough. Being excluded from these auditions and from the lead roles, Asian-Americans and Inuits in this movie were sent to the sidelines while their cultures and three very White heroes took center stage. That's cultural appropriation and marginalization of minorities.

  • @eathenicus (5) Hollywood has a long history of appropriating Asian and Inuit cultures while never giving Asian-American or Inuit actors the lead roles, even in those films where their cultures are being used. White actors are always used in the minorities' stead; that certainly has racist implications.

  • @thephieffect Also,

I felt that this film was very multi-cultural compared to the other films out there, I see nothing wrong with this film's casting. Each Nation represented a different ethnic group, and since this is Book 1, not a lot of the other nations were seen. I do believe there were cuts, but I blame Paramount for that.

  • @eathenicus (6) I feel this movie is inconsistent in its portrayal of race and ethnicity.

Avatar was different from most fantasies in that it was purposefully depicting only the ethnicities of Asia and the Inuit. It showed, accurately and respectfully, a multitude of unique Asian and Inuit cultures. It made no secret of being a world of a singular race. Its diversity was in its depictions of many ethnic groups that exist in Asia and the Inuit.

  • @eathenicus (7) The TLA production, for reasons unfathomable to me, decided to add one! White population and one! Black population, with every other population being Asian (except for the Italians who got stuck in the Fire Nation because the Fire Nation is now the only dark-skinned nation.). The tokenism should be apparent. Why is the Southern Water Tribe Inuit while its sister tribe is White? How did that singular Black community come to exist in the Earth Kingdom?

  • @eathenicus (8) Why is everyone else still Asian and Inuit?

The White and Black people in the movie have no reason to be there. They have no cultural ties to a world that was specifically designed as a pan-Asian and Inuit world.

  • @eathenicus (9) Add that to the fact that all three heroes are played by White actors who live in a pan-Asian world, have non-White names, perform Chinese martial arts, wear Asian clothes, use chopsticks, write in Chinese... etc., and it's already a pretty strong case for cultural appropriation and marginalization of minorities.

Mind, that's probably the tip of the iceberg for racial problems with this film. I can get into those if you need more convincing.

  • @eathenicus (10) Had this production done a little more critical thinking, maybe they would have realized how the relationships of the nations in TLA look after the injection of extraneous races.

The entirely dark-skinned Fire Nation, which is undeniably villainous in this movie, is waging genocidal war against the Asian and Inuit populated neighbor nations (and the singular White and Black communities).

  • @eathenicus (11) The White NWT is richer and better off than its Inuit sister tribe, which by the looks of it is dirt poor and without its men.

The White Avatar and his White companions are on a voyage to save the Asian nations from the dark-skinned Fire Nation.

It takes a speech from the White Avatar to make the Asian Earth Village dwellers remember that they're being kept prisoner by FN soldiers on land... and that they can earthbend.

  • @eathenicus (12) Really? It takes a 12-year-old White kid to remind Asian Earthbenders that the weapon only they can use *is right under their feet?*

This film was never a poster-child for diversity. By straying from the source material and adding races, it was diverse in the sense that there were more races than before. It lost, though, the multitudes of unique Asian and Inuit ethnicities that this world was created for. It also created an astounding amount of racial insensitivities.
