The Performa 410 was my very first computer ever. Mine still works and is connected in the living room. Never got it online, but it was still good for essays, printshop deluxe, and games.
antisocialweb got it right... This isn't unique. Apple was notorious for slapping new name tags to existing LC series machines to suit retailers and the education sector. The best LC's were those based on the LCIII... I had many LC's, and LC-based Performas, including a 475 upgraded to an integrated-FPU 040 (non-LC).
I got a performa 476 and it looks just like yours. It has a 1gig hard drive and system 7.5.1. It also has a stereo sound card unlike most of them i'll make a video soon of it.
I had this computer...slow as a snail, even for back then. I remember trying to play star wars rebel assault on it and I would have to shut down all the extensions and reduce the screen size to where it was like 3 inches wide just to get the procceser to speed up so It would have animation.
hi, your vids are cool, check out my channel. also, do you know how long the performa 400 was manufactured?, i bought one at a flea market for about 5$, and got it working for my collection, and i cant find out all of the info
Here: Came out September '92 Discontinued October '93 CPU: Moterola 68030 @ 16 MHz Cache 0.25k System Bus: 16 MHz HD: 80-120 8.8 lbs. Origional OS: 7.0.1 Maximum OS: 7.5.5 Hope this helped!
If youre eBay savvy, go on there and go to Vintage PC's or Vintage Macs and go to "Sorty By" and select Highest Price first and you'll see some real old shit for a good but of money. Tandys for $500, the old Black MacTV thing (90's Mac with a TV tuner) is worth a good but of money.
i had one when i was like 4 and had it for a while. great machine, was a gift from a friend, and although thoroughly useless, it served as a great source of entertainment for my childhood
I just got a mac performa 450 a couple days ago. Had to get the monitor because it has the special monitor port thats not VGA so i got the monitor now but it is not apple brand. I got a joystick, keyboard, modem for dial up,now i will have to get the mouse yet but it does work good. It has a 120mb hard drive instead of 80mb and the ram has been upgraded but i have no clue yet how much it has.I think its 16mb.I will get a vid up but i don't have a mouse or the cable that connects keyboard to comp.
Sweet! I also had a joystick (a Gravis Mous Stick II), an Apple Color StyleWriter Pro (printer), and an Apple 600e CD drive on mine back when I used at as my main computer. (2001-03) It also had a Hayes Accura 14.4K modem on it. I still have all the stuff I just didn't get it all out when I made the video.
Yeah i think mine is the same joystick, i want to find a printer for it but its not that important right now. Yeah the modem lights up so i am pretty sure it works. I am hoping i will get the mouse and keyboard cable this week from the guy who gave me the computer. I really don't want to buy that stuff for this old computer. i will get a video up after i make sure i get the mouse and keyboard working. The keyboard works i just need the cable that connects it. I do have a cd drive too.
Flashback...I remember my very first computer was a Macintosh Performa 636CD. I loved it. I didn't stop using it until 1999 when there was absolutely nothing left that would run on a 68k processor running at 33 Mhz. That's great you have an Apple CRT that supports that ancient I/O.
I used the performa as my main computer until about 2003 when I got a Power Macintosh 5500. The 225Mhz PowerPC 603e and the 2GB hard drive were a BIG improvement over the 16Mhz 68030 and the 80MB hard drive the Performa had.
Gotta love those pizza boxes. My first Mac was a 476, virtually identical in appearance. They were easy to open, just pull on a couple of tabs at the back and you could see their innards.
I have a couple not so vintage Macintosh computers. I have a Power Macintosh G3 (266 desktop) that has been heavily upgraded and I use it almost daily. I also have a MacBook that I do my videos on.
What do you mean it is an LC 475??? This computer IS a Performa 410 and it is just the same as an LC II but came out a year later. It has nothing that matches the LC 475 in specs. The LC 475 is essentially a Quadra 605.
The LC II looked like the original LC, man. The LC III did too. The LC III+ and the 475 looked like the 410. it may be an LC II, just a different case design.
This computer is cute. I know it may sound strange, but it does.

Also, Performa "LC's" had cheaper floppy drives.

Thats awesome, especially since it's rare.
What version of 7.5 do you have on this thing? You can get the upgrade to 7.5.5 free from Apples FTP site.

Hi, can you get on the internet with your vintage Macintosh?
sketchyinc 3 years ago
Back when we had dial-up internet I could get it online but it was really slow.
macosx91 3 years ago
Why was it discontinued ?
Rdk3000 3 years ago
maybe because it was a prototype, or... a second thought.
Aquacat26 3 years ago
I don't know why it was discontinued. I think maybe it was because there were other models just like it with different names.

it's a Motorola 68k. The Performa line didn't use PowerPC processors until 1995.

Well, it looks like one, and I know it's a 410. I might have been mistaken.
jacobdallen 4 years ago
It's LC II based, has the "pizza box" form. I had an LC III for a couple weeks before I replaced it with a Power Mac G3.
