Let's pretend that there are 4 billion homes in the world and 6 billion people. Well, if the population goes up to 10 billion, we have to build 4 billion more homes, but if the population goes down to 4 billion, everyone gets a house plus some to spare for vacation homes...easier that way for the living people.
