who needs to plow the driveway when u got one of those babys! haha just do donuts on the road and the snow is clear! xD i wish we had r32 s here in canada...
The problem is that the R32 dont have a fixed 4WD. The R32 is a Frontwheeler with 4WD support. When u like to drift on dry roads u waste ur Haldex Clutch. Its the connection to ur 4WD. Thats the problem.
Really AWD is not designed for drifting? What do you think inspired the Japanese to go drifting? The WRC inspired drifting and they have been using AWD since the early 80's. Granted a drift isn't as easy with AWD, but it is a lot faster with AWD. Why don't you stop watching Fast and Furious and stop driving like NASCAR and learn how to turn right.
if you want drifting go with RWD cars. If you watch Fast and Furious carefully and read about it you will see that they all used RWD cars for drifting. Yes they converted AWD cars into RWD for just drifting only... I am not into drifting much.
That is because you probably assume that a true drift is initiated by the gas pedal or hand brake. Granted more horsepower does help maintain a drift, especially in a AWD car, but in once the drift is initiated the throttle is more or less used to control the drift by using minor changes in the amount of throttle used. The amount of throttle necessary to maintain a drift is entirely dependent on the amount of traction available, i.e. pavement, snow, gravel, dirt, RWD, AWD. If you need full...
...throttle you are not drifting. If you are a doing donuts you are not drifting. In a drift you should be able to make minor changes in the amount of throttle being applied in order to alter the cars direction. If you need full throttle to drift you loose this ability because lifting off the throttle will cause you to stop drifting because there isn't enough power to spin the tires. If you require full throttle in order to drift it is because you are not going fast enough.
The DSG wouldn't have that much of difference if you put in manual mode and ignored the auto and sport modes. Not being able fully turn off stability control would prevent the R32 from executing big drifts. No one had mentioned it & I hadn't thought of it. In one of my autocrosses I had my GTI's rear tire pressure wrong & was getting really sideways under braking entering some of the corners. One corner, I was sideways, but pointed in the right direction to exit. ESP was off, but still said NO.
hey if you werent such a dumbass then you would actually know that drifting began in in the 60s 13 years before WRC began. so really in the end WRC was inspired by drifting and also the first 2 fast furious movies were about straight line speed. so think about what you say cause you sound like a dousch.
I stand corrected, although you could have corrected me without throwing around insults. All the insults did was discredit yourself. Although the drivers in the 60s did not "drift" for fun or style. Using four wheel drifts in the early days of motor sport was more of necessity due to a lack of cornering traction because of the usage of bias ply tires and a lack of aerodynamic aids that create downforce.
The lack of good traction for cornering required the drivers to maintain as much cornering speed as possible and to get the car pointed straight as early as possible when entering a straightaway. If the driver puts the car into a 4 wheel drift when cornering the car will be pointed in the correct direction on corner exit much sooner, which allows the driver to get into the throttle earlier which results in much higher speeds at all points of the straightaway.
That being said it was more of a basic necessity of all forms racing technique back in the day. It also requires a great deal of skill to perform the same feat on many different corners, knowing exactly how far the rear end of the car should rotate around the front end in order to achieve the optimum direction upon corner exit. Due to the relative lack of traction on most of the WRC courses today the drift technique is still used today in that series, as well as some others.
@runnermatt wow... shut the hell up. If you go to a drift competion with an AWD they will NOT let you in. It is too easy to drift and it is just not drifting. AWD is designed for offroading... not drifting. If you drift with an AWD then you just fail... because all it is, is sliding with style. RWD drifting is actually a skill that you have to master.
@undergrounddude01 Wow, I mention politeness to philly624, who was polite enough to apologize and you go and start your post like that. Judging from you channel you get all your automotive info from "F&F Tokyo Drift" and video games. How about you view my channel and learn that I actually know how to drive. Or how about you just read through the rest of my comments on this video. Or just go graduate High School. And two days to put a push bar on a charger, I put them on Crown Vics in 2 hours.
@runnermatt Ok asshole... I dont get all my info on cars from fake movies, and unrealistic video games. And it didnt take me 2 days to put a brush guard on a charger. It took me 2 and a half hours. It was our first time doing it and there is more to take off than the Crown Vic. Dont be a dick about it. What I said is a fact. Only sliding with a RWD is considered drifting. You need a touch up on your... as you say... Automotive info. Oh... Also you dont need to be judging anyone you dick
@undergrounddude01 Again throwing out the insults like the immature teenager you are. If it only took you 2.5 half hours to install the brush guard on the charger then how come it is so obvious that the sun passes over head and sets during your entire video. DRIFTING IS EASIER IN A REAR WHEEL DRIVE CAR!!! An actual drift, if you knew what drifting was is much more difficult to intiate and properly sustain in a AWD car. You probably think the hand brake the only way to start a drift too.
@ undergrounddude01 Oh and ask any off-roader. AWD is not for off-roading. Try taking a Honda CR-V off road with its AWD system off road. 4X4 is for off-roading. And yes there is a difference between AWD and 4X4. If you don't know what it is it just proves how little you actually know about cars.
Great car
Is this a DSG or manual?

Just wondering but, on dry roads, is it possible to drift with the R32 without using the handbrake?
carsaregood911 2 years ago
It is possible but very hard to do. AWD is not designed for drifting...
r32breeze 2 years ago
That's correct, I was just wondering because with the Evo X for example it's much more easier I believe. Thanks.

@runnermatt A awd car with less the 300 hp and less than 300 foot pounds of torque will have trouble drifing

Ok i should have said a stock R32 would have the hardest time drifting if it could even drift at all with them all being DSG in America!
