too much co2 on the planet is a hoax. regulation = reveneu=irs=fed reserve=banks
if you want to change the sys either vote for Ron Paul or stop giving the banks anymore money. if we all stop paying the banks money they will go away! all problems solved, literally
Rememeber this: Building codes are capitalistic in nature. They came into use to protect the martogage and insurance companies. Never be dupped into believing that they were implemented to protect the common citizen. I learned this after serving on the building code developmental commitee. I am still a member but I gave up trying to limit the range of their bogus design rules. Again the rules are to protect the motgage and the insurance companies.
The switch from dependent to independent lifestyle is inevitable. Time is cyclic and as a species we are on the verge of making one big switch. All it takes is a spark to ignite a fire. People are becoming more and more tired of emptiness every day and no matter how hard some try to stop the natural progression of the world, they cannot. The biggest man that you ever did see was once a baby.
The regulators don't want to allow people to become self sufficient on anything because at every single level of society where money changes hands, we are taxed. The money goes to feed the machinery that keeps the population dependent and under control. It keeps us all in our little mouse wheels, running as hard as we can until we die.
Earthships would be a huge problem for the system because the people in them would be a good deal closer to being free. Free people cause trouble for the system.
2. As a condo owner, I can only hope to become free to a limited degree. I paid off my credit cards and now my only remaining debt is 22k on my mortgage. I'm knocking a thousand a month off the total these days. Even when that's gone though, I'll still be dependent on city water, sewage, power, trash pickup, groceries, gas, diesel. I'll need to work harder to buy all that. The income I work for will be taxed, the gas will be taxed on the way to the store and I'll pay sales tax on the purchases.
3. I can understand why large numbers of people building earthships & becoming more self sufficient scares the hell out of every level of government. Once those people decouple from the grid and start producing more of their own needs with their own tax free labor, the tax revenue would decrease dramatically. Every egg you take out of your hen house takes real money away from their system. So it's not just closed mindedness that makes them refuse the permits. They have a real reason, MONEY.
@vention4wh --- If you own any property in the USA you are still in debt and slave to the system. Property taxes and you can add condo fees. My dad called property taxes the rent you must pay the govrnment to live on or in your own property. The inside can be very livable and nice but the outside must look like a shack to get lower taxes. Also a portable obode can reduce govrent to a fraction.
Indeed, you're right. I still pay (125 a month) property tax and my (297 a month) condo fee. Still those expenses are way lower than I'd pay if I owned a house in this area. The condo fee includes, water sewer garbage maintenance and a few other things. In the year since I made the above comments I pulled out all the stops, lived ultra frugal and pounded that mortgage to zero. Now If I work no overtime I still have about 2600 a month extra after all my expenses are paid.
Condo life has reduced my expenses and my tax footprint as opposed to owning a house of the same square footage in this area. Now I'm saving up for 10 or 15 acres of rural real estate. I also like the idea of a mobile abode (a 5th wheel perhaps). Then the only improvements I'd need to make would be an RV pad, well and septic. That would keep the taxes on that property ultra low.
to view the map go to the earthship website slash pockets-of-freedom
