oh man.. this makes me wanna play it again :'( such an amazing game rly - i loved the landscapes and the dungeons and the battles and the story, just everything about it. i rly need to play it again!
don't take me saying "shut the fuck up" as a negative thing it's the vulgar version of "get out of here" i'm behind what you said 100% sir....also if "get out of here" isn't in your dictionary of sayings then try "no way, really!?"...i really gotta be more clear with my responses lol...but if i said "you're right" out of the box it wouldn't have been as entertaining
@demonzetsumei shut the fuck up!!...really man i prayed for them to make a sixth i hated dragon quarter i grew up on this series and it broke my heart when i played the 5th one...2 and 3 are my favourites for sure
My buddy and I fired up Breath of Fire 1 for the first time in many years about a month ago. We're working our way through this classic again, and man, it's priceless. I personally love the forest track from 4:12 - 5:19, and the battle music at 5:20 - 6:03. I'm in the same boat as CrazySquirrelXD - I've always loved BoF 1-4, but never got into 5 since they killed it.
I never will forget playing this game for the first time in 1995. It was absolutely, spectacular. This game has always been, and always will be very underrated. Just the music alone makes me want to play through this gem, all over again. Capcom did a great job with what was possibly their first ever RPG. It had such a special feel to it, and that feeling will linger on in the minds of all fans of the SNES RPG era.
Tyr was the name of the god of justice in the Forgotten Realms D&D setting far before this game, which makes it a strange sight to those of us who recognize the name from that source. When I think of Tyr, it conjures the image of a firm but fair god of good moral standing. The name Tyr is a common name for gods throughout fictional works, however. Just a little random and barely related babble for you!
I like this game alot, loved that there was a item you could take so the enemies would leave you alone for a min or 2 while traveling ^^ 5/5 for the vid :)
Man, this sure takes me back! I remember sitting in the basement and playing this before I was even in school. Ah..those were great times, care-free, fun, and CHOCK FULL OF BREATH OF FIRE 1 AND 2. :D
I still replay them to this day. :3 Only BoF I haven't played is 5..but that's 'cause they changed EVERYTHING. ...bof2 ftw
@CrazySquirrelXD I personally like 1 a bit more then 2. 1 was a bit more of a standard rpg, but at the same time it felt more consistant. 2 was also great, but I kept feeling like they were trying to find their own style etc a bit to much still and the heros were not as fun imho. BoF3 is my all time favorite rpg tho. They nailed everything: Great cast, good story, feeling of exploration and adventure and lots and lots of secrets and little details and the art style is also great.
Again, this was a game I played just to walk the characters around. I specifically remember thinking it was sooo cool that the characters could take fruit out of bowls in houses, and I think they could take fish too. Haha, the things that stay with you.
The part where the music starts in 1:25.... I've heard it somewhere else.... I didn't even know it was from this game until now... great, now it's going to bug me for a while. =P
Great music tracks by the way. Keep up the good work.

Only played the second game, but I absolutely loved it. I'm gonna have to go back and play the first (and the later sequels) one of these days.

I've just been going through the playlist one by one, and I was beginning to wonder when the Breath of Fire series was going to appear on here.
After listening, I think I've been inspired to start a new game. XD

I've never beaten this game. I tried a couple times to get back into it but I just can't. Anyway, the track at 4:12 is so damn cool.

They showed Ted Woolsey's name twice during the creds.

Ted Woolsey messed up my name =(
Myriachan 2 years ago
I don't understand. =)
QuilEkras 2 years ago
Ted Woolsey arbitrarily changed the name "Myria" to "Tyr". Capcom fixed the name in BOF2 and 3.
Myriachan 2 years ago
I think 'Tyr' sounds more evil than 'Myria' anyway xD
PokemonGod93 2 years ago
@Myriachan
The funnhy thing is Tyr is a male deity IIRC. XD
Timsonourside 1 year ago
@Timsonourside
Yep, Norse god (not goddess!) of victory and glory. His name is the root of the English word Tuesday.
Sad that Ted Woolsey couldn't stop at ruining Square games and had to intrude upon Capcom as well.
