i'm confused on how a 223 can go through, while a 30.06 can't? will the plate crack into fragments with 223 and bend with a 30.06? because even though a 30.06 has more joules, the 223 travels much faster? i'm not really sure if a 223 has more joules than a 30.06 but i'd love some clarification if you'd be so kind.
Why does everyone feel the need to cus? If you think airsoft is weak fine it's a free country and I don't need your approval but at least be mature about it. Keep it clean, it will get you farther in life.
@gunsforever1. When I use carriers in airsoft I use plastic plates it gives the looks, wear, and protection needed without the weight. And most of the guys I play with are either in the military, wish they could but got turned down, or are retired so pull your head out of your butt (thus isn't to you guns, I just can't remember the other guys name)
@RobWarrens it's obviously not rifle rated if a 223 will zip through....i got .25 inch steel plates that use AR500 steel, and i've seen that shit stop 2 shots from a .338 lapua magnum at about 40 yrds even after being shot around with 5.56 "armor piercing" green tips (did nothing), M80 ball "308" (did nothing) and even throwing 12 gauge slugs at it.... it's indestructible practically. The ones that i have though i wouldn't want to be shot by anything above a 30-06 M2 AP rounds (black tips)
i like to think i know some stuff about bullets and this guy is saying that a tinny little .223 hits harder that a 30.06 the .223 is an intermediate cartridge and this guy is telling me it hits harder that the 30.06 when the 30.06 is a rifle cartridge just a thought
@GearBuyersGuide that's not a fair comparison, besides if you do the math the areal energy density for the 30-06 is still higher than the .223. Look at the M2 AP, it's a 30-06 and it out penetrates it's 5.56 AP counterpart. And you mentioned that steel has an advantage in that it's thinner than ceramic, but don't you still need a trauma plate backing if you don't want to get seriously jacked up after getting shot?
@GUNSFOREVER1 Jerk,jerk,jerk-Oh yeah-almost there, wanna be military but I don't wanna raise my right hand and get sworn in,so I'll just jerk it and play airsoft.
joke? in fact there is some... but "only" IIIA-level (9mm or .44mag) :) really I saw a "hockey-style" smooth profile mask and also in the military there is a facial armour visor atachable to the helmet - test with .44 mag is on youtube: watch?v=URcKpNqPIfY
to take upwards of 30 hits realistly 10-20 thou the m855 and xm109 and any steel core 7.62 inside of 25 yards will punch straight through this 90% of the time outside of 50 yards those rounds prob penetrate 25% at 75-100+ yards it should stop it the 7.62 tungsten core round will punch through no matter waer you are your dead if that hits you these figures should be pretty accurate this is based on what ive seen different plates could always produce diff results + enviroment ect
first of all anybody wearing a steel plate into battle should be advised to make themsevles a spall guard fragments have a tendancy to shoot strait up r down after a hit take a new or older kevlar panel and wrap it around the plate i would say use at minimum 10 layers then wrap duct tape over the kevlar to hold it in place also wear a yoke collar with throat protection this should take care of most probs involved with using steel as long as it aint ap or m855 rounds it should be able
hmmm ... i think if these plates had about 6 or 10 layers of kevlar laminated over the face they would be perfect , it sure would stop the bullet splatter from hitting the lower part of your face and some parts of the neck . hehe i need to order me some
Are you the guys from gunwebsites? If so, what's up?!... I'm buying some plates in a few days here, I was wondering where I can get a size small carrier, preferably concealable. Not on ebay D:!!
Does having the velcro at the bottom ever present a risk of the plates falling out after getting hit or moving a lot? I can't really tell how strong the velcro looks on the video.
Good qurestion, it's super strong now, but after getting old or abused it might not be as strong, time will tell, but we don't plan to do a stress test on this gear...yet
LOL, just checked out his other vids, it is him!

@anticannoneer
think dart vs hammer
a dart can poke a hole with less mass, while a hammer can make a large dent but not pierce the material
GearBuyersGuide 8 months ago
steel plate has an advantage ceramic doesn't. It can serve as an impromptu skillet and a serving plate =) All you need to add is a spork to the vest.

if a .223 can punch through it, then I wouldn't even use it for combat. It could be used for handguns but thats about it.

@TheHunterHatfield It's called milsim=Military simulation in which players play realistically as possible.
