  • Unfortuntely he kind of sucks live, or so it seems. I hate to say it because I listen to the album 24/7, but live, uhm, its all kind of boring. :(

  • i see a beautiful man.

  • Do you post this on every single Oldham video?

  • Why are you coming to every Will Oldham video and posting the same fucking thing, PAULLONDEN? You're plain boring.

  • Valid point, Questpeace. I just started listening to BPB; so far I like it a lot. Sometimes listening to dark music feels good. You can revel in the darkness. But too much just makes me depressed. What do you think? Dark music: cathartic or depressing? Discuss. (Cofee talk)

  • too bad I can't spell the word coffee

  • mhm. + and + is +. so thats cool.

    but + and - is -.

    so:

if you are depressed, you are -

so, you have to listen to - music (negative). and then, oh wonderful world, it's +

i get REALLY pissed when i have to listen to ska/reggea smthing...

  • If we're just talking about this song then it's not as dark as I could see him go. I mean second verse is very not-depressing, especially ending on "My best unbeaten brother/This isn't all I see" giving an almost new meaning to the end chorus. He likes the subtle stuff.

  • @dantgood

sometimes it feels good to embrace the unforgiving parts of life

  • Actually, Questpeace, I can hardly think of a musician less likely to. Oldham is no Cobain or Curtis. As someone once commented he specialises in joyful songs about death and joyless ones about sex. He can be wilfully difficult and his quality control wavers but when he's on song his beauty is breathtaking and uplifting. This is one of the finest songs I have heard this millenium

  • I love this album. I've had it for years. This is my favorite song.

  • beautiful song, great voice

  • Looks like the sync is off.

  • ive been linsting to this song for years now in a clean recording, its earth moving

  • Brilliant! Thank you so much for posting

  • I love this song, it reminds me of late night drunken conversations with my good friend.

The duet of this song that will and johnny cash recorded is truly beautiful. Their voices and harmonies fit so perfectly.

    nice post.

  • He is a genius.

  • Thanks! Im SO in love with Will O !!

  • This old geezer sings more beautyful than Jeff Buckley !!

WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD OF HIM BEFORE ?

    Awesome thanks for sharing.

  • Hes not an old geezer. Will Oldham must be just in his late 30s. Also trying to compare him to Jeff Buckley...Thats like trying to compare a Studebaker vintage car to a push bike...Two seperate voices completely beautiful but very different in comparison...

  • first time hering this song! great lyrics so true

  • I love this. Thanks for posting.

  • it feels the song is growing on the singer too. what a calm. what an acceptance.

  • Great to see this. This song really sinks into the soul. Love it.

  • best ever!

  • Well, I hope that someday buddy

    We have peace in our lives;

    Together or apart,

    Alone or with our wives,

And we can stop our whoring,

    And pull the smiles inside,

    And light it up forever,

    And never go to sleep.

    My best unbeaten brother,

    This isn't all I see.

  • Well, I hope that someday buddy We have peace in our lives; Together or apart, Alone or with our wives, And we can stop our whoring, And pull the smiles inside, And light it up forever, And never go to sleep. My best unbeaten brother, This isn't all I see. (Oh) no, I see a darkness.
  • Well, I hope that someday buddy We have peace in our lives; Together or apart, Alone or with our wives, And we can stop our whoring, And pull the smiles inside, And light it up forever, And never go to sleep. My best unbeaten brother, This isn't all I see. Oh no, I see a darkness. Did you know how much I love you? Its a hope that somehow you, Can save me from this darkness.
  • Well, you're my friend, and can you see?

    Many times, we've been out drinking;

Many times we shared our thoughts.

But did you ever, ever notice, the kind of thoughts I got?

Well, you know I have a love; a love for everyone I know.

And you know I have a drive, to live I won't let go.

But can you see its opposition, comes rising up sometimes?

That its dreadful imposition, comes blacking in my mind?

  • this is one of the best Songs I have ever heard

    lyrics are so awesome

  • gettin' goosebumps

  • Best "I see a darkness" feed on YouTube. Awesome man; wish I were there.
