Im not dissing enyone here now, but basically what im getting from this video is that all you need is a basic drum loop and damn sexy sounding samples.
Throw in some sidechain, lots of delay and reverb and then some autofilter cutoff, also some white noise.
Those who ask for chords in Logic tutorial videos - just look down at the transport bar, because the chord names are displayed as they are played. In the case of 6:52, it looks like: C5 Ma7, F, Gm, Gm7 (hard to tell at 480p).
would have been nice if you had 720p so we could see what the names of every thing is cause your voice is pretty low, this is just constructive criticism i ant no troll
great tutorial.. is it also possible to just use EXS for the drums? (whats the disadvantage of that) + Which Drum Samples did u use in this video? Vengence?
@MoonflagBaby: Ok vengence.. but which one ;)? I always have the problem that my Kick is either too strong, too dirty or too soft and not pushing... How can you find such a good kick sample that easy? I mean a lot of those vengence sounds are just too strong, dirty, too soft or not that pushing ;):..??
Hey.. This is a really good video. Thumbs up. I just have one question about the sidechaining part. I have looked at a bunch of ways to sidechain for logic, and yours seems the most simple (even tho you did it real quick). Do you think you can say whaty ou did exactly? the steps you seemed to take looked real fast i just didnt catch it.
hey I have a question. Whenever I try to put compression on anything i want to "duck" I cannot seem to get it to sidechain. But I do see a difference in your screen than mine. Right under Ultrabeat it's blank, it does NOT have Output 1-2 in the I/O section. Do you know how I can fix this?
Also, where do I get the VST Sylenth? Is it inside the program Logic itself or is it a VST you have to purchase or get somewhere else?
by default ur mixer channel track is supposed to have an output for u to hear some sound.. but to sidechain u dont need to use a Bus ... rather then a send... so u mostly set it up in the Send section (right above the ultrabeat tab) u send 0db to the next free aux channel and u set the output of that channel to none. and then u select its bus in the compressor that will be set on the ducked instrument..
Hey. I was wondering how u made that clean beat in the background evertime. and just make it go all the time without recording. Also when im recording sumthing i played on my keyboard, it just no sound right. if u know what i mean.
At 6.53 sounds awesome! Could you do a tutorial some time about how you're putting those chords together? Are you doing it all on the fly just by ear or what?
One more question :) When you drag your kick-sample to the ultra-beat, is there any way to make it sound the same as the sample? My samples get a different sound and im not an expert on programming :P Nice work btw, impressive that you made it so quick :)
@batziiil Ultrabeat likes to turn it up for whatever reason. I adjust the volume accordingly. If you wanted and easier way, you could use the ESX (or w/e it's called) sampler which doesn't do anything to the volume
Right click (or control click) on the sound on the left of ultrabeat (where you can adjust each sound's volume and click on initialize sample in the menu tht pops up.
Where can i get those Samples?
