according to WIKIPEDIA this has "medley jam that contains Into the Void, Sometimes I'm Happy, Supernaut and drum solo, then turns back into Wicked World"
@MichaelHansenFUN a song that was relativley only performed live during the (I think) '71/'72 to the '75/'76 period of Sabbath it does contain all those and actually 2 drum solos. this used to be my account until Youtube got their panties in a fucking bunch
I forgot about this album.I had the cassette in 1980/9th grade/played it tell I wore it out.rythems sound so much heavier on this then the studio track
This should have been officially released as a live Sabbath album.
It's the best live recording from the Ozzy era and the sound quality is great as it was professionally recorded right off the sound board by a British radio show.
@sinkinglamb1994 If you dig slower metal, you should look into some doom metal.. Sabbath pioneered the genre with the album Master of Reality. I really dig Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus (whose singer, Robert Lowe, is now the vocalist for Candlemass). Give them a listen if you dig the slow, heavy sound.
yo people could you check my profile..if you love rock you should at listen give one of my videos a look..i need comments on this video i made, about some of the best BASS songs in rock.... I need feedback on it. its basically just a video about great bass songs and a playlist i have full of them....please rate & comment, thx!! need those comments
That twit knows better than to sing original Sabbath songs. Ozzy is the one and only original, like him, hate him, or laugh at him. OZZY is irreplaceable.
I love how some of the songs on this album are so heavy compared to the regular versions of the songs. Like wicked world and cornucopia on this album are so good, better than the original versions in my opinion.
what yr did this come out. i remember having the tape in 9th grade(1981) obviously older then that. just wondered where and when these songs were performed
@teilaans Well its interesting because in the studio its in standard tuning, only because they sped up the track this is what it would have sounded like before the speed up which made the guitar in standard tuning.
@hendrix950 Actually, the whole first album was in standard tuning. They didn't play it in C# and speed it up, they played it in standard at a faster speed. They started tuning down in '71. So any concerts from after that time they just played everything in C#, even stuff that was originally standard.
@zeppelin1996 No your mistaken im talking about Down tuning only a half step which iommi did do on every song off their first album besides the final cut of wicked world obliviously because it was sped up. This live version is in C# however i was just saying that in the studio they sped it up, i should have clarified that it was not in C# which your right they didn't start doing till MOR.
@zeppelin1996 Maybe you just cant tell its not a major difference like C# but it is a difference like guitars can easily fall into half step lower just by playing them for extended periods, depending on what kind of guitar.
@hendrix950 I can definitely tell when something is tuned a half step down. My guitars stay in tune very nicely and I always make sure I'm in tune. You can believe it's a half step down if you want, but I know it's in standard.
@zeppelin1996 Ok believe that your right but one day you'll figure out that you are wrong im absolutely 100 percent sure so I dont even know what to say.
@zeppelin1996 This is tuned in C#. Sabbaths first two albums and last two (with Ozzy) were in standard tuning. Master Of Reality - Sabotage were played in C#. This version of Wicked World was played during a tour when they had there guitars tuned in C#. Its basically common Sabbath knowledge.
@DoomMetalSludge Yes I know that. If you read my first comment you'll see that I knew. I was arguing with hendrix950 about whether or not this song was originally in standard, which it was. I realize that they're playing it in C# here. Everything was played in C# from 71-75.
your all a bunch of pussies- I actually performed an excorsizm with a cat to which led to my soul being extrapolated into teh external world. i even have evidence of fallen spirits to which posessed me-from the woods and everything
exactly - sabbath were a blues band - earth - to start with - and things just got gradually heavier. i stlll think of sabbath as having the most original sound of all - ozzys vocals are unique and iommis guitar playing has never been touched - no one can capture his technique properly
ozzy himself said he doesn't understand the term metal, he usually refers to their music as rock'n roll or hard rock, i don't think sabbath needs to call them metal, to be appreciated..
this is even doomier than the studio version. Fuckin Great. The 18 minutes-version is a bonus track on my Paranoid re-release. Whats about the tracks "Deathmask" and "Sometimes I am happy"? There doesnt exist any studio versions of those?
Nono it wasnt actually a real re-release, I know there will be a big 3CD-Rerelease in February but I have a normal Paranoid CD with a bonus track and that is exactly this Version of Wicked World. I dont really know the backgrounds of this CD but i know it wasnt the first release edition.
I believe the story behind this album was that the Sabs got wind that Ozzy was going to release a live album featuring Black Sabbath tunes ("Speak of the Devil"), so the record company put out "Live at Last".
"Live at Last" is underrated. Some people can't get past the mudiness of the recording, and I saw many copies of this album in the "used"/discount bins. Most people need to be spoon fed clean recordings.
I say fuck it! This album is punishing, like "Live at Leeds" is muddy/punishing.
sabbath released a live version from the california jam from 1974 and its better than this ''live at last'' version because this was a release saying sabbath was on ''drugs'' with ozzy and that manager was fired and sued. it was reissued in a better way. ozzy osbourne said that no band can match ''black sabbath's'' potential in live performances.
Oh yeah, it first came out in the states as an import, making it worth the wait regardless of what fuckheads like na112211 said in his earlier comment. Yeah we knew then that it wasn't as good as the studio recordings but we could appreciate a good live jam back then, mistakes and all! something awful happened after the early eighties......glam rock resurgence perhaps, I remember the Disco Sucks era, had my own disco sucks T-shirt, wish I had saved it for posterity.
His comment barely deserves a response. I saw Sabbath a couple of times in the 70s. To say that Sabbath is rubbish live, means he has no understanding of the band whatsoever. This band brought so much raw power and energy onto the stage. They could play "Three Blind Mice" and it would be a dark, jagged, thunderous, sweaty, ominous, thing of beauty. I've said it before Black Sabbath is a dish, best served live and bloody.
Yeah kids I remember when this came out on vinyl and yours truly, had to sell some dime bags of sinsemilla after saving his lunch money for weeks to buy this album. The next 4 summers were epic to say the least. There were at least 4 or 5 good concerts to go to each season, music biz was thriving. Seeing "The Wall" live was my initiation into the concert scene. Shit I been up all night, time for bed, cyahs!!
