  • I remember those days. Here in the small town where I live JC Oliver's Holy Light band dresses in all white sometimes. It is really cool. Thomas A Dorsey and his folks used to do that. The old National Baptist Conventions used to be like that.

  • so true.

  • Mama is singing it!

  • The emcee is looking like, "What is wrong with that (shouting) woman?!" LOL

  • that wasn't the emcee, that was the church announcer who ALWAYS interrupted people praising God during the "What A Fellowship Hour" broadcast. A lot people didn't like her because of that, and I was one of them. lol

  • Her name is Rev Deanna James. She used to always read the letter of the week during the Sunday AM 'What A Fellowship Hour' telecast. I met her once and she's actually a very nice lady.

  • Sing choir!!!!!!

  • Thank God for this song, thank God for this video

  • Notice, we're all dressed in WHITE! Those days are long gone from the church today!

  • Omg, youu went there ? is it still the samee orr a lil dead now ?

  • You can always tell when it's 1st Sunday in Chicago. A lot of churches would dress in White. It's part of the Lords Supper and Baptism recognition. I always say a good Baptist man would wear either Black or White or a combo of the two on the 1st Sunday. lol

  • Thank you, Thank you :).

  • AFIRMATIVE ACTION! THIS CHURCH NEEDS 3 WHITE PEOPLE FOR EVERY ONE BLACK PERSON! Gakaka,

  • thats how you sing for the praise of god.

  • now that's what i'm talkin' bout'!!!!!!!!!

  • I jus wanna kno what kind of church this is? They let women in the pupit~! Go Church.....This is back in the day too!

  • fellowship missionary baptist didnt care!!! they let the spirit move through a mouse if it came down to it!!! thats how all churches should be BAPTIST OR ANYTHING ELSE for that matter

  • AMEN!

  • my grannie's church in MICHIGAN doesnt allow women in the pulpit....THEY pastor's aide vacuums from the choir stand.....thats too much

  • I see you're from from Kalamazoo. Battle Creek born here. Vacuuming from the choir stand-That IS extreme!!

  • This was my nothers song sometimes they would have to come get her off the ushers floor when it was sung i put this in my favorites to remind me of her now this woman singing is what we'd call a seasoned singer blessss her

  • I love this kind of singing!

  • LOL...the lady at the end who "got happy" as we used to say back in da day had a true Baptist what I like to call "seat shout" LOL!!! Hallin and fallin out and somebody tryna get yo glasses off yo face while you in da middle of fallin out...tryna take the baby if u happen to have one in yo arms at da time LOL!!!! Dat is too funny and brings back so many memories...LOL!!!

  • LOL. I know wat u talkin bout.

  • While you're laughing at others. How is your walk with Jesus? Do you identiy with One Day at a Time sweet Jesus? Or are you sitting on the outside looking in? Come unto me all ye who are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Thus sayeth the Lord of heaven. One day...

  • "SistaBright"...the comment was not meant to be made into anything "deep" and I was not laughing at the lady! I was laughing because it brought back memories from my childhood and how people used to shout in church. That's all...nothing more and nothing less!!! My relationship with the Lord is getting stronger and stronger "One Day at a Time"!!! As a matter of fact he is dealing with me about entering the ministry if that answers your question?!?!

  • BaptisBoi-since you're being defensive in the last part of your statement I do not think you are really for "any ministry." If you have the thoughts the Lord is calling you to preach or teach His Word then pride and defensiveness has no place within your mind. Humble yourselves and turn from your wicked ways. A minister that is truly after God's own heart is strong and humble not prideful and feisty.

  • "SistaBright" it's really not that serious!!! U are taking this to a whole other level it was never intended to go! I admit I was being sarcastic at the end of my last comment but that is only because of u seemigly being judgemental! I don't know you from Eve and you are talking about me like you know me personally! First questioning my relationship w/the Lord and then telling me that I am not ready the enter the ministry all b/c of a comment made on here that was totally taken out of context!!!

  • The Bible does say "judge not lest ye be judged" and it seems to me you are casting an awful lot of judgement b/c of a simple comment that I made about the clip reminding me and bringing back memories from when I was a child in church and just turned it all around into something totally unecessary!!! Never meant to offend you in any way or whatever happend to make you react so defensively, but like I said, the clip was funny to me b/c it brought back memories thats all...nothing more or less!!!

  • BaptisBoi - That is all well and good. However your writing still sends a message of defensiveness a trait "ministers," who are called, should not have. The only thing you should be defending is the Word. Since you are offended I'll back off and let you be. Keep laughting people can be humorous.

  • From reading this "argument", if you would allow me to say, its you that's acually in the wrong sistabright. If BaptistBoi is anything like me, I would get defensive if you insulted my relationship with Jesus.

  • Thank you "Snowhill3"!!! I don't even know how or why she turned the comment all around into something that it was never intended to be!?!? But, I'm glad that somebody saw her, (what I consider to be negative) comments from my point-of-view!!!

  • This was some true old school church! It too reminds me of the days growing up in church as a child. I love it!!! I don't see what the big fuss was about. Back in the day there was a difference in "shoutin'" among denominations. In the Baptist church, it was more of an empotional thing. That's why they called it "getting happy". In the sanctified church (COGIC or Pentecostal), when you were in the spirit you danced. The same thing just different forms of expression.

  • Great comment! Growing up, I was Baptist, but when I becane an adult, I made it a point to visit as many different denominations as I could. The praise was different in every church, but it was all good!!! I'm COGIC now, but I do miss that good old Baptist shoutin'sometimes:)

  • I've done the same thing. I grew up between the Baptist and AME Church. Since I've been in my late teens and early twenties, I've been able to identify w/COGIC. Now that I'm 30, I feel that I'm getting ready to make that transition. I have also worked at a Methodist church and have learned to worship in all types of settings. (Methodist are normally quite and reserved. lol) When it all is over, we must worship Him in spirit and truth however we choose to do it. (cry, run, jump or shout.)

  • Please get over yourself. The comment was not derogatory. Maybe you are just trying to be too "deep." Trust me, it does not impress anyone.

  • They don't make 'em like that anymore! SING MOTHER!

  • Im only 21 but this is exactly the type of church i grew up in and i HATE all that contemporay crap. Give me a old fashioned holy ghost filled church any day. I LOVE IT!!!

  • I am 26 and feel the exact same way! To bad many of the young people today don't have a clue what "real church" is all about!!! Mother is sho nuff sangin!!!

  • I'm 23, and i'm right with you 2

  • i had to shout off that one!! Mama know she was singing!! GO head and take yo day at a time mama! das alrite take ya time! Go HEAD!! lol

  • God!!! thats the kind of soloist .i like to hear on sundays!! if she would have sung that song like that at my church, there would have been so many people shouting, they would have had to call the fire department!lol please post more.
