personally i feel dempsey is better than donovan in some aspects, but that's just me. Watch out. I think Jozy altidore is going to be better (If Bradley will give him more playing time). Plus, I can never figure out if dempsey is playing out of position at forward. I can't tell if he is better suited as a midfielder (that's where New England played him). But, he does have the scoring touch, so if he continues to succeed on the club and national team level at forward, I say keeep him at that position.
first of all, dempsey is not a pure forward. he is an attacking midfielder or winger. so saying he's our best forward is just inaccurate. second, I can think of at least 7 other players on the national team that are more productive as far as passes, touches and assists go. that's donovan, adu, beasley, lewis, twellman, johnson and ching.
i'd put any of those players on my starting roster before the douche, even the aging lewis.

Donovan may be the more talented player, and while I understand there needs to be an investment in the MLS, our absolute top players should be testing themselves abroad to adapt to the speed of international play, something Dempsey, McBride, and Beasley are all doing, and it shows in international play.
i dont think mls play is really that diffrent than international play in terms of speed, plus ist there more than one way to play the game?? slower doesnt always mean bad ya know??
plus donovan has been in so many international games hes adapted, if adaption was even needed. i think dempsey is a good player. I mean he is no superstar yeah i will admit that but i mean he doesn't suck. He was one of the few players to actually show up in the world cup. I like his attitude he's very gutsy and doesnt play scared.

Dempsey was better when he was loose. He's too stiff and unnatural in Fulham. Even on the national team. He's become stiff and less threatening. He was better when playing with flare. I miss the guy who had Italy on their heels. He was dangerous in the world cup and MLS. Then he goes to Fulham and becomes quiet and robotic. He needs to be himself, and not worry if people there think he's brash.

there is no doubt that european leagues are on a different level than mls...maybe not faster but more ball skills...i do think we are slowly catching up but i don't think we will ever be on the same level...dempsey is awesome though...too bad he doesn't play for a mls club

Donovan may be the more talented player, and while I understand there needs to be an investment in the MLS, our absolute top players should be testing themselves abroad to adapt to the speed of international play, something Dempsey, McBride, and Beasley are all doing, and it shows in international play.

plus donovan has been in so many international games hes adapted, if adaption was even needed. Iam not going to say iam glad donovan ist overseas but too me it doesnt matter really that much because i know its about how bad the player wants to improve and play that matters. It still would be nice to see him school some of the best player in the world as well.
