At least you have shelters. Here in Kazakhstan dogs are cruerly killed and government does not care, they think about stray dogs as about garbage trying just to get rid of them...

I am definately not a irresponsible owner! You know nothing about me and obviously nothing about the AVERAGE shelters. Some are no kill shelters and are actually doing some good, but most are not and euthanize more than they adopt out. That is murder, plain and simple!

Maybe, but i would check it first. Many strays have diseases which are unknown for the first phew weeks.

I support the animal shelter in Didim. They run a neuter and release programme, It isnt perfect, but its a far better solution to poisoning and shooting the street dogs,

The situation is not better in other countries, do not blame Turkey for this. Animal shelters have strict laws that almost prevent people from adopting the left animals.

As a Turkish,I must point out that all my family have dogs, cats in Turkey. I have five pets and I cannot be seperated from them for a day. It breaks my heart to see this.

On Turkey's behalf I was made aware of a program in Istanbul in which veterinarian students are spaying and neutering street animals and releasing them. It's not a perfect plan...but it is better than those animals making the problem worse.

some places this works, some places it makes no change. In some places street dogs or cats are welcomed into the community and become friends with the people who live in that area. This is the perfect environment for them where they have food, love.. but the number of places like these is declining. The biggest problem is the people who make complaints. They complain to local authorities, who either put them down or take them to shelters which have too many dogs on their hands anyway.

I am helping to those animals by myself then but it is difficult because of society I live between so cruel I can not even describe. Ignorance is the biggest enemy of these animals. This kind of clip will certainly educate the people. Poverty is not the reason for these animals suffering. Please put me there in their place behind the wires since I am not as nice as them... I was an unhappy, very confused person until my wife and I adopted a d... (please do not tell him he is a dog, he thinks he is our son). Our life completely changed for the better.
