Genetic science proves there is a link between modern day Ashkenazim and other Semitic people, namely, Arabs. Most Ashkenazim are more closely related genetically to Arabs than they are to White Europeans. Do some also have Khazar genes too? Perhaps, but not exclusively. Don't forget Khazaria was diverse, and many full Hebrews also moved there as it was a safe haven for Jews at the time. P.S. the Khazars (primarily) were Turkic and were not necessarily "European", as you say around 1:18.

There is a connection between most, if not all European Jews from what I read. And, it was noted by one source I read that did DNA testing that all are linked back to the original roots in the Middle-East.
The funny thing I found in all this is that many of my friends that are "Jewish" that came from Europe last...are more on the lines of atheist beliefs and don't want to be "Jewish" because of the stigma that comes from it and will continue on.

The same goes with the British and Spanish, the ones who are there now are not the true founders of those countries. That is the reason why they are called brit-ish, Ir-ish, and Span-ish.
